Not played DB much, but IIRC Dual Blades is pretty good, but a little more advanced than the others because of its Combo system, where using attacks in specific orders gets special effects. It can be a bit of a weak starter because you need to earn the right attacks before you can use any combos, and it's a bit heavy on the Endurance IMO.

Best bet, try lots of things and see what meets your expectations. None of my first few characters were my main.
Seems like I'm going a Katana/WP Scrapper, thanks!

Thank you! Probably going WP then. But is dual-swords any good? Is there any superior choice?

Thank you! It's just one last decision to be made now, I'm making a dualblade scrapper but I don't know what the secondary powerset should be. Any tips?

If you tell it to install in C:\, it will install in C:\City of Heroes\

If you tell it to install in C:\City of Heroes, it will install in C:\City of Heroes\City of Heroes\

the solution should be to copy everything inside your \City of Heroes\piggs, and copy it into \City of Heroes\City of Heroes\piggs

If I remember correctly, the next time you run the NA updater it should find those piggs in the "right" place and successfully verify them.

if you don't plan to play in the EU, you can delete the original EU piggs folder in the future and claim back 3.6GB.

Hope it works for you, and that you enjoy the game!
Hmm. Before I knew I could just change the name of the updater I tried to install the NA client manually through the slow launcher and so I created a folder called "City of Heroes NA", when I after tried to change the name of the updater in the EU folder I got the piggs error. Now I deleted the NA folder and tried again and now it tries to install the game again even though I choose my current CoH folder. It just says that I'm out of space or need permission.

EDIT: Oh wait! I thinks it's working! It's checksumming the folder (like 50mb per second), let's see if it works.

EDIT: Now it's fixing some files (24mb)

EDIT: It's working! See you guys on virtue!

The piggs folder is 3,62GB and yes I seem to have 2 additional City of Hereos folders inside the main folder.

    Thanks for the tip, but when I try it, this happens;

Personally don't know of any torrents or work arounds to speed up downloading.

    Anyone else?
Do you play on Virtue? I'd like to talk to you whilst playing (unless it's too much of a hassle for you)
  9. Thanks alot! Will try to get ahold of an NA trial and download the NA client.

EDIT: Found it! Downloading now. I think I will be starting on Virtue (unless it's full or something).

EDIT 2: It's going really slow downloading the NA client, is there a way to convert my EU version to NA, or maybe there is a torrent around?

There are several EU players that have chosen to get an NA account so they can have access to 11 servers and the larger player base. Some I believe have an account on both. So if after playing a while you feel you'd like something a little busier, you can look into starting an NA account. The only downside is that you can't move characters between accounts.
I'm currently on a trial account so it shouldn't be too much of a hassle to try the american servers, right?

If you live in Europe and have purchased the European version of the game all is fine, join either Union or Defiant (Union used to be much more populated than Defiant a few years back, but I hear things are much more closer now). If you live in America and have purchased the American version, you should download the American client.

If you live in Europe and have purchased the American client, be aware that although American servers are more populated than the European ones, you will likely be playing during off-hours because of the timezone difference. If you live in America and have purchased the European client... I'd try to get a refund in your place.
Seems like right then, I live in europe and I'm playing on the european servers.

Haha, what's wrong with that? And by the way, how can you guys have SOOO many posts? 32k and 18k.
  14. I had this problem and solved it by moving the 3 files in the C:/Windows folder (they all have names that begin or end with coh) to the install folder (C:/Program Files/City of hereos).
  15. Wow, I didn't expect this many answers, thank you all! Very helpful forum. I may try a scrapper then, to learn the ways of the game and later decide if I want to go like something else. By the way, this guys PM'ed about joining the server Virtue but I can't seem to find it in the server selection, just Defiant (?), another english server (not Virtue) and two german servers. How do I join virtue?

One combo I particularly like with Electricity is Sonic Resonance. Which it's not a strong offensive set, it's strong enough on a Corruptor to make it, and I happen to think the sonic bubbles have a subtle similarity to electrics, if you change the colors. However, it may be tough going, you may not like it.

In short, if you want to be offensively oriented at all times, go with the Corruptor. If you want to have strong offense when solo, but trade it in on more team utility when you're on a team, go with the Defender. You'll also have a little more luck with the Defender if you stick with sets like Radiation Emission, Kinetics, Storm, and Dark Miasma.
    Tough choice..

  18. Probably going to be a defender then, with focus on offensive spells! (Offender )

EDIT: Oh I forgot! What server do you recommend? Most friendly and helpful player-base?

    Sincerely.

  21. Hello! I'm currently downloading the game and therefore cannot explore the variety of spells available and would therefore like to know what kind of skills are "all around" good and appropriate to a Infamous kind of character? (Lightning, no swords, guns and so on)

    Sincerely.
