It doesn't matter if the person you're looking at is in the flesh or represented by pixels. If you treat people badly, you're not going to be making friends. Most of us learn that by the time we're 10.

Missy expresses it perfectly. People act like people in virtual worlds: shocker!

Thanks for the links, Philly, interesting reading.
  2. I found this paper a lot more interesting and closer to my experience of MMOs.

Dr Twixt seems to fall squarely in the upper left quadrant.
  3. Is it odd that I collect these?

    Anyone remember Map Server?

Various others I found amusing: Eats Shoots Leaves, Global Warming, Biohazard Bob, Willy Wacko, and many more I didn't have the chance to catch.

Of course, my hubby points out that I run around red side as Actually Pants...and he wanted me to share his Gnomelock with you.

Is it just me, or does that second photo have the air and look of a plotting villain? Is he a Nemesis Plot?

    [/ QUOTE ]
I have consulted with my fellow villains and we approve of this bebeh villain.

May we humbly suggest "Diaper Overlord" as his new title?

    Yes, yes, excellent....

Congratulation on the new SG member, Noodle!
  5. Thanks, Tekka! I think he fiddled with a few things for sails, but didn't come up with anything that looked right. For now, the ship is at anchor and the sails are stowed.
  6. Wow, some impressive stuff in here. Keep it coming!

With I13, our hero base has gone Lord of the Rings inspired. We've one more room to go before we're ready for a base tour, but I did want to share one cool item. All credit to my hubby; I can't base edit worth crap.

Amusingly, I've a friend who legitimately has level 53 HOs. Had a screenshot of that somewhere...

    There's always a friend of a friend..
In my case, it's my friend's sister who knew this guy, who also had a friend,( i know it's crazy) who's mother knew a guy down the road who had a picture of a guy that said he knew someone who had a screenshot of 53 HO's...

    [/ QUOTE ]
In perfect circularity, I was the friend of the friend who gave him the HOs...
  8. Scary, Frog, just scary.

Amusingly, I've a friend who legitimately has level 53 HOs. Had a screenshot of that somewhere...
  9. Damn sweet!

  10. Greatly entertaining narrative. 5 stars!
  11. Excellent. Great balance of free versus paid. And my OCD thanks you for allowing character organization.
  12. Clever theme. The entrance was giving me Morrowind flashbacks--fully expected to click on some of those bottles and find skooma, also wanted to search the sacks.
  13. Hm, until I looked at the overview, I thought I was seeing several rooms. Even more impressed how clean and appealing your design is!
  14. Really like what you did with the entrance!

Further back is the Airstrip and a Control Tower .
The bottom floor is for Pilot Debriefing and Training .
The upper portion is the Air Control Operations Booth . No stairs up because I just couldn?t get them to look good. Just assume there?s lift platform or something on the ground floor that goes to the top.

    [/ QUOTE ]
The control tower rocks! I'm imagining a little interior ladder with a hatch that lets you climb up top.
  16. Flag/tile colors seem kinda arbitrary. Our SG colors are black and white, so I think the banners are picking up on that. They don't have any emblem on them because the one we chose way back in Issue 1 turns out to be bugged in the base editor and doesn't display. So if you want an empty banner, just use Ornate 2 (costume creator name for it, in the SG emblem selector it's the 4th row, 9th column).
  17. The base for my little family supergroup is still very much a work in progress as far as functionality goes, but my hubby got quite enthused about the look and feel. I think he did a great job, so I thought I'd share. We're Icchan's Angles, hence the Earth and Heaven design theme.

First, the entrance: a tranquil pool rests at the base of a stone courtyard. From down in the pool, you can hop along the rocks to head to the pleasant workshop that's open to the sky.

If the unfortunate happens and you rez to base, you're quite literally arriving in heaven, complete with floating clouds. The clouds and bridge will get you back to solid ground. Stopping by the inspiration chest in the oversight center on your way back out is probably a good idea!

Finally, the aurora borealis of the teleporter under the night sky will get you on your way.

Here's how it all fits together in the overview.

Thanks for all the inspiration, tips, and tricks!
  18. Did the exemplaring bug shutting off all set bonuses that Plasma mentioned ever get fixed?

Even if it didn't, it'd be great to have the correction about set bonuses added to the original post. I failed to read all the way down the first time, and was much confused as a result.

    Thanks for a great guide!
