I'm marginally okay with CSS. Meaning I know my way around a stylesheet, but I usually don't jump into making themes for pre-existing whatchamahoozits like DA, MySpace, and Blogger. That said, I'll look into it. Thanks for the suggestion!

This is a repost from the Virtue forums, but since this is the art forum, I reckon this belongs here as surely as anywhere else.
--------------------------
Hey there. Not too long ago, I started making banners for the Virtueverse pages of some of my SG-mates. After showing them off on the Art forum, I managed an art trade with Lady Judgement who made an awesome picture of Mr. Z and Kaijitsu, characters belonging to myself and my wife, and filled a request by Plasma Stream, a long-time friend in City of Heroes.
Some few people in my circles have suggested I sell them. I don't know if they're worth selling - honestly, I'm not an artist, but I know my way around Photoshop fairly well. But lately my hunger for a new Kensington Expert Mouse led me to pick one up at a closing CompUSA yesterday. Unfortunately, this was a financial boo-boo, and I have to figure out ways to pay for it now, without unbalancing the rest of my budget. One might say "Why would anyone pay a hundred bucks for a trackball", but I can say with absolute certainty that the Expert Mouse is the best trackball ever made, and given my personal situation, I find myself using my computer from the confines of my recliner, and a trackball works so much better on the arms of an easychair than does, say, a mouse. (I say that way because I'm here by doctor's orders. Were it a matter of choice, whereby I could say, "Hey, I'm gaming from a recliner, rock on!", it would feel less confining.)
But anyway... a hundred bucks (plus tax, plus shipping, whatever). Not normally a difficult amount to set aside, but things for us, like things for everyone else, it seems, are rather tight at the moment, and the money spent yesterday on the trackball is money that could be better spent elsewhere. So what I want to do, in order to raise the money needed to justify the purchase of said trackball, is sell Virtueverse headers in exchange for cash toward the goal of paying for my new Expert Mouse by Kensington. I'd set the price for each banner at something reasonable (which won't get posted here, since that's apparently a boo-boo (thanks for the heads up, Soul_Train!)), which means I'll take an hour out of my time to make you a cool looking header graphic for less than the price of a medium pizza.
So there you have it. If you'd like an idea of what I can do, visit this page (because Deviant Art was acting weird). Some of the headers are obviously more detailed than others, but they should give you a good notion of what I'm capable of doing.
If you're interested, PM me on these boards and I'll get back with you as soon as I can.
Thanks!

And the subsequent first commission:
Just sent this one to ZephyrWind, which started out as this one. It's for his SG, Project Slipstream.
(And a big thank you to ZephyrWind, too!) -

We have those "mannikins" Juggertha, they were about $20 each and are pretty could if you light them a certain way, you can get decent shadows... They're better than the old wooden kind. I'm thinking you want one of those beefed up collector toys... you may wanna check Toys R US if they have the equivalent in Korea.

Yeah, all I'd really like is one male and one female collector posable figure.
Kind of like these, but the bigger the better.

My sons each have one of these Fully Posable Incredible Hulk Action Figures. That work? -

Second (or maybe third or fourth) after a Redname.
Not that it matters.
I'd be interested.

Yup.
Things got a little busy and I closed the window before the PM got sent. *grumbles about silly Positron Task Forces*
PM is on its way.
Guess what... You're the first person interested in voice acting that didn't send me a PM. lol
Anyway, I need you send me the times that you'll be avilible to record so we can set up an audition date.
*Hando Cason is getting verry excited by the positive responces so far from fellow players and red names alike.*

Your quotes are a little messed up there.

You know, this is not turning out to be a very good thread upon which to post...
*chuckles*
PM Sent, reply received. I'll speak with you on Monday. -

Wow! Very impressive, LJ! Kaijitsu was just about tittering with excitement. She loves it, and so do I!
Email address is in your PM box... thanks again! -
That's looking really, very nice, LJ!
Looking closely at what you're doing, I just have to shake my head in amazement. The devil's in the details, they say, and this is why I'd never be able to pull it off as an artist.
Well, that and no talent. *grins* -

Based off the movies? So suggesting Glorfindel or Tom Bombadil isn't going to work, huh?
/me mutters something about two of his favorite characters being left on New Line Cinema's edit room floor. -
*shrugs* I find bases add something for those of us who roleplay.
-
I have to say, I'm excited and impressed. Could I make one request? Zen's eyes are completely white - no iris, no pupil, just white sclera that sometimes flashes gold.
I don't mean to be picky or to look a gift horse in the mouth... just wondering if that would be possible. -
Right... Sinister gloves and boots, and not the ones with the pad, black and gold. They come with the Good vs. Evil pack.
-
Wow... that's really nice! Jade (that's the little woman) really loves it!
-
You're very welcome. Honestly, you're seeing the second permutation of it - the first one was okay, but I made a small change and suddenly I was very happy with it.
-
3 Eastern? Sure. Send me a global /tell as @Zenvious or @Foundation. I should be on here in just a few minutes.
-
Here you go, Plas. I've got to say, it's another one I'm not quite sure about, but I hope you enjoy.
As it was for Plasma Stream, it had to have some sort of science connection, so I did it as a vacuum tube with a steam of plasma inside, forming the name. Still, there's more I would have liked to have done with it, but I might revisit it later when I've had some time to think about it. -
By the by... I'm willing to make "art trades" like this with others, too, though I must admit that most people who frequent this forum could probably do as good a job or better than I creating these wiki headers.
-
I'm using an old version of Photoshop, Plas. I'm pretty sure you could do the same in GIMP. Sometime, though, I'm going to have to get a newer copy of Photoshop - I'm told it has some fun new toys.
BTW, Lady Judgement... there's an image in that thread, if you want to take a look at it. Lemme know what you think, and what you'd change.
