False Fiction, thanks. I'd appreciate that. My guy is from toggle instant heal days, so VERY old lol.
Organicide, TY for the additional input. I'll be sure to put it to good use. Much appreciated. -
Wow, thanks for the very fast reply Organicide. It's funny, I've been contracting at a company called Organic.... Anyhow, I've got Mids, and I probably should have stated in the OP that this character is level 40, so still leveling. I've been also reincarnating some other toons and have gotten OK at making some money on the market, so purchasing some recipes/enhancements is not a "big" problem, though funds are limited.
It's funny you mentioned barb swipe and confront. In my attempts at builds in Mids I did skip those, but that was it for Spines, and I was taking everything in Regen. Hasten and combat jumping were two pools I really wanted (undecided on SS or SJ but leaning SJ). I'm figuring fighting is warranted, for tough and weave, but not sure. Having trouble fitting it all in before the epic pools as well.
Thanks again. -
Hey all. Returned to game recently. I'm very old school, from beta to a few months after villains came out. I've been bringing some old chars out of the garage, and my spines/regen is one of them. I can't seem to find any recent guides or builds based on IOs and inherent fitness for this combo. Does anybody have a sample build they can post for me? I have my own play style to accommodate for, but a couple examples would be cool. I found a recent DM/Regen which was helpful for the Regen, but I'm sure Spines primary may change some slots or pools here and there.
Thanks everyone. -
Yes, that's correct. I find it easiest to look for the same color. For example, a heal enhancements is always green no matter it's origin.
-
Eeek, thanks for the ideas! I don't mind trying out more of a fire loaded build like that. I must admit though, I miss doing that wolf mission where we pulled an entire map into a dumpster loaded with trip mines lol.
Thanks again. Btw, I've been making all my new toons on Freedom. It seems the most populated. -
Hey, thanks plainguy, I'll do just that!
-
Quote:Really? Hrmmm. It might be worth trying it, since I used to love playing that character.I will slightly disagree, you could ticket farm in the manner I outline in Low level farms and your Blaster.
Use Fireball, Rain of Fire and calthrops and you could farm tickets.
I remember at one time AoE damage was limited to a certain number of mobs, like 8 or something. Is that still the case?
Thanks for the reply Infernus_Hades. -
ClawsandEffect, thanks for the reply. It looks like a lot more has changed than I first thought eh? I guess if it won't do well farming, I'll continue with my fire/kin controller for now. I just always had much fun with this blaster.

Hello everyone. I'm returning after many years. I played beta to an issue after CoV came out, and I'm looking to fix up my favorite 50 to current standards. She's pre-ED, so far outdated. The most recent guide I could find is from I6, so even that is really old, pre-inherent fitness. I've looked at some fire/* guides, and */dev guides, but not sure how to account for targeting drone when using sets and such. IO sets are so confusing to a returning player I'm afraid. Does anyone have a current build they could post? I've reworked a fire/kin controller, and have a medium idea on how to use the market, so I think I could afford some non-purple sets.
I'd like to use this char to farm some AEs and join TFs and other things for making money on drops to IO my other toons, but I'm not sure if that's plausible. I thought about taking flame mastery to get bonfire, melt armor, and fire shield, and using a tripmine tactic then pull with melt armor, and hide behind a corner with caltrops a turret and bonfire, hover, and aoe my buttocks off to finish what chased, but that may be dreaming. I'm just not sure these days. I know a lot has changed since 5 slotting damage in all my attacks with perma-hasten LOL!!
Anyhow, at risk of feeling silly, here is a very unfinished start to a build I was considering. I've not completed slots because I got indecisive, and I'm unsure of what I did here. Any help would be awesome. Thanks in advance to any help.

I didn't know some of that. It will come in handy! -
OK someone just got lucky. I accidentally posted a bid of like 1.4 mill instead of 14000. F my life LOL.
-
Local Man, thanks for that. I feel like I should have remembered this stuff, but is has been a while LOL. Thanks for the refresher.
So, for Clutch, and you all that have helped out so far, I am posting an update. I had 145 million to work with after transferring from a bunch of toons. Here is what I've done so far, and surprisingly, with a little patience and time spent on the market, I've gotten these IOs with a total of 47 million. It's not all the stuff recommended, as I went for lower than 50 level stuff, and other sets, as prices demanded where I had to. However, I tried not to go below 35 wherever I could. A few in the beginning I did go a little under 30 since I did not know how much it would cost me total. I'm confident that with what I've learned that I can finish most of the IOs recommended at decent levels and get a good start on farming. I so appreciate your help everyone. You've all helped me learn a great deal. Please feel free to keep comments going, as I'm checking this thread a few times a day. Again, thanks!

Wow, great info everyone. Thank you so much! I knew about the tip missions, as I have been leveling a MM, and took her to the hero side. I didn't realize the value of doing them over and over for merits, however. Great tip.
I had already done the respec last night with Clutch's original build, so I'll probably stick with that at least for now since I don't have any free respecs left, which is kind of surprising considering the time gone. I had a couple other chars with 2. But, that's OK. I will try to work out which sets I can afford at this time, and SO the rest until I work up the cash for more. I think a steady diet of tip missions, AE, and some place I read about called Ourburos (not sure of spelling) will supply me with lots to craft and sell. -
Wow, I can't afford 1/2 of those IOs, but I'm also tired and vision a bit blurry, so I'll take another look tomorrow. Perhaps I'll look at the other sets in the same category to see if there is something cheaper. BTW, why are 30ish IOs higher priced than lots of the higher level IOs?
-
Thanks for the tip Hyperstrike! I'll give this a shot. Please don't laugh, this character has not been used since before ED. Ah, the good 'ole days.

Well look at that, it worked.
As you can see, I need some serious help updating this to current issue. Check out those (6) damage in imps! LOL.
I guess it would be smart of me to use some of the money I've got to IO the more important powers. I have to spend money anyhow to change around all these enhancements for ED. Although now that I think about it, I'll get all the money back for the enhancements in the respec. There's some more cash.
Thanks for the help all.
-
Infini, thanks so much for the reply. I could not figure out how to take screenshots of my enhancements screen, so I took a few pics and pieced them together in order to show you the current build. I noticed that this is so old it's before ED! LOL! I'm not opposed to changing anything at all.
and I cannot get the image to post...... grr. -
Hello. I've returned after a few years off. I've started a few new characters that I'd like to get slotted with some IOs, so I would like to use my 50 Fire/Kin controller for a little farming for salvage and tickets to try and make some money on the market or get some useful recipes for the other characters. It's build still has fitness, so I know I need to respec, and I have all SOs. I've been searching for a few hours, and I can't find any builds that use SOs that aren't so old as to still take fitness as a power pool. Can anyone point me to a thread or a decent Mids datalink? I'm afraid if I follow an IO build, without having IOs, that my power and slot choices will be poor. I have like 30 mil on her, and maybe 150 mil total on all chars if SOME IOs would be considered very smart to get before starting.
Thanks everyone. I've missed this game, and so much has changed since an issue after villains came out when I left LOL. -
Hey, I'll reply, and bump this along. I've had a Bots/TA since villains first came out. I left after the following issue to play on the dark side (wow), and just came back a few weeks ago. I started 2 new chars and got to SOs. I have a few 50s on hero side, but not villains, so I want to continue my highest villain so I can try out one of the unlocks. I'm glad to see this post, because I've not been here since fitness went inherent, and I am struggling to understand (and afford) IOs for my chars. From what I knew in the past, and what I've learned from much reading lately, this seems like a decent build. I can't comment as to the latest content of course, as HOs were the last enhancements sought after from what I remember LOL. But I do recall that TA is fairly low end usage so the extra toggles from leadership should be OK, especially with the IOs. I see it's been a while since you posted, so if you have an update since then, I'd really appreciate it if you let me know what you have learned.
I do notice that you don't have a travel power though. That would be a pain unless you have a group with recall friend. -
New powersets for the existing ATs. Everytime I find myself getting bored, all I have to do is make a new alt and I'm happy trying out new stuff. Problem is I'm running out of new stuff. I tried the Kheldians for a while and at the moment don't find them fun.
On the powersets, I'd like to see something for scrappers that feels more "superheroish". Swords and fists don't feel that way to me except when dudes go flying. How about being able to throw someone? Maybe a little street fighter 2 influence for sets.
I would not have thought of it myself, but the casino sounds great! I love playing cards.
