  1. Whee, too bad i deleted my EA brute. Maybe I will make another one now. I have kind of fallen in love with my damage aura from /Fire, though.
  2. I'm up for the freaks respec if team level can be sorted out. Idris the scrapper is lvl37.

I'm considering dropping Ice Sword Circle in the 1st respec, because I find the end usage silly too, and the animation is ridiculously long. It also recharges really slowly. The only problem is that then Frost Breath would be my only AoE/cone attack... so I just don't know.

Think I'd rather the endurance and recharge decrese than damage, dont mind not being the damage king but have to wait a long time for attacks and feel the end/damage relationship isn't great.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes I think I'd prefer that as well. It would be a subtle difference that would in no way overpower us.

BTW, I take it Frost Wolf is your dominator? How did you find life at lvls 25-30? Is Frost Breath any good, or do you have it at all?

I have an lvl24 ice/ice and feel that with Ice Slick and Arctic Air I make a big difference in teams. My damage however, except when Dominating, might as well not be there, it feels so negligible. I'm hoping things get better when I get the attacks slotted with SOs.

Pre-stamina, soloing was hell. I could blow my entire endurance bar killing three even con minions, without using anything but Block of Ice and my 3 single target attacks. It's a little better now as at least I don't run out of end mid-fight anymore, but I still think the mobs are basically bored to death. I was doing an old mission to finish an arc the other day and it took me at least 3 hits to kill a -6 minion (they were Heroes if that makes a difference).

That said, increasing damage much would make us über.

I think dominators could maybe use a little tweaking, such as reducing the endurance costs for the secondary, maybe even recharge times for some of the powers. Or maybe a tiny increase in damage after all?
  6. Ice all the way! Ice Slick and Arctic Air make a wonderful blapping combo that you can get early on as long as you can sort out the endurance problems. With 2 or 3 DO endreds in it AA isn't that bad.

I do envy the the sets with mass confuses a bit, though.
  7. I am Finnish too. And the other day the Swedish villain group tried to recruit me because I complimented them on their SG colors, that totally made them look like ice hockey fans.

Actually I think there are a lot of Scandinavians, compared to other countries except UK and maybe Spain.

Spines has ranged attacks, two, the rest are melee. I didn't need to move away. Or Brawl.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Are you sure you didn't mean to say that you didn't need to use anything but Brawl?
  9. OK, I admit it does sound a bit sad but still I'd say logically a duel is where Regen should shine. I'm assuming you were running IH and DP, which you can't do all the time in PvE. Maybe even MoG in the end? DA is all toggles, isn't it?

Also, for regen it makes a huge difference if it's 5 hits after each other (a PvE spawn's alpha strike or PvP team concentrating fire), or 5 big hits after each other. For the resist and defense sets the difference is not that big.

Oh, and another thing, Spines is ranged. That's got to be a big advantage against another scrapper.
  10. I think regen is the best solo set. It is not best in teams larger than three or spawns larger than 5. It doesn't surprise me that regen would win DA in a duel, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it's the best set overall.
  11. I can testify it works pretty well, especially on a smallish team that has bitten a bit more than it can chew

And hey, no retiring the scrapper!

En/En is definitely not a gimp set. At least to level 11 it is perfectly playable. But not if you try to tank. A brute cannot stand there and take it all on the chin forever like a tank can - you have to put opponents down fast. Build up fury quickly by using brawl and your lowest power couple of attacks (rapid recharge + low endurance cost) then start hammering things into the ground. Don't pause between mobs and let Fury go down.

Oh and slotting for disorient duration can help with large mobs too.

Or possibly people have unreasonably (from dev's PoV) high expectations for what they should be able to take on.

    [/ QUOTE ]

OK, I don't really think that any powerset in the game is so gimped it's unplayable. In fact I had lots of fun with my energy/energy up until lvl 7, although I didn't notice much benefit from the secondary (took 1st and 3rd tier powers).
The energy primary is great, and I suspect that damagewise Brutes are very well off in the early game when nobody's got anything but a few TOs in their attacks. Fury helps a lot there.

But now I've also played Energy/Fire to lvl10, and it definitely performs a lot better than /Energy at lower levels. With a better tier 1 shield and a self-heal (which feels weak but helps anyway) I get much less downtime, which means more Fury, which means quicker battles, which again means less damage taken so less downtime. I feel like I'm suddenly riding express train.

People keep saying you shouldn't tank with a brute. I don't really expect to do that. I play mine a lot like my scrapper, although I have a feeling my regen scrapper was considerably weaker defensively pre-lvl16 and Integration. However, looking at the upper tier powers in the energy secondary, I get the feeling that it's supposed to cater to a bit different playstyle than the other. How are people using Endurance Drain and Energy Cloak, in particular? Is the drain noticeable, or do you just use it to refill your endurance bar? The old elec blapper practice of stealthing into a mob and opening with a Short Circuit comes to mind.

But this is all moot in the early game, where all you can get are subpar defensive toggles and passives. The status protection seems great and you get it early, though. I will need to look into the pools to fill a few holes on my /fire mez protection, particularly knockback and immobilization. Lucky I like Super Jump but it will be painful to wait until 20 or 22 for knockback protection. I felt like I was constantly on my back in the few council missions I had. Those grenades are evil.
  13. Yeah, I have that problem too. Most notable when fighting some big hitters like AVs. I get killed when DP goes down because I don't notice it and approximate that I can easily survive one more hit. Requires being even more alert than usual with Regen.

Actually I'd even like some kind of sound effect when long duration clicks like DP, IH and Hasten wear off.
  14. Hasn't DP has always buffed an unenhanceable 40% max HP before? Or at least as long as I've played, which admittedly has been only 3 issues. The healing enhancements only buffed the heal portion of it.
  15. Now testing in the training room from the US boards:

    * Powers that increase your Max HP, like Dull Pain, Earths Embrace, and Kuji-In Sha will now be affected by Heal Enhancements. That is, Heal Enhancements will improve how much the target's MAX HP is increased.

Awesome if it makes it to live. I would be so happy to see a buff instead of all the nerfs lately
  16. How come the devs are currently boosting the STALKER energy aura and not this?

I just rolled an energy/energy brute yesterday. Whenever I try to make an uninformed decision I always end up picking the gimp.
  17. A corruptor: zomg we need a healer!!! Who are healers in CoV?!!
    Me: corruptors

Silly or not, that felt pretty satisfying
  18. After trying out 12 levels of ice/emp controller I have immense respect for anyone who can stand having a targetted heal on low levels..
  19. [ QUOTE ]
Pyro, if you ever need someone to go through Numina again with you give me a shout. I'll gladly give you a hand. Your mines and sniping took care of more than one difficult mob, and it was a pleasure to team with you. Really sorry about your missing out on the badge.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Count me in as well if you ever need help with this.
  20. If you decide on Saturday I'm in. As a scrapper I'm an excellent sniper-er-er.
  21. Alas, I'm on Union. But I'll keep an eye on energy blasters then. Thanks.

Jumping in the middle of a unsuspecting mob, then doing ET followed by Build Up, Lotus Drops and Flashing Steel could be a nice way to alpha-strike. Right now I do it without Energy Torrent, but if the mob is too big their alpha strike basically kills me. Could be something to try on the test server.
  22. Well I need to quit early tonight and I'm 2 hours ahead of you if you're on GMT. But we might have time for a few missions around 7-8pm?
  23. Sounds great!

Feel free to send me a tell anytime. I'm Idris in the game as well, or Jadis if I'm being evil. Or do you want to set a time?
  24. Hey, I'm getting both!

The way my accuracy has been lately I feel I need to go for an overkill. I'm hoping it's a bug, though, but I really feel it has gone to hell.

And if this gives me 95% accuracy against +3s, well.. I'm not gonna complain
