  1. Hi,
Would anyone know of any fix for a GeForce 6800 for Vista Ultimate 32-bit? It appears that the screen is way to bright and washed out, the graphics are slow, and it looks very low-res.

    I'm running a Pentium 4, 2.8Ghz, ASUS P4c800 Deluxe 4GB RAM, Nvidia 6800 256MB, Vista Ultimate 32-bit.

How about a shot of X-81?

This is her regular costume, but her regular color is yellow, not red: http://home.comcast.net/~modean52/X81_with_Sword.JPG

  3. I like the guide, very helpful. My question is...could you show us some samples of doing some common things in COH/COV, such as a simple walking, execute power, running? And possibly a quarter turn camera change, that sort of thing? I'm experimenting right now, but I still need some help on getting things down. The site COH Codex is very helpful, but many things aren't named, and some COV stuff isn't listed either. I'll do some experimenting tonight or tomorrow and get back to you on that.

And so goes the death of my pvp. I was hoping for another FFA but one where the villains and heroes could join teams.
This is another Sirens. I love siren's but, don't need another.

Hrmm. Sorry, can't make everyone happy. If, at some point, they did a high level FFA, I'd go there too, but a high level "faction" zone is almost a "no duh" from the development perspective, I would think, and benefits a lot of toons on both sides.

For example...MMs usually get damage in their later powers, which would help make them a little more dangerous than they are in SC. My Energy tank will be able to install fear in villians with his mighty ET+TF combo, whereas the mighty Energy Punch + Barrage combo is nowhere near as feared. Not to mention Hybernate, which is rather crucial to my pvp success in any zone. Transfusion, Unstoppable, Granite, etc, etc, etc,...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Speaking of factions...how about a high-level zone where super villain groups battle each other for territory, and they can build and set up sentries to fight intruders? Say, a villain group, the Dark Evil Death Ninja Squad claims a building as theirs, they go in and fight the occupants (random mission spawn), and if victorious, they get the building and can use it how they want...they can keep going and going to control territory, and when other villains (or perhaps even heroes) come into the building, the villains lie in wait to ambush the villains! Still PvP, but in-mission PvP. And depending on the VG in charge, they could clean up or tear down, or redecorate the zone with things like icicles, fires, graffiti, Borg-like tech pieces, or something else to show their dominance and reflect their territory. Just my 2 cents on dynamic environs.

    It's Heroes vs. Villains.

Cool! I'll play it then...mostly for the dynamic environment, but that's cool factor! I just stopped a fire over in Skyway tonight...I like it! Keep up the little things in addition to the big things! And congrats on Statesboy too!

I am putting the requirements for Contacts - and their location - in the Prima Guide...

but here was our intent with these Contacts - reward Exploration. Reward people who poke around to find new things. Now, the down side is that once found, these Contacts don't inform the player about what it takes to unlock them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Don't get me wrong, rewards are good. But, would you consider some type of hints in-game for the non-forum, non-guide reading folks?

    [/ QUOTE ]

That would reward exploration if we could figure out from exploring how to find unlockable contacts...

    Two things...

I actually like one-shotting. But...it should work like it does with npcs - we can one-shot characters that are multiple levels below us, so it should do the same for other heroes/villains. I know this'll mean that a level 50 can one-shot my 21 scrapper. Stinks, but I do think Thor should smash Rocket Boy or Mustard Man in one shot too. Iron Man, or Captain America, probably not.

First...I confirm that we're working on right now (as in pohsyb in the next room) to add CoV costume parts into CoH if you own both games....

Then we repeal the hated stealth nerf. The reason why: many well reasoned posts. It's that simple. You guys pointed out the problems.

AND now...we're changing the way Archvillains spawn. A ton of forum goers disliked adding so many AV's into missions a while back...so we've come up with a solution. If the team size and mission difficulty are ABOVE a certain level, an Archvillain spawns. Below that, players will face only an Elite Boss. If the mission is set on the first two levels of difficulty, it takes 4 heroes or more to spawn an Arch Villain. On the third level, 3 heroes or more. On the fourth level, 2 heroes. On the highest (Invincible), a solo hero will spawn an AV. Note this works in BOTH City of Heroes and Villains.

In order to incentivize larger teams, Positron is going to add a bonus to AV rewards!

Thank you Statesman for listening to the players. Only ED remains to be taken care of, and all will be right in CoH.

Despite some complaints on my part, I do find this game loads of fun (moreso without ED and the changes to regen/invuln), and I appreciate that you listen to the players and will actually make changes as a result.

  9. Ok....

"What good did it do? It made the mid and high game more challenging and enjoyable. It meant that people teaming up had to work together, rather than sit at the mission entrance. It also means that other Enhancements started to get use... "

I guess being in the 20's is roughly mid-game, and the ED did nothing for me. It made my regen less usable and thus, I die more quickly, meaning I run away from fights more to heal, leaving my teammates in the lurch in a tough fight. How does that help my teammates, Statesman? I don't mean to be rude, but I do prefer solo-ing, but there are a few people I enjoy teaming with, and if I want to team, I will. I team up and my regenerative powers should enable me to last long enough in the fight that I can take out several bad guys with some tankers and maybe a healer and some blasters without dying. But currently, with ED, they do not. I play my set like I think it should be played: a scrapper. I go in and I scrap. My regen should enable me to last long enough in a fight not to die. I do play my tanks differently, too. They draw a crowd away from my supposedly squishier teammates (though my tankers are now pretty squishy themselves).

If you wish to keep ED, which I highly don't recommend, then at least modify it:
    1. powers which accept only 1 enhancement are exempt from ED
    2. enhance the enhancement bonuses
    3. decrease downtime as you level up. This would allow mimicry of a hero "training" or becoming a better hero.
    4. increase damage/accuracy as you level up, same as before.
    5. increase base stats of all heroes, including accuracy, damage, lower recharge times, etc. The enemies we face haven't been nerfed as far as I know.
    6. make health/endurance recharge more quickly as you level up, and/or increase the amount of endurance points as we level, just as we increase hit points as we level (this happens in most other RPGs all the time).

If this were to occur, I could probably live with ED.

In short: ED did not make my gameplay experience more enjoyable. Scrap it. Please.

  10. Most of the posts regarding ED I have seen are at least 60% against it, if not more. Is there anything being done about it?

  11. Since this is an "Ask the developer" forum, I'd like to ask what is going on with stealth. I take this power on nearly every character so I don't outlevel content anymore, so I can see all there is to see, as well as not to die trying to get to some missions that are in dangerous zones (it gets old really quickly). I've heard talk of some kind of suppression for this power...is there truth to this? To make up for a suppression, will there be a "stealth enhancement" for stealth, invis, grant invis, and phase shift so that we can increase our stealthiness and be less likely seen?

I've alluded to this in a couple of places, but I wanted to describe something we'll be doing for Super Reflexes quite soon...

Super Reflexes Auto powers (Agile, Dodge, and Lucky) now add some minor damage resistance. This Damage resistance starts at 0%, but improves as the caster loses HP. The Resistance kicks in at 60% HP (when HP bar first changes color) and markedly increases at 40% and 20% (again, when the bar changes color). We have not yet determined the exact values.

This change is in addition to the recent modification that gave most Defense Primary and Secondary powers resistance to Defense Debuffs (self Defense powers).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thanks! I might make a super reflex hero sometime...
My question is will there be a buff for stealth? My enemies can see me now with it on!

    James
  13. I'm kind of annoyed and depressed that I missed out on so much content now...I was more focused on levelling up than mining out my contacts. As a level 17 mutation origin, what can I do to mine out all my lower contacts to get all the contacts possible? There are a few contacts (Zucco) who won't give me missions now, but can I go to Daniels, Schnabel, or must I be tech/natural to get them to give me missions? I'm at Paul Garnier right now, and he's now giving me some clockwork/outcast missions.

    Thanks,

    James
  14. How do I create a battlecry? And link a phrase to when I attack an enemy? I'd do it if I knew how.
  15. Well, since I have several characters, here goes:
Synergy Alpha would coordinate with the other heroes of Paragon to stop looters and rescue citizens trapped in their homes and other buildings.
Elektra Girl would provide power for the city as best she can
Fire Girl Alpha would keep people in the Superdome warm at night, and use her firepower to evaporate the water.
Ice Girl Alpha would use her icepower to keep everyone cool during the day, so the helicopters could rescue more people rather than fan them off.
Fire Maiden and Ice Maiden would assist Fire Girl and Ice Girl in relief efforts when not stopping looters with Synergy Alpha, Honey, and X81
Patriot Alpha 1 would coordinate with the millitary and Synergy Alpha to manage rescue efforts
Honey Kisaragi would kick looters' butts with her martial arts and kitana blade.
X81 would use her claws and tracking skills to stop looters before they knew what hit them, dragging them back with Honey, Synergy, and the Maidens (Fire and Ice) to restore order in New Orleans.
Green Jenny would use her strength to move rubble out of the way to help reconstruction efforts.
Rockstone Alpha would use her stone-enhanced strength to help Green Jenny with reconstruction.

I have two archers as well, who could help deter looting, Robin and Aerin Hoode, sisters. I have two Irish-Americans, Banshee 007 and Sonic Siren, who could help entertain the people in the Superdome and other shelters by singing to them, when not patrolling with Synergy.

BTW...is there any way I can team up my characters with my other characters on a server? Combined, my heroes would rock!
