  1. no offense but that was a waste of 5 minutes of my life. Nothing new was learned, except new dance emotes. ooo I'm soo excited.

Next time a Q&A comes up, don't answer questions that have already been answered in forumns or on main website, that is just counter productive.
  2. It happens whenever there are enough people on. I was thinking about starting 3:30 Central. But I can wait till 4PM, just expect my wife to be very mad
  3. I am officially starting a Master of 5th Column Strike Force today. If you are brave enough come join in the fun. Let's see if the villian side can be beat with a Master Badge faster than the hero side!

    So who wants some.*

    * no kittens will be harmed in the making of this event. (villians love kittens)

I'm hoping to have my new computer before i20.
  5. Maybe I just havn't met the right Yeti.
  6. From Issue 9

"Moving forward, we also want to periodically re-examine the state of Hamidon. Since Hamidon is an incredibly powerful, sentient being, it only makes sense that it (he?) should evolve from time to time. If players discover a critical flaw that makes raids too simple or monotonous, expect to see Hamidon evolve again."

I knew I had read it somewhere. Course I didn't run with any raids from at least issue 5 thourgh 15 so don't know if he has involved any since i9.
  7. That sucks Yeti, I'd not let you on my team simply because I am prejudice against all Yeti's in general .

I understand what mortal prey is saying, as I stated earlier, I didn't find Hami fun either, but it was based on what it was, not what it is now.

    That's me.

I go now, not for the HO (which I never use) or the merits (which I so far have yet to even use or care what they are even used for). I go simply to be apart of a giant team tackling a huge boss.

I am impressed with the sense of teamwork that happens on both Hami and RWZ raids. Yes I could think of better use of my time on Sat, or Wed nights both in game and out of game, yet if I'm not doing anything I'll hop on down. This helps promote the server and newer players in seeing all there is in game.

On another note related to the Hami. Is it my imagination or do I recall when one of the Dev's stated that they were going to change Hamidon every now and then to keep it fresh and new.
  8. What do we use to burn witches?

    MORE WITCHES!!!!!!!!
  9. Though I might not know the chaos this may cause, perhaps more people in their perpective chat channels could be allowed the option to invite new people. I know I have from time to time wanted to invite some new person into a chat channel, only to be blocked by not having that authority.

    Just a thought.
  10. I was more refering to those like myself that will have a character ride the fence simply to be accessable to all zones, rather than just one side.

As far as Hami being in GR, I was loosly referencing one of the devs stating that there is no plans for a Hami type event in Praetoria at this time. I just hope it isn't planned ever, cause 3 Hami events would just be overkill.

Well I am out of the forumns, I'll be over on the red side if anyone wants to run something.

What really sucks is I had a nice long statement that I had written and my computer lost connection. But Ice said it better.

My main complaints about Hami red side.

    1) Advertisment - for those that do not read the forumns, the chat channels are it. But rarely do I see any weekly advertisments. If someone replies to this statement with, "It's in the channel MoTD." My reply is so, I like most ignore that simply because I am with several chat channels which all have different MoTD that scroll up in my chat window before the game loads up. Also some chat channels like JS have had the same MoTD for years. (and if you saw my april fools post, you'll have seen that I have been in the channel a long time, just kept quite)

    2) Red Side - it's almost impossible to get a SF going on busy days, why should a Hami raid be different. I agree with Ice again, lag is a main culprit, but emptyness is also. I do not have an issue playing red side due to the whole, "I do not want to feel like a bad guy" but I have known some that do. But the biggest issues I hear are, "I don't like red side, I never play red side, and red side is empty."

2 of those are negative and the last is a result of that negativity towards villians.

Those of us that play on a regular basis, need to give the red side more love. I am hoping that when GR get's launched, the issue of not playing over there will be over. I also hope that Hamidon never shows up in Preatoria. I think the devs were smart when they stated that they did not believe that Hamidon was something villians wanted to do.

In the many years I have played CoX I can honestly say that I have never once been invited to a villian Hami raid, I showed up by accident at the end of a raid, and I do mean at the end of the raid.

    3) Timing - Always and issue.

    4) This is true to myself, but I refused to join in on the blue side Hami raids simply because I remembered how they were. Just recently have I been showing up in the fun. This is due to no ones fault but my own for not educating myself on how it is done now. There may be others that also refuse to do it for the same reasons. I know that there are many good posts on what to do, what to expect. But like many others, I just did not read the forumns. I would only look up the Dev Digest to see what they were talking about and then log in. After 6 years of playing, I have only now started to post and express myself on a regular basis. Again, how many others out there are like me.

I see pretty much the same people posting over and over again. Occasionally a new person pops there 2 cents in, which is welcomed, but then they leave or never repost. Where is this person in game? Do they get invited to a chat channel? I don't know.

First let me thank you for being brave enough to talk to us. Nice to have a marketing guy in the room to speak with.

I have not read most of this forumn, however I did see this post. Here in is the problem with making a poster of Desdemona.

    Who is she?

Yes those of us that have been following the forumns and the GR site know who she is. Sure I can imagine the sexy poster this would can be, yet I again state, who is she.

Now I know that somewhere on the poster there would be a CoH logo in the bottom corner. Yet when faced with the choice of Desdemona or say any number of sexy heroes from the main stream lines; and you were a 100% going to buy one poster, I'd say about 98% of all buyers would go with what is known versus what is not.

That hurdle aside, how to convience the comic book store owner to spend their money to purchase this poster? Having worked in a collector store for about 5 years and having also been in charge of what that store brought in to sell; even with my love of this game; I'm sorry, I'm not going to take the chance on trying to sell something only a handful of people know about.

Please don't take this as me saying that Coh community is just a handful of people. Yet look at it from the perspective of one locally owned store that only handles a certain radius of the population of comic book readers; how many of them play Coh?

At the place I worked at, we freely gave out the Diamond Books that contained all upcoming items for sell. This is how I would sell any poster related to CoH.

"Thank you customer for picking up your subscriptions, here is your monthly Diamond book, if you see anything you like, please return your order form with payment within the next two weeks and I'll place the order for it for you."

If no one wants it; it does not get ordered.

There-in lies the problem, as I fully believe that CoH needs to focus on the comic book collector community more. I miss the comic books I received monthly back in the beginning. Awesome idea, awesome tie-in. Probably not very cost affective for the business, based on time/vs cost.

I would again look at selling the comic books under a good label. On top of that I would do the following:

1st) Hire a team of writers just for the comic book.

2nd) The comic book would be a seperate subscription cost. 12 issuse for $x.xx, get 1 month of CoH free with 12 issuse subscription from website. (Notice I said 12 issues, not 1 year; more details coming).

3rd) Any and all people that purchase the comic from the shelf in a store get 15 day trial of the game. (There would have to be a tear out slip in the comic with serial code, also give a temp travel power to last the 15 days as well.)

4th) What happens in the comic book, affects the game; what happens in the game affects what happens in the comic book. (This would be by far the hardest aspect to accomplish and would require both the comic writers and the developers work together, and why I stated 12 issues sub, not 1 year)

This is accomplished by the following:

The writers create awesome story: Villian X does Y and story ends with cliff hanger.

Story introduces new contact(s), placed in perspective good, bad, and rogue areas. As heroes we have to save the city from whatever this new villian as started, as villian we get to help out with whatever the scheme is. As Rogue (ie vigilante or rogue), we choose whatever we wish to do. Also the contact will give us choices much like the police, newspaper missions of what we would like to do.

Now this new story arc is only available in game for limited amount of time. Comic book comes out, story continues in-game until completion. The outcome of the story will be determined by whichever side completes it the most server wide.

Once story has finished in-game, the comic book writers create the next issue. As players, we do not get to know the outcome of how the in-game plays out until the issue is released.

Factors to determine the side that "wins" would which side completed the most, which side "died" the most. How many missions were, "skipped". Or by what players choose to do the most.

As added bonus, the subscribers of the book alter egos get a power boost of some kind, if heroes "win" then they get a bonus, rogues "win" they get a bonus, and if villians then they get the bonus.

So new issue, continues story from where we the players pushed the game towards. So now after issue released new in-game content with continued story. And the process repeates until the 12 issues are finished.

As added bonus, we as subscribers get entered into competition to become the next in-game contact.

At the end of the overall story, we can then choose to purchase the in comic book form of the entire store, with issues for the "what if" arcs as well.

    I would.
  17. I like it, but would bet the devs would say the carpet animation would be to difficult. Perhaps a magic lamp power with genie that grants 1 of 3 wishes. Double's either power, money, or random IO reciepe.

With this power, it would have to be something along the lines of a 6 hour in game recharge timer. Once this power was activated, no other characters could use it until the 6 hours had elapsed.

The power and money wish would last for 1 hour of game time.
  18. I'm still going with it being released tomorrow.

    Tax Relief Day!

well I'm sure it's more of a marketing thing.

We lose x amount of players during these months based on previous years subscriptions. Offer 2 months free with paid to entice, blah blah blah.

    CoH2 registered?

They started CoH what back in 2001 and it's only been officially released for just shy of 6 years. We won't be seeing anything for at least another 3 to 4 years.

Personally, I'd like to see it as a different city on a different continent, but then we get those complaining, why does 2 have this when 1 does not and blah blah blah.

I feel that they should just continue doing as normal, I view GR as CoH 3, and when (if ever) Coh2 gets released it should just be a huge friggen issue.
