Mine is a Logitech MX 620 Cordless Laser, and my reciever is only 3 feet away, at most. It's on the front of my case, and the only thing between it and the mouse is me &amp; my chair. Moving out of the way hasn't had an effect, either.

As for the remove the red idea... hmm... my desk is a faux-wood finish. Maybe there's red in it to make it look brown. Enough red to be a problem, anyway... Maybe I should try getting a mousepad...
