I think impale got stealth nerfed recently (after the official nerf).

I don't remember it being as weak as it is currently. Me and a friend were in sirens, spiking people. Two impales from hide with BU are taking off like 50% of a squishie's HP. This is without buffs on the target, and in sirens, where impale has always done more damage than in RV.

Not sure how to explain it. I told jimmay about it, and he said he'd ask someone in Renegades, but I guess he didn't.

I asked...but no one saw any difference so I was gonna test this weekend ;P
  2. seems like you miss it hot since you constantly make new accounts to post
  3. I agree spend the most money on your video card(s) - You can save a lot of money going amd and if you check out most sights - the I7 needs something like quad SLI before you see benefits.

If I had to build my system today I would get the amd phenom II quad core - and sink as much money as I could afford into a great graphix card.

Wolf_Shadow: Nearly all DDR2 memory that is operating with faster timings than JEDEC standard (CAS 5 for DDR2-800), require a voltage boost to make those faster timings stable. At the standard 1.8 volts, the memory should default to the standard CAS 5 timings and then you should be able to go into the BIOS and bump the DRAM voltage up to 2.0 V. The DRAM may even have it's faster timings as an alternate setting in it's SPD (just looked, it does). In the BIOS the memory timings (basic) and voltage settings are found on the "M.I.T. (Motherboard Intelligent Tweaker) page.

JImmay: Seasonic is an excellent power supply. The SS-550HT has 492 watts of power available at +12 volts. Yes it's more expensive than others in that class but you can't really go wrong with it. Only drawback is it has only 2, 6-pin PCIe power connectors and not a 6+2-pin for those uber video cards that require one.

Noyjiat: Big whoop. While DDR3 does have higher bandwidth, it does little for latency (time between asking for and getting the first chunk of data). Combine that with the increase cost (yes the prices are coming down), the fact the limiting factor in a Core 2 setup is the FSB speed and that most DDR3 motherboards are enthusiast class (read tricked out and expensive), it's not an reasonable alternative for someone on a smallish budget. You get more bang for the buck from a better class of video card or one higher rung on the CPU ladder.

why not go with the corsair 650 then? made my seasonic and the same price.
  5. meh I have a 4870 on my second machine - dping a respec is a nightmare - you have to move the cursor like 2 inches away and down from the io you want to place...

Single powerful card not always better that weaker sli - the 295 Nvidia's top of the line is just two 260's (granted 55 nm 260s) slaped together on one card...and it's 500+ bucks. I can get two 260's for 125 a piece these days ;P - and since I got the good power supply when I built my rig - I am going to do just that and use a 8800gtx as a dedicated physx card - FREEM!
  6. well according to anandtech - as of i7 the physx card added up to 80% peformance increase scaling to CPU.

    http://www.anandtech.com/printarticle.aspx?i=2828
  7. why is that cox is listed as a game that supports physx - according to forums all the physx card is, is an 8600 GT with no video port so using an 8800 GTX should work just as well if not better. It's not emulated it's dedicated.

I did find out after some googling, how to enable it (done through the control panel for the drivers)

Do you have a physx card? how do you know it's not a "pretty good difference" - forgive my poor wording. Substantial a better word?
  8. I understand you can use a second nvidia card as a dedicated physx processor - so if I were to run my gtx285 and 8800gtx - how would I go about dedicating the 8800 as physx? From what I have read on various boards - it is a pretty good difference.
  9. I would not get that power supply - for the money I would look at pc power and cooling or corsair or antec. 650 Watt min. The power supply is nothing to skimp on.
  10. is this MISS the same MISS from Freedom? (cuz I know you were on Justice too..) :P
  11. Depends on the resolution - I had a 15.4 inch hp with an nvidia 8300gs that did just fine in coh default install. My new 17" HP with 9600GT runs it buttah smoof.

You can go insane and get a sli or crossfire gaming laptop too but I would say depending on the screen resolution I would say a min of a Nvidia 9300 or ATI 4350 and DEDICATED graphics memory should do.
  12. Does COH support Nvidia SLI and or ATI Crossfire? I am looking to upgrade my video card since I now have a monitor that does 1920x1200.

    My options are

    4870x2
    gtx260 x2 in sli
    gtx 285 single card

obvioulsy if it does not support sli/crossfire my decision is easy.
