Ooh, I think I can see where this is going. Stan and Lou have one last contact off of that fortune cookie they were given. Now they've been told about the Terra Volta Respec Trial, and just who do we Heroes fight in said trial?

    [/ QUOTE ]
At their level? Gee... uh... I dunno. That would imply that this whole thing is somehow planned.
  2. Don't worry, Boudicia, I think we know whose posts are being nuked; just don't reply to him.

Use Justified alignment for the column text, this gets rid of the 'ragged' edges and makes it look more like a news print collection.

    [/ QUOTE ]
We can try that. I suspect that full justification will behave very differently from one browser to the next. MSIE barely supports columns.

Thank you for the rest of your comments, though. I'm sure we'll be looking over all the comments more closely as the day goes on.
  4. Absolutely. My theatrical warm-up, to get my mouth and tongue ready to deliver my lines smoothly and without error, is to recite the chemical elements to the tune of "I Am The Very Model of a Modern Major General." (Thanks, Tom Lehrer!)
  5. I've finally got the next Stan and Lou script written. It was a bit harder to get this one down than I had expected. There was so much I wanted to do, but making it fit, making it comprehensible, and making it funny... well, I'll let you be the judge of that.

    I'll record it tonight.

P.S. If you thought the pronunciation of 'Talos' was bad, wait until this episode with 3l33t Haxxorx from the Fr3aksh0w...

    He he... he pronounced Tay-los.

LOL - it immediately reminded me of that Stan and Lou clip.

What can I say? I'm ahead of my time.
  7. Not those voices, no. Right now I'm playing a lawyer from Mississippi, who works in Memphis. Previously, I've played an Egyptian stockbroker, a London military sergeant, and a New York humor columnist. I've also played a sultan, an oily Russian diplomat, and a Hispanic fire chief.

But I've never used these voices before. I have quite a few voices, you see...
  8. Sorry, Tundara... Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights I've got performances... Sunday I have a matinee. Hopefully Sunday evening, or Monday, I'll be able to get another Stan and Lou.

Fortunately, after that, I'm all done with THIS play (and move on to the next one, for which my burdens will be much less).
  9. Thanks, Marcian... but I have to give you due credit about the idea about the gun recipe being prohibitively expensive. I was trying to think why "filling him full of holes" wouldn't work, and you had the answer.
  10. I'll let you puzzle that one out.
  11. How's about some more Stan and Lou, a bit late this week?

Stan and Lou in Independence Port
  12. That cheers me up, _Wyll_.

I never really sat down consciously to try to write these scripts with anybody in mind except myself. I put into them the things that make me laugh: absurdly logical beginnings that lead to specious conclusions, fast-paced dialogue, the incongruous combination of a stupid guy using big words, and poking holes in the game world from the inside. I like Stan and Lou to use language that is just a bit profane, but neither explicit nor R-rated, because I figure it's a teen game — "crap" gives the right impression of rudeness without being over the top.

But I don't really think to myself, "Who is going to laugh at this? Is this just too bizarre? Is this suitable for children? What will people say?"

I'm glad that so many people appear to enjoy them. Maybe it's because Stan and Lou don't willingly suspend disbelief in their world, as we gamers do: to them, the weird rules of the game is reality.
  13. Don't worry, I went to bed last night thinking of what I could do for Stan and Lou that wouldn't be a bitter rant about Inventions. I tested out my Family voice for the Kunsigleer... Consigliere... whatever, and I found the proper angle for the next episode. It's the kind of thing that's only funny at 4 a.m., maybe, but if it's still good enough when I get it on paper, then so much the better.

I think I'll try to record it tonight, when I get off work.
  14. Sorry, everyone: no Stan and Lou today. I've been in a foul mood all weekend and it's very difficult to find something about COH to laugh about. If I had tried to write any comedy it would have come out bitter, and you deserve better than that.

I'll try to be in a better mood tonight (Wednesday) and see what I can do. It will probably be Family, in Independence Port.
  15. That's not what I have in mind for the Sky Raiders, Ein_Dose... but why do you say so?

The next few episodes are taking shape, though... for Warburg I'm leaning toward Longbow and nukes. I like Dmitri Krylov (or Boris the Russian) for Cap Au Diable, too.

I know how I'm going to handle the Sky Raiders and the Freakshow and the Family. The Vampyri will probably be on Striga Isle (and if you've been listening, I've been careful to talk about the Fifth Column but not the Council — there's a reason for that).
  16. I've been contemplating the order of the upcoming issues, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to put #30 through #35 in the Rogue Isles:

    30 - Siren's Call
    31 - Cap au Diable
    32 - Sharkhead Isle
    33 - St. Martial
    34 - Nerva Archipelago
    35 - Warburg

I'm open to suggestions on what I should cover in those areas. If there is a particular villain group, contact, monster, event, or mission that is found in those zones, speak now. I'm flexible. I just want to cover as many uniquely villainous things in those 6 episodes as I can. After all, I can make fun of Vahzilok, Freaks, and Carnies hero-side.

For instance, for Cap Au Diable you might pick Goldbrickers, Luddites, Arachnos, the Black Market, or Facemaker... just to name a few things peculiar to the zone.

I figured it out! Stan & Lou are the Abbot & Costello of Paragon City.

    [/ QUOTE ]
It's no coincidence that they're named Stan and Lou.

    STAN Laurel and Oliver Hardy
    Bud Abbott and LOU Costello

And speaking of "Stan and Lou Meet Lucsa," you've given me an idea for the episode in Stryga Isle... er, I mean Striga. Stryga. Whatever.

P.S. I keep forgetting to do this, but I want to thank Kuros_Paladin for obtaining the background sounds in Bloody Bay. It must have taken some nerve to stand still with all your toggles off in the middle of a PVP zone to record two minutes of silence...
  18. You thought I forgot all about him, didn't you?
  19. By the way, thanks to the Tanker named Frozen Fly on Pinnacle for helping me to record the battle at the end — Vahz, Clocks, Trolls, and a Shivan all mixing it up with Earthquake thrown in for good measure.
