trying to hit the alt key and numpad key is a pain sometimes. I rarely used it on my emp. I still have it though.

Quote:fire melee rocks for damage. The two AoEs are very nice. I am going to slot mine up for my next project. I have it on my main account so I will keep it.Okay, so I got impatient and just leveled the tank to 47. Fully IOed, it's not too shabby. I won't be taking down any Pylons, though! I think dave_p was right on the money when he said it's solid AoE/cone damage but not so great for ST. If I were to start over, I'd probably choose SS over Ice Melee.
-
"Ice_Ember, that wasn't a bad build, but some of the slotting was very wierd. Like the End/Rech in health? Why? Also, active defense's recharge wasn't enough to have it on all the time. I did a little variation on the slotting and think it's a little smoother. A bit more expensive (maybe not, considering I didn't use HOs), but I feel its more efficient in the long run."
Cost is why the End/Rech. You are maxed so I could not justify the cost of the other IO's. I was going for the economy build.
If you have LotG +Rch, Active Defense is perma. I forgot to adjust the slotting for that. My build on live has two recharges because of that. -

I dont know how this will look on screen... so if it looks like poo, then just use the data chunk or link.
This is just another build to look at for ideas. I have a 50 SD/Ice and if I was going to keep it this is how I would spec it out. I would add LotG +rech as I could, but they are not game breaking for it. I enjoy the one I ahve when I play it, but it is on the second account and I think it is going away. I have an IO'd out Stone/Fire which I use primarily for TF's and such so this was just an experiment. Sad when you think of a 50 as expendable. (Shame I cant merge the two accounts together... but that is a different tangeant all together.)

Quote:This. Seriously. Nothing takes the joy out of tanking than a team that doesn't know how to let the tank lead and herd. Why the **** do I have to type "herding to here" 50 times in a mission?
Tanks by no means are needed for a team to do well, but if you happen to have one let them do their jobs and by the 10th herd the team should know its a herding tank and what their style is and don't mess it up.
Here are some binds I used on my ice tank. I need to put these on all of my tanks. Refer to numpad7. I have most of the common things for herding and grouping and what instructions the team needed to know what I was planning.
put a /bind in front of each to use, I copied this from my toons bind list in options.
NUMPAD0 "team Greetings $target"
SHIFT+NUMPAD0 "team Gretings All"
NUMPAD2 "team same thing again"
SHIFT+NUMPAD2 "team Change in plans..."
NUMPAD3 "team Ready!"
SHIFT+NUMPAD3 "powexec_name rest$$team Resting for a Minute"
NUMPAD4 "team Advance forward"
SHIFT+NUMPAD4 "team Get here please"
NUMPAD5 "team Back up please"
SHIFT+NUMPAD5 "team BACK UP!!!"
NUMPAD6 "team Attack in place"
SHIFT+NUMPAD6 "team Wait to attack please"
NUMPAD7 "team Here is where I am bringing the scum"
NUMPAD8 "team Please stay back, I am gathering some scum" -

Quote:It is the addition (+) key on the number pad. Any time you press it, it activates healing aura.Question about the first bind under Empath. Where did you put that bind and what's it supposed to do?
(Have the others but forget to use the bind keys (or use them in the wrong order.)
One thing I started doing a while ago, after all these binds was written, was to put the second shield power from FF and Ice and Sonic onto the numpadadd key. You target the teammate with the initial numpad number, then hit the add key to give the second shield. This way the shift, alt, and ctrl keys do not need to be pressed.
A few more binds.
/bind NUMPAD9 "assist" (This targets the target of who yuo have currently... everyone needs to have this bind.)
/bind add "powexec_name Sonic Haven"
/bind numpad1 "+ $$Team_Select 1$$powexec_name Ice Shield"
/bind numpad2 "+ $$Team_Select 2$$powexec_name Ice Shield"
/bind numpad3 "+ $$Team_Select 3$$powexec_name Ice Shield"

These are mouse controls for speed boost, but can be easily changed to any of the other buffing powers. I made these during the Hami raids when I was on taunt team. This way you did not have to be on the team, just near it and can still easily buff all that are near you.
/bind shift+mbutton "powexec_name Speed Boost"
/bind alt+mbutton "powexec_name Increase Density"
/bind shift+BUTTON4 "target_friend_near$$powexec_name Speed Boost"
/bind shift+BUTTON5 "target_friend_next"

Another example for sonic shields.

/bind shift+add "powexec_name Sonic Barrier"
/bind subtract "powexec_name Clarity"
/bind [ "powexec_name Sonic Barrier"

I use the "o" button for oh crap powers... or the number "0" for those which have more than one.
/bind O "+ $$powexec_name Transfusion$$target_enemy_near"
/bind O "powexec_name Aid Self"
/bind P "+ $$powexec_name siphon speed$$target_enemy_near"
You actually have to have the toggles for this to work...

/macro AM "team Gather for AM if you want the buff"

Quote:Level 1s vs the mothership - epic stuff
Also, if co-op AE is now allowed at level 1, could you please consider moving the AE building from the RWZ to pocket D? It makes way more sense to have an entertainment facility in an entertainment area rather than in a zone where full scale battles are raging.
You could put it on a separate floating island, like on the opposite side of the dancefloor from the ski slopes, and make a bridge or portal across to it.
I think it'd be a great move to give Pocket D a feature that would encourage more people to go there.
I can second this. -
Quote:Some people are waiting for the Obamaputer to resolve everybody's computer deficiencies and spread the computer equality. This way all computers will be low end and suck... just like everyone else's.Auto heal I can agree with 100%. However call me insensitive but I don't have lag issues at all, so why should or would I think to turn off my other toggles while shopping? SJ, SS, stealth and acro are always on. If I am playing something with shields, they will be on.
I do turn off things like hotfeet, not because of lag but because running through a zone with an aoe or pbaoe power on is just retarded.
A few weeks ago someone rudely messaged me and "told" me to turn off my frackin super speed that I was lagging them out. I kindly turned on every toggle I had and told them to rudely go /wrists for not having a decent computer and connection. Normally my reaction if asked nicely would have been much more helpful.
TLDR version....realize that a HUGE percentage of people that play this game are playing on highend pc's with awesome connections and are not intentionally trying to lag anyone out. -
Quote:BTW I am loving the RWZ thing. I would love it even more if they ensure that the generic repeatable missions can be done by level 1 characters. OR ELSE if there is an AE in the RWZ.
Is there an AE in the RWZ? I would love to do some AE teaming in the AE (or RWZ generic missions) with villains and heroes together from 1-50.
Lewis
There is an AE in the RWZ. I am thinking this will allow lvl 1 heros and villains on the same team and move the AE spam from Atlas to there. -
What happens if the team leader crashes and the star is passed to another?
If the star is passed to a higher level will everyone go to that level, or the opposite, the star is passed to a lower level and everything spawn is the deepest shade of purple?
Another question on the exemplaring down and TF's. Does this mean you will keep powers if you XM down to the now dreaded Positron TF? Does this mean you will no longer have the level spread of level 10's and level 15's (etc) in TF's? -
Quote:Does this mean you can walk a level one villain and a level one hero to the Rikti War Zone as long as they are on a team with a 35+ leader?Yup, but the requirements still exist on the Hamidon zones and the PVP zones.
Maybe this will get all of the AE farms away from Atlas and move them to the RWZ if this is indeed the case. -
Quote:that is not the same logic at all. all powers versus the key powers of the set are very different things. My point isn't that I don't believe that there are some powers that should be taken for the sake of the powerset. My point is that someone shouldn't claim that in order to "play the AT as it was designed" you have to take those powers. I feel that that's being presumptuous in assuming what the developers had originally intended for each powerset/AT is all. I could just as easily make the argument that if you don't take every power from your primary and secondary then you're not playing things the way they were intended.
Not that I believe that, it just holds the same logic is all.
my simple answer is this... dual builds. you can play your gimp build without RI/EF, Unyeilding, etc alll you want to, but when you are playing on a team that wants the benefits of the powerset you have chosen to play, swap to that one.
That way the non speedboost fire/kin farmers can have their farming build, and when they play a TF or team with folks that want a kin for the speedboost they can provide it.
most people are too lazy or cheap to SO out a second build, but to each their own.
I wont team with with a person who has to be carried by the rest of the team. A rad without toggles or a tank without unyeilding is being carried by the rest of the team. If you dont like it, dont team with me. To each their own. -
Quote:you would enjoy being on a team with an empath defender who did not take*sigh* May as well say it now.
I wish I could understand where you're coming from, I really do, but unfortunately I don't know how someone not having the same powers you would take from the set would cause them to 'not contribute.' I'm sorry, but until you can find a statement somewhere in the documentation that says "You must take this power in order to play the AT as it was intended in its design," then I'm afraid that you're being incredibly presumptuous in your statements.
heal other, clear mind, fortitude, or adrenalin boost? (or any of the other empathy powers?)
I would not team with am emp who did not have the basic team buffing powers. I relate that directly to a rad who did not take RI or EF.
I know a person who currently plays an invuln tank without Unyeilding. Needless to say the team carries the tank. This same person played an emp without clear mind (and I was continuously stunned on my scrapper while fighting malta -this was a LONG time ago pre IO's) I do not team with that person often, and when my patience wheres out because of the team carrying a player who does not have the powers which are very important to the set, then I know it is time for me to go elsewhere.
I dont dislike the person, but I dont play well on the same team. (for the record, it is not BA...) -
The slotting I use for Frost are two Acc/Rech (taunt sets) one rech (taunt set for additional endurance bonus) and three dam/range HO's.
Overall, this is a very nice write up on Ice Melee. Nicely done. -
Quote:With SO's only, you can get a SD tank to 40% to everything. It is better than my fire in all of the missions i have run them in. both are /ice melee for comparison, and both only have SO's.Burn needs help. Consume needs help. Already said that Fiery Aura needs help... said it LOTS of times in many posts, starting well before Shields came out. However, people do tend to sell it short. Shield Charge is great and all, but it's not the be-all, end-all: your primary has a lot more effect on your AOE capability. Hence people liking the idea of Shield/SS or Shield/Elec, etc. That was my point, which people kind of looked over and instead pointed at me talking about one combination of powersets (which I admitted as well).
Fiery Embrace really should affect all damage types for the 20 seconds, and then it would probably be okay. I think people need to look at it more as an addition to Build-Up, rather than to be used on its own. You can double up both powers, or use them separately for a longer time with +damage.
Also, I really wouldn't want to take Shields with just SOs, either. Mine is great at the def cap, but it can still get squishy fighting lots of DE or Veng-stacked Nemesis, which I've done a lot with him: if he wasn't at the def cap, I'd notice his issues a lot more. You can pick up a lot of power pools to to get close to it if you're just using SOs, of course, but that does limit your build a fair amount, too.
So yeah, Fiery Aura could use some help, but it's not like some have painted it on the forums.
FE with a 20 sec duration still will not compare to AAO all the time or SC every 45 seconds. -
