Bots/TA build, for your review
Hey, I'll reply, and bump this along. I've had a Bots/TA since villains first came out. I left after the following issue to play on the dark side (wow), and just came back a few weeks ago. I started 2 new chars and got to SOs. I have a few 50s on hero side, but not villains, so I want to continue my highest villain so I can try out one of the unlocks. I'm glad to see this post, because I've not been here since fitness went inherent, and I am struggling to understand (and afford) IOs for my chars. From what I knew in the past, and what I've learned from much reading lately, this seems like a decent build. I can't comment as to the latest content of course, as HOs were the last enhancements sought after from what I remember LOL. But I do recall that TA is fairly low end usage so the extra toggles from leadership should be OK, especially with the IOs. I see it's been a while since you posted, so if you have an update since then, I'd really appreciate it if you let me know what you have learned.
I do notice that you don't have a travel power though. That would be a pain unless you have a group with recall friend.
I've been running on SOs with my Bots/TA and it's time to upgrade. This is a second-tier character for me but that doesn't mean I don't like playing him, I certainly do, however I'm not going to break the bank for him. "Good enough" in this case, is good enough.
I whipped up a build, figuring to emphasize ranged def. Took Scorp Shield for the s/l/e. Recharge was a secondary concern, but I built for it when I could.
Notes:
I can't resist Lysosomes in Bots, call me a dirty sploiter if you wish, but I like getting buffs to Acc, Def (past ED) and -ToHit.
s/l/e/range def appears to all be in the low 40s.
Back of the napkin math shows Prot Bots to be at 21% def, rest of bots at 32 and change.
Yes, I'm going to hop around with Ninja Run, though I could be persuaded to take SS instead of CJ or Repair (especially Repair), for full invis.
As for how I intend to use him, I'd say for kill-many tfs (non-speed), but I wouldnl't mind him being at least able to contribute on speed runs. Probably for some +1/x8 missions every now and then, maybe not.
This truly was a "whip it up" exercise, so I submit to you, the MM community, for review, for suggestions, etc.
