Quote:I agree with this. Having some clockwork cleaning here and there is a nice touch, though I think they could take it further. How about one flying or hanging outside a building cleaning the windowsIt's interesting I came here to find that very thread. I can't help but notice david hasn't posted any sort of update on that stuff, or much of anything. I'm still not sure if he was the best choice for that position. Then again he hasn't held it for long.
Anyway. there's lots of suggestions in the buildings thread about things that could be done to spruce up the zones and give them a hair more life. The changes range from simple like updating NPC garb to advanced complete redesigns of whole zones. I'll agree that a lot of good work was done in praetoria. hopefully some of that can be applied to the rest of the game in time.
Changing things here and there will go a long way to keeping people interested in the world as much as a new zone would if the effort is equal then i'd say focus on what is already there. -
Quote:Definitely the kind of thing I'm talking about. There are a variety of things that could be done that would take a kind of creativity, but I just feel there should be more variety of action in the city. They don't have to be full-on badge-worthy events. Maybe a car-wreck now and thenI get the feeling that the OP is referring to stuff along the lines of Sally in Croatoa. Something you wouldn't neccesarily see unless you were paying attention. Sort of like little easter eggs within zones.
For example, you come across Stateman patrolling Atlas Park. You click on him, and he gives you a rare salvage/recipe and says "This'll help you keep up the good fight." Ya'know, small yet thoughtful things.
Am I correct? -
Quote:Luv ya devs! Want more (that's all I'm saying) Again, smaller, but more frequent or more varied events is along the lines of what I'm suggesting. Asking for more/different is not a complaint against what has been done. And the devs have been adding things like that over the years when they can.
Arson fires in Skyway
Troll Raves
Rikti invasions
Zombie Apocalypses
The Protest (I19)
Syndicate Takedown (I19)
The Great Escape (I19)
Quote:To me that sounds like you'd like open world missions that takes you across several zones.
Quote:If you had said that I wouldn't have thought you were suggesting open world missions that cross other zones. -
Quote:Or more simply:Yes it looks like it is. And if you take the time to read it you'll learn everything they have planned for the event.
Now if on the off chance they intend to surprise us with something, they aren't going to announce beforehand because it would spoil the surprise. They'll tell us when they are ready.
YOU: "Oh yeah! There it is.... Yup, it doesn't look like they've announced free transfers, but they might surprise us. We'll have to wait and see."
ME: "Ok, that's what I was thinking, but thanks for confirming that I didn't miss anything."
See? That wasn't hard. It even took like typing -
Quote:I wasn't thinking of Praetoria when I said that. Sorry.I can't speak for anyone else but I would much rather see the devs add more levels to Praetoria so players can choose to contiue leveling up to 50 if they don't want to choose Hero or Villain.
Quote:The devs have stated that updating old zones requires the same amount of work as creating new zones. So they are doing the best they can within the limits of their schedules and budgets.
Quote:They've been doing this with zone events, other than that no. If you want to play a game with open world missions then theres another game out there that tried that. People hated it so much that it was forced to go F2P after only 1 year. People are refusing to pay to play that type of game and they came here instead where we have instanced missions.
Quote:No. One of the biggest complaints people have is the stupid missions that have everyone scrambling off in all directions. People hate having to travel all over the place for no good reason and have been demanding that missions/TF's keep everything in the same zone they started in. The devs have heard our complaints and they are updating things to reflect those demands. -
Quote:The players will know what's going to happen during the Winter Event as soon as the devs make an announcement.
Welll that's certainly logical, but isn't this the announcement:
http://www.cityofheroes.com/news/eve...ter_event.html -
I think this classifies as something I didn't think I'd use until I could. Even after VERY careful deliberation last year, I think I would like to make a few more moves.
-
So.... if they were going to do free transfers, would that have been announced by now? Or maybe they're keeping it secret? If they're not planning on it is it too late to beg?
-
Or go to vidiotmaps and click the badge icons on the maps for a picture of where the badge can be found. That's the only way I've been able to find some of them.
-
I usually start IO slotting around level 12 or 15. Around level 30 or so, I start actually CARING what I slot and plan it out a little better. I don't bother with putting too much cash and effort in until 47 when I can keep the investment.
-
For a while at least, no more new zones. Remember what you did to Faultline? Magic!
I would like to see zones updated, but not necessarily redesigned like you did to Faultline. What about adding some details, or just changing a few things to keep it interesting. What about randomly inserting specially highly localized events like special enemies that wander in dark corners and provide some kind of special reward if they're found or dealt with.
Not everything should happen in instances. I would like a reason to sometimes take the long way or slow down and see the city now and then. The first time through the Hollows is an adventure. The 100th is a chore. -
Did I mis-see that or did someone dive head-first into snow? Or was that creative license?

So... It'd be useful if there was a way to tell which boosters I already have by looking at my NCsoft account. Now I'll have to wait until I'm home
-
Quote:Mind. Blown. Not even the Mac Pac? Although many would say the Ninja pack is the most useful, don't underestimate mission teleporter:I haven't purchased any of the booster packs, but I'd be the most interested in the Martial Arts pack. I'll check on the 29th to see if they happen to put it on sale too. If they do, I'll probably buy it.

Quote:This is the exact same thing I thought of. Seems that if they can make something as complicated as a game writing this code:. Furthermore, if I've been paying with the same valid card for over 5 years, it seems like I could reach some sort of "trusted" status.
If (playtime > 1 year) norestrictions=true;
shouldn't be that hard for them. -
Quote:Yup! You can get really clever with it and I use it almost every time I play.Good points. I'd never really looked into the tricks of the trade for self-destruction, but you make a convincing argument for a $5 purchase.
I wish they still had an affiliate program, but for now, I'll promote it for love of the game though a few promotional give-aways like free packs for reviews wouldn't hurt....
Hmm. I wonder if they'd do that? -
Wait... I sort of follow this, but is there any risk to the ones I have being slotted now getting lost? I only ask because you said "lost" and now I worry that I might have missed something.

to see a Cyber sale for 'some' of these packs for CoH, as well as the Best Buy deal, I have to admit, there are several 'fail' issues with this (yo, Black Pebble and Sales Department, take note):
- Why must Leandro and those outside North America and Europe suffer with the stupidity of NOT having access to these sales?
- With all the hoopla over the (in my opinion, as with many forumites) ridiculous pricing of the Party Pack, WHY wasn't this added to a 50% off sale? MOST ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS STATED IF YOU DROPPED IT DOWN BY 50% OR SO, A LARGER MAJORITY OF THE FOLKS WOULD'VE BOUGHT IT! *Epic Fail on opportunity to get others to buy Party Pack and redeem yourselves (talking to you, marketing/sales) over this*
- Ninja Pack. C'mon. It's popular. Those that don't have it are sure to want it if they had a better value incentive. Not even 15-25% off?
- Gifting. Why, to this day, is it that you can't 'gift' a pack or an expansion to a fellow player via global name from the NCSoft Store? There are over a dozen people in my SGs/VGs that I would LOVE to gift some of these packs to, but alas, denied. I guess you don't like our money...
- Why don't you have an "All Origins" Combined Booster Pack Value Deal? Combine all the Origin-based Super Booster Packs with the recent Origins aura/cape pack, tally it up, take off 10-20%. New players could do one-stop shopping by getting them all in one fell swoop (what a great Christmas/Holiday present, especially if there was a 'gift' option with the NCSoft Store!). Maybe throw in a free/special 30 day Holiday (Winter Event) Jet Pack for incentive?
Take a hint, sales/marketing.You could've knocked the ball outta the park on this one.
Agree. We want to give you money. Let us. - Why must Leandro and those outside North America and Europe suffer with the stupidity of NOT having access to these sales?

Quote:NCSoft take note. I will also buy several unless you artificially prevent me from doing so.The NCStore REALLY needs to implement some sort of shopping cart option where you can add/remove multiple items to a list and purchase them all at once. It's extremely unfortunate that you can only make a single purchase every 24 hours (using the same card) and you can't even change the quantity, like if I wanted to buy multiples of a booster for each of my accounts at the same time... I only have 1 card, can't do it... so it has to go over the course of a week (which I never finish doing)
I still need Science for my main account and Mac for my secondary... my wife also needs a number of the ones offered in the saleI'll likely never get around to purchasing all the boosters for all my accounts since I can't make a bulk purchase.
UR LUSIN MONIES NC! -
Cyborg Self destruction is worth it alone: http://www.jordans-town.com/rps/cyborg-booster
Science has height and sex change for costumes. Not as much pure win, but still pretty rocking.
There's a lot I haven't bought partially because of two accounts and partially because I have to be able to justify $10 for pretties. In general, I will buy it if it saves me time (like self destruction and ninja run), but otherwise I wait for Christmas or my birthday.
This price break could change a lot. I might actually get some others to fill the gaps now
*Edit, just saw the list of packs and I have all of them on both accounts except Science and Wedding. I guess I'll only be buying two until next year -
Add me to the list. UR DOIN IT RITE!
Anyone who knows me knows that I complain long and loud about things I don't like or wish were different, but the flip side of that and just as important (if not more so) is to make sure to let the devs know when they're doing it right.
WW and all, thanks for delaying the issue. Thanks for even HAVING issues (that didn't sound right...). Thanks for the game; thanks for the fun; thanks for many years to come!
And thanks for lowering the prices on booster packs to between 2 and 5 dollars each depending on their relative merit......

Quote:Lusca iz tasty!Beautiful job, Jordan!
I'm curious, though. Is Flamesong fighting with Lusca or huggling her? From the heart thought bubble, I would think that she's huggling her.
One of my favorite things is to go to Lusca raids and heal her, so I would hate to have to put Flamesong on my 'Naughty Spawn' list if she's trying to hurt dear Lusca!
You know how cats are with fish. Based on the description of her "losing her hat in a fight with lusca", this is a depiction of that fight. If you look closely, you'll see that FS is biting down on that tentacle.
