Not too bad but I still say they should hire the player that made that other I10 preview on youtube to do their trailer work. This video felt like it was just giving me an overview of the zone where as the player made video actually got my really hyped up to play I10.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, to be fair, this was the "Zone Overview" trailer, much like the "Invention Overview" trailer we did for I9.
[/ QUOTE ]
Or all the other zone overviews for CoV as well, I still watch the Sharkhead Isle one that Thomas Foss narrated every now and then. -
It would've been better had the Fae been summoned to resurrect the Freedom Phalanx and fight back the Honoree.

I suspect that faction switching is the new feature they hinted at coming up in Issue 11, judging by this.

There was an old copy of PC Gamer that mentioned stuff that would be implemented around the time of what was then the old Legends System:
"The long-awaited crafting system
Called invention. At level 15, you'll be able to start earning invention skills in one of three areas - arcane, engineering, and natural sciences. Then, by salvaging items dropped by defeated enemines - such as mystical swords, gems or gadgets - you can research and develop new enhancments. And when you reach the highest levels of inventing skill, you'll be able to craft temp. powers that can be sold to others players.
Accompanying the invention system
Will be a new villain group called The Battalion that is so powerful that you'll need some of the player-made temporary powers to defeat them. This group will hunt heroes and villians alike.
Going Rouge
Got a hero with a dark side? He'll be able to on a mission where he'll face an enemy who will test his will. Kill the bad guy, and you've sent your hero down the path to villiany. Conversely, if you have a villian seeking redemption, you'll have the opportunity to spare the life of a Longbow agent's family member, proving that some good still exists in you after all. You'll be able to make the switch as often as you like, but it'll cost you in some way, such as losing all your influence or enhancements."
We got the Invention System (albeit changed) and The Battalion has now been mentioned as well, that just leaves....... -

how did you do that? I that the name of your villian on another server, is there a certain mish that makes them say that, or is it just one of those random things they might say?

I have no idea
EDIT: This is on virtue where I've already stolen the name Turbo-Ski for myself, so I went with TurboSki for the hero version.

I know someone on Virtue that had the same thing happen to them, their name was Varlet though, which made it more amusing. -

The Vanguard is hinted (ie: someone proposed it and Posi kind of said ... Maybe...), anyway, hinted to be the liasons for the co-op zones. They're too grey to be heroes, but they're not villains. They're like Manticore/Batman/Captain Pragmatism.
They believe that the ends do indeed justify the means. They see it as the only way to ensure survival and victory. Boy Scout heroing will not cut it in what's to come.
[/ QUOTE ]
Blimey sounds like my SG "The Few", I'll have to have a word with Lady Grey -
I love the detail on his arms and the shading on his legs is also pretty impressive.

I am still waiting to hear back from Captain Pride, the Costume Contest winner, however, I have a handy screenshot of him in his winning outfit.
I've also made several (very) rough outlines of positions for the picture while waiting.

That first pose is awesome.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, I spoke with our winner.
He asked that I use another character (which is fine, since he won the commission, and not the toon) so he sent me reference shots of Izik Dragoon.
Now, obviously there are enough similarities between the two characters that I'm completely justified in recycling the poses (and since he said specifically that he had no posing preferences) so I started to flesh out the one both Sov and fuzzywuzzywombat endorsed.
More work upcoming.

I'll miss the comic, regardless of it's hit and miss stories. It needed to be treated as a comic, with a steady writer who understood the world it was set in (Hello Troy Hickman), however it was treated like a red headed step child by the guys with the money. There was no reason it couldn't have been a great stand alone book, but as with all things NCSoft, it would appear, their stamina and vision were lacking resulting in too garbled a mess of crappy art here, uninspired writing there. The only arc that was pure crap was the introduction of the Korean NPC's, both art and writing were substandard. It's no surprise it's not selling. It's no surprise it was cancelled.
I'm going to be incredibly cynical here and say that there is no way this is going to happen with the inevitable Marvel Comic of the MUO game. Which is sad as it's just going to be another cape and tights book instead of something a little special, like we had.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's true; it tried to adhere to the game world too closely and that I think limited it's scope, a lot, we all create characters within the confines of the game but I don't think we all limit their potential in our heads or stories that we make up for them.
The only other thing they could have done was to have a comic based around upcoming issues, like a lead-in, which obviously they're doing with the last two. -
Oh and another thing, couldn't we have a mix'n'match of different dual wield weapons, say like for example: Axe/Sword, Mace/Axe and Sword/Mace as well as the standard Axe/Axe, Sword/Sword and Mace/Mace types?

There was probably a thread on this I missed because of weak search-fu, but whatever happened to distributing the 'new powerset for every AT' that was once advertised for the since-cancelled new box edition, among Issues 9-12?
If I9 and I10 come out with no powersets, and the devs are only considering new sets for at most 4 ATs in I11 or I12, what happened to the rest?
Not to bash this efforts, scrappers and tankers need the love first, but is there a long term plan for the rest?
[/ QUOTE ]
We did plan out Power Sets for the retail box, but we've gone the route of free updates instead (woohoo!). Yep, we had some planned...and we thought about just putting those into updates as schedule permitted...
but then we thought it'd be cool if we polled the players what they wanted first. Not all of these power sets are of equal difficulty - some are tougher than others - but they are all possible. I can't promise exactly when it'll get in, but please know that we've heard loudly and clearly that players want new power sets.
BTW...Ball and Chain was my little addition last minute. It would be just be SO cool!
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm guessing we won't be able to "customize" the look of these new powers? say for example having different shaped shields and being able to use different patterns from the costume creator to texture them either at character creation or when you go to Icon? -
[ QUOTE ]
As I mentioned a little while ago, we really want to focus on what the players want...that's why we decided to go with this poll. Most of these Power Set ideas came from you guys - in the Archetype and Suggestions boards!
Enjoy!
[/ QUOTE ]
Blimey, we need better suggestions -

If you go to the Information terminals, it also mentions under "Nemeses" a villain group called "Siren's Call Phantoms". Spoiler? Typo? You be the judge!

Exactly. They're so damn righteous and "pure" that, like some people's interpretations of Longbow, they've gone all the way across the line to intolerant jackbooted fascists.
(See also: the Malta Group, making the world safe for Western democracy (hm, no, scratch that) capitalism and non-metas. Of course, to make it truly safe they have to control it...)
Anyway, yeah. Looks like another "heroic" paramilitary group that Knows What's Best For You. And if you disagree, you're obviously a terrorist, er, alien... an alien terrorist! Yeah! Those filthy aliens, coming here to destroy our cities, take our women, steal our jobs, and corrupt our precious bodily fluids...
[/ QUOTE ]
Personally, I think its going to come down to what their purpose is. The Vanguard's purpose according to what we've read is to seek out Rikti tech and then keep it out of the hands of individuals who would do bad things with it. That means EVERYBODY trying to get their hands on it..Heroes included.
I see villians doing the most fighting against them, but I also can see heroes coming to odds with them because they're either aliens themselves, non-humans, and/or "We specialize in fighting the Rikti, just stay out of our way rookie". Maybe missions where you run into them raiding a base and you end up having to fight both because their orders are to "Leave no survivors". Yeah, its another "We know best" group, but it doesnt have to take on the constantly sinister and "Wow the heroes are jerks" level that the rest of the game puts off from time to time.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sounds like one hell or a reason for heroes and villains to ally together....
[/ QUOTE ]
Arachnos also uses Rikti technology, just check out the info on the Arachnos Flier next time you see it in Mercy Island, I'd also assume that their drones are based off it as well. -

Hints for Issue 10 storyline:
-The Dark Watcher (from the first CoH novel), two sisters called Borea and Levantera, british woman called Lady Elizabeth Grey, a martial artist with a spirit helper called Serpent Drummer, and some unseen guy called Gaussian are The Vanguard
[/ QUOTE ]
I assume you mean this one:
Lady Grey 1
Lady Grey 2
Though she's called Victoria, strange.

Yeah, all of the department heads in Vanguard are from the CCG. Dark Watcher got his start before then in the Web of Arachnos novel.

One thing I've always wanted to know is, who were the other three members of the Elite Five and are they going to appear in connection with the Vanguard story? -
