This thread might be of interest in regards to forum posting rules.
To clarify, anything NSFW and directly linked to will be mod-smacked. Seeing that you're new it's something you really need to be aware of. You might want to make a short, simple, pass-through page or just post that the art can be found on your DA page and not include a link.
Nice artz, and I'm sure you're going to get some interested parties around here. -
No Rave Time. Juggs has been busy with real life stuff and hasn't had much time to play, but he does log on here pretty often to post art. Same with LJ.
Foolish Gesture... that's my hubby's main alt. I finally remembered on my way upstairs to put the baby down for bed. Heh.
Others do log on from time to time, just keep an eye on the Paragon One channel and any globals you have. -
My husband and I moved our mains from Freedom to Liberty (Kheprera and Dimitri Philomel). We also play our main alts Lady Omen and Foolish (I can't really remember his name right now). G-Wiz is on a lot and Simms pretty regularly. We team with G-Wiz unless I'm being exceptionally moody or the hubby just wants "us" time.
So, if we're on, send us a tell and see what we're up to. -
I had noticed the tail and right hand right off the bat, but not the nose. Now that I look at it more closely (and with less than a headache than I had) I have to agree about the nose.
Water wings... I don't think so, however the idea of more watery elements, maybe some spikiness to the tail (like a scorpion fish would be cool.
Other than that, I think you've got a really awesome picture. I like the flow and movement to her, it's really graceful, and the eyes are soft and feminine. -
I love this. I didn't notice Shia and Fu at first, then cracked up at their expressions.
-
I just don't want to see you banned as well, DW. I have BW on watch at dA so I don't miss his new stuff.
-
I've been there, TL. Still there, in fact, after 8 years. It has been a real struggle.
Hopefully yours won't last as long as mine has. -
I didn't know bananas made ringing noises...
*fun with words!* -

I had wondered were you had gotten off to , I was almost ready to think something Fowl had befallen you !

Ouch!
I cry fowl at that pun! -
Then Rule #1 needs to be clarified, because I read it as "you need to be paid up to post."
-
I would, but I'd be somewhat lying because I saw it this morning while rushing to get ready for work and don't recall who posted the link or who's dA site it was.
-
Someone posted a link to someone's main dA page which contained much in the way of NSFW.

As was I.
I was actually under the assumption that posting on another's account was prohibited, but the COH boards seem friendlier overall compared to most boards - even the mods.

1. You must have an active City of Heroes/Villains game account to post on our forums
Your forum account is linked to your game account. If you are suspended or banned from the game, you will not be able to post on the forums. As such, you are responsible to follow not only the forum rules of conduct but also the City of Heroes User Agreement and Rules of Conduct you agree to when you enter the game. If you are suspended from the message boards, your game account will be reviewed and you may be subject to a ban from the game, as well.
11. No proxy posting; no account hopping to evade suspension.
Posting on behalf of a suspended user is not allowed. Working around a ban through other peoples accounts, trial or secondary accounts to continue posting is also prohibited and may incur an extension of a current ban. You are personally responsible for your conduct on the forums. If you create a new account to continue posting because another account was suspended, any forum and/or game accounts involved will be permanently suspended. Forum and/or game bans apply to a person, not specifically an account. Threads designed to announce, appeal or contest a forum or game banning decision on behalf of a third party will also be removed without notice

TA does a lot of work to keep that list going.

I really dig this...romantic and pretty and yet sort of creepy. It made me want to learn more of their story.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's a long story and still evolving. I started playing this character twenty years ago. If you really want I can dig up some of what I have and PM it to you. -
Boredom. Most of the time I'm doing something else online at the same time, or five different somethings, and while I'm waiting on things like saving, loading times, responses, I lurk here.
-
I'm glad I'm not the one to say it.
Reminds me of the time I worked for a photolab. A really good repeat customer comes in with some pictures of her solid white poodle. We've printed pictures of the dog before, we know him, and we know how snow-white he is.
First print out, he's purple. Figuring there is something really wrong with our machines we recalibrate, switch out and check all the chemistry, and try again. Purple. We spend a long time color correcting that picture so he comes out white since she's such a good customer.
She comes in and see the enlargement she had requested..."What happened?"
"What do you mean?"
"I had him dyed purple!"

Nanna has one blue eye and one brown. It is considered a fault, but I love it. And believe it or not Petey is totally the boss. Nanna sits off to the side all sad when I feed them waiting for Petey to get down before she even tries to eat. She's a total wuss but I love her.

We had an Australian Sheepdog like that, one brown one blue. With her gray, black, and white coloring she looked very fierce but was the sweetest dog alive. I never considered it a fault.
Edited because I hate double-posting. -

Nanna has beautiful eyes , they are just amazingly haunting !!
Petey is adoreable , how do they get along since theres such a difference in size ?'
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree. When I saw Nanna I thought "Wow, gorgeous." Very lovely dog. -
Alex did a wonderful job and I'm quite pleased.
And Niviene, I'd love to have those boots as well. Maybe drop Jay a hint? -
Nope, she's a mage and in CoH dark/dark defender. Awesome job, Alex.

I think you're reading too much into it and expecting too much from people on an internet forum. -

I don't think any offense at all was meant by Slick when he offered his critique. I also do not believe he meant to do any sort of trolling. As he said I see this as merely opening the lines of communication so there is a place where we can all understand what is expected, or not, from these forums. I would also like to point out that since the means of communication here is strictly by the written word, vocal infliction can often be misconstrued.
I've been on these forums a while and have never read anything about critiques being encouraged or not. This may have occurred before my time. You cannot completely blame Slick for not seeing that. It is correct that this is a forum for an MMO, and the title is Screenshots and Fan Art. As such it probably is true that, as it is not an "artists" forum (and to this I would beg to differ as we do have many very good artists on here) but merely a sub-forum for an MMO, that critiques are a discouraged thing, yet I have seem them in the past. Jumping on someone relatively new to the area is merely a means to run them off and to discourage others who might consider posting some of their work.
Basically the long and short of it appears to be that some people appreciate and encourage critiques, others want nothing to do with them, and a few who are reading this but not responding could not care less either way. That's fine. There should be no need for name calling in the process of this discussion.
With that said, for those who do wish to have their work critiqued, deviantART's submissions allow you to choose what kind of comments you wish to encourage. Just select the proper checkbox. Also, as has been mentioned, you can PM the artist in question just to be on the safe side. I've done this in the past.
I mean no offense by this post at all; I'm just commenting on my own observations. For me this thread has been most helpful as now I know what I can expect from this forum without walking on eggshells. -
I like getting constructive critiques. It helps me learn how to improve. If no one says "the legs look a little off, maybe you should elongate her calves a bit" or "your feet are too small" how am I going to learn? While many artists are their own worst critics, it can take an honest "have you tried this technique" or "try looking at this anatomy book, it's really good" for me to learn how to improve.
In fact I praise Crestent for often encouraging critiques of his works. In the past year he has dramatically improved and has done so by practically begging for advice from others.
And when I have shown some of my pieces to others at some conventions, I ask them how I could have done it better. Sometimes I can see that something is off but I just can't pinpoint the problem.
So if I post something, personally, that I specify is my own work, I want and encourage comments on how I could do better. This even goes for my photography or mini-painting. I won't turn down praise, but I value critiques that help me without being inflammatory or derogatory (like "j00 suXX0rz!"). -
I think there is a slight problem to just cleaning up your main dA page, even. The deviantART notice that changes, as well as the banners for those who don't have an account. Some of these have contained NSFW images. I've seen it. It happened once while I was at work before work blocked dA. I quickly shut down dA, but there it was.
Also, the mature content rating on dA is completely and totally dependent upon the user to proclaim themselves of age, or to mark the piece as mature. For all any of you know I'm a 14 year old boy getting his kicks, or a fifty year old gamer dude sitting in his parent's basement pretending to have some sort of life. CoH/CoV is just trying their best to protect themselves in this sue-happy environment we've all become a part of.
It's fairly easy to create a single page to link to that will then link to your dA account if you have another website. You don't need anything fancy. Play by the rules and we'll all have a happy fun time.
And for the record, I'm neither 14 nor 50 nor male. Everything else is left for your imagination.
