Oh yeah, both Fisher King and Zero Effect are terrific films.

Quote:Mrs. Doubtfire isn't a good movie, but there's few people who could pull that role off. De Niro mostly just mugs at the camera when he's trying to be funny. The only time he's genuinely funny is when he's being sardonic, as in Brazil.Well, that really is a matter of taste. Mind you, I didn't think he was funny in the 'Meet the...' movies. Then again, I don't really like Robin Williams' straight comedies either. Mrs. Doubtfire was pretty much stale **** compared to, say, Patch Adams, What Dreams May Come, Good Will Hunting, Insomnia or Dead Poets Society.

Okay, coming back. Jeez, Bubba, your tells confuse me.

Okay, I had time to chase a Chihuahua through the woods, back to the house and found and disposed of a tick crawling on my leg. Still no one is in the Hollows. I'll try you guys next week.

Just logged on Sesquipedalian. Heading to the Hollows. -

Robin Williams is better than Robert De Niro. There, I said it. Reason why I say this is because Williams could do anything De Niro has done, but De Niro can only do a fraction of what Williams can do. I can see Williams as Travis Bickle. Can you see De Niro as Mrs. Doubtfire? I rest my case!

The video was posted to a location that was not properly private. (Can say)

The video has details. (Can't say)
I have had to moderate this thread. (Can't say)
Please folks, it's a holiday weekend. I already have to work all 3 days of it, I'd appreciate it if we can help me out a bit and let this one go.
Thanks, -
When I was 12, I was 6'1" tall. How old was Big Mike in the Blind Side? Just saying it's not inconceivable. (Although I agree 1979 is more palatable.)

Lots of stuff by Hans Zimmer has what you're looking for, particularly tracks like "The Kraken" (which I adore beyond reason) from Pirates of the Caribbean and "German Battlefront" from Gladiator. A lot of his score from The Dark Knight takes a while to build, but I quite like "Aggressive Expansion" and "Like a Dog Chasing Cars."
Danny Elfman tends to over-rely on typical sounds, but I really like "Hellboy II Titles" from Hellboy II: The Golden Army. "Introduction" from that soundtrack is also good. He was totally channelling someone else when he wrote the score for Terminator: Salvation, it's really un-Elfman, especially "Final Confrontation," "The Harvester Returns" and "Hydrobot Attacks." "Slaying the Beast" from 9 is good, too.
John Williams has some classics that might work for you. "Raiders March" from Raiders of the Lost Ark is great. Although the fourth Indy film was no great shakes, Williams had a lot of terrific tracks from it, including the march, "A Whirl Through Academe," "The Adventures of Mutt," "Jungle Chase." And of course, "Duel of the Fates" is Williams' modern classic, from Phantom Menace.
Similarly, the soundtrack from Star Wars: The Clone Wars (which I think is the animated show) is really terrific. Almost every single track is a winner. It makes me want to run around the room and pretend I'm a Jedi.
Ramin Djawadi did some cool stuff in Iron Man, especially "Driving with the Top Down," "Mark I" and "Mark II" and "Merchant of Death." He also kicked out the jams for Clash of the Titans, particularly "Eyes Down," "Redemption Through Blood" and "Release the Kraken."
Craig Armstrong did some great work on The Incredible Hulk (the most recent one). Standout tracks: "That Is The Target," "Abomination Alley," "Blonsky Transforms" and "Hulk Smash."
Michael Giacchino is one of my favorite current composers of programme music, so almost anything he does is right up there. "Nero Fiddles, Narada Burns" and "Enterprising Young Men" from Star Trek are great. Almost anything from The Incredibles.
James Horner also tends to repeat himself but so what? "Surprise Attack" and "Battle in the Mutara Nebula" from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Naturally "Ripley's Rescue" from Aliens, and "Flying Circus" from The Rocketeer.
The Transformers soundtrack by Steve Jablonsky has a ton of great tracks, but especially "Optimus," "Scorponok" and "No Sacrifice, No Victory." (Odd how bad movies have some of the best soundtracks, isn't it?)
Don Davis' score for The Matrix has the very good "Morpheus is Fighting Neo," "Mr. Wizard, Get Me the Hell Out of Here" and the awesome "Freeze!"
Thomas Newman's score for Wall-E has great things in it: "Eve Retrieve," "The Spaceship," "Wall-E's Pod Adventure," "Tilt," "Desperate Eve' and "Hyperjump."
"Battle Without Honor or Humanity" by Hotoei Tomoyasu from Kill Bill Vol. 1 has become a modern classic.
"Scooter Chase" from Bolt by John Powell is super.
Mass Effect 2 has a good score: "The Attack," "Legion," "The Normandy Attacked," "Grunt," "The End Run" and "Suicide Mission."
Almost anything by the group Two Steps From Hell will suit you. They do a ton of trailer music and all of it is condensed awesome. -
Quote:I'm somewhat confused by the level of response to this.
(disclaimer, I'm in the EU and so don't even get the option of these shinies, so I may not be running at a full rage/bile quotient)
People on these board have been screaming for marketing to do something, anything to promote the game.
So Marketing are now doing something to promote the game.
Cue board rage.
Whuh?Quote:It's not the Enhancements themselves...frankly, I'm not really expecting them to be all that valuable, even to my new characters. The principle bothers me, though. Whether it was "deliberate deceit" or not, it does still affect my ability to trust in what I hear first and makes me much much less likely to want to pre-purchase any products like this in the future. I've already paid extra at this point, and to find that that purchase is going to be of even less relative value than expected is more than a little disappointing.
I didn't pre-purchase anything because I assumed something like this would happen, since the company has done it before, just as I've not bought any more Booster Packs as I assume there will be a bargain-priced "get them all" promotion sooner or later. -
Quote:That's an interesting notion. I am helpful in real life, so I tend to bring Defenders along on teams of friends, but I'm also an INTJ (Myers-Briggs personality type) which means if I'm given the choice between a group activity and staying home alone, I will always, without question, chose staying at home. So it shouldn't be any surprise that I tend to like characters who can solo. My four 50s are 3 Blasters and a Brute. For me I've found that I play buff- and heal-heavy Defenders and Controllers because they fit well with the "heroic" aspect that drew me to this game in the first place.
Sometimes I need to bring out one of my Blasters after a rough day at work, rough commute, fight with the gf, etc.
But I find that the "care-bear" aspect of buffing and healing matches up pretty well with who I am in RL - I'll always stop to help a confused-looking tourist...just TODAY I found a Blackberry on the subway and made sure it got back to its rightful owner (not the first time I've done this)... I'll give give my seat on the subway to seniors, pregnant ladies, disabled, etc...
Wondering if the same holds true across the board.
Quote:If you've got alt-itis - would you by any chance be a hoarder in real life?
For me, altitis is about expressing creativity. In that regard it is not a *reflection* of who I am but actually who I am. I've never suffered from writer's block and don't understand how anyone could have such a problem. I have the opposite issue: too many ideas.
Quote:If you spend a lot of time building/tweaking your SG base - are you a "nester" or perhaps an actual architect in RL?
I feel somewhat the same way about the AE. If I could have the freedom to design missions in an intuitive interface similar to the character creator, I'd be making missions all day long regardless of whether anyone played them. I just find the tools too frustrating to use. Which also annoys the inherent "systems designer" aspect of my personality. -
I don't like very much anime, but I really enjoyed My Neighbor Totoro, Porco Rosso and Wings of Honneamise. The last one is quite different from a lot of anime in that it tells the story of an alternate Earth's first astronauts trying to get into space amidst a war. Very much an old school science fiction tale.
Same deal with cartoons, but I actually quite enjoyed Spectacular Spider-man, which has good writing, excellent story development and superb acting. Bonus is the very good direction. Plus the stories develop over a number of episodes. Some are better than others, of course, but overall it's a definite recommendation. -
I know! I got a raise without warning and then today got extra chicken tenders with my meal without the waitress giving me a heads-up! It's aggravating!

What's the pool on me up to right now? What's it up to? What is it, three hundred dollars -- is that it? Three hundred? I'm a forum poster. I post threads in this little forum called Comic and Hero/Villain Culture. The last six years, I've been at Paragon City. I was a Blaster in my super group in the spring time. Back home when I tell people what I do for a living, they think, "Well, that... that figures." But over here it's a big, a big mystery. So I guess I've changed some. Sometimes I wonder if I've changed so much my wife is even gonna recognize me whenever it is I log off -- and how I'll ever be able to tell her about threads like this one. Sleestak... I don't know anything about Sleestak. I don't care. Man means nothin' to me. It's just a name. But if, you know, if going to the forums and posting so he can go home, if that earns me the right to get back to my wife... well, then, then that's my mission. You wanna leave? You wanna go off and fight Arachnos? All right. All right, I won't stop you. I'll even put in the paperwork. I just know that every noob I flame, the farther away from home I feel.

Please tell me you aren't sleeping with the thread.
