So all these responses and no data? I was wondering if slot machine is 30-35 or 35-40 or some variation? I farmed the greys and got the gangbuster badge. Yes, it was tedious. Now, at what level can I see the fruits of my labor? I'm lvl 33, and have tapped out all my contacts (3 'earned' contacts from Nerva, 3 'earned' from St. Martial). I can do newspaper missions, do a "get the Loot" mission from Ian the Shark every 5 missions or so, but I still don't have the Slot Machine contact. Ian won't give me any new contacts.

If you did the slot machine contact, what level were you when he first gave you a mission?

Was it Ian who introduced you to Slot Machine?

If you got Slot Machine and he no longer would speak to you, what lvl were you?

    Focus people!

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, Ian doesn't introduce you to him, you have to talk to the Slot Machine. He's here. Last I heard he was a level 30-35 contact.

    [/ QUOTE ]

TY! I just found him(never been in the giza before except to talk to Hard Case, that place is much bigger than I thought!).

And I can confirm that at lvl 33 he is giving me missions. I'm off to do them now. Thanks again for the tip Hermod!

    You're welcome.
  2. Why is it that Heroes don't get inanimate contacts? You never see a Heroes getting tips to foil Malta from a TV.

Thats nothing compared to the unlockable Port Oakes contact. One that gives missions that cap at level 12 but in order to get them you need to trap ghosts which are level 12 themselves and worse still when enough go into the traps it spawns around eight level 15s with bosses.

    Utterly pointless.

I took the time to get the badge before I hit eleven and do Veluta's missions. They're nothing special, no badges either, but she gives you two story arcs and they both explain a bitof the history of the ghosts in the Rogue Isles, and expands on what's being done with them, by them, and to them in the present.

Which I still have and probably won't find a use for ever again. So now I have an amulet that summons fire imps, a bone that summons zombies, a gun that kills ghosts and a grenade that kills ghosts in my ninth power tray. I'm startin' a collection!

    Hey guys,

Manticore funded *and* founded Wyvern. The rest of the Phalanx are not aware of that however.

Really? I didn't get that at all. It sounded like to me that he payed a Mercenary group to jobs Longbow can't.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The reason I disagree with your interpretation is Manitcore's choice of the word 'funded' instead of 'payed'. When one hires a company or professional on an occasional basis, one pays them for their services. Funding an agency or individual implies a much closer relationship where one pays the day to day expenses and maintenance fees of said agency or individual. For example, the U.S. Government pays Boeing to build planes. It funds N.A.S.A.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I can see that. I suppose I just made the adjustments in my head to say funded = payed. Alright, looking at it like that still doesn't mean he founded them. Manticore seems to agree with their philosophy. So he gives them a check and passes along jobs Longbow is to selfrightous to do. Or funding them to keep them friendly with Longbow.

They share his attitude towards crime and he pays them to do jobs for Longbow, but is otherwise in no way involved. Sharing his attitude sounds alot like inspiring them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think you're the one reaching here Hermod. Manticore says he funded them to do jobs that longbow couldn't. That implies he had a significant say in their purpose. Manticore also doesn't identify any other sources of funding. It could easily be read to say that Manticore provides all funding for the group as well as providing both practical and inspirational guidance for Wyvern. I'm not sure where you get the idea that he pays them to do jobs for Longbow. That's a rather unlikely interpretation of what he wrote IMO.

It actually sounds to me like he IS the founder of Wyvern based on what he wrote.

Manticore funded Wyvern to do the jobs Longbow couldn't for one reason or another. Wyvern as a whole are not as concerned with political niceties and are focused on results. It is likely that many of their agents share Manticore's attitude toward fighting crime.

Valkyrie Looked quickly at the downed Billyboy, "Kid!" She yelled as she looked at the Warhulk. She lunged foward with her spear hefted for a shot at the robot's power source should be. Bullets flew and knocked her to the ground, the ancient nanites of her armor took as much of the blast as possible. But the damage done by the Warhulk hd already taken it's toll on the armors durablity.

She quickly picked herself up and quickly knocked over several of the soldiers in her mad fury. The spear danced as she tried to take another shot at the Warhulk. A Jaeger split open and unleashed it's whirling blades. She didn't see it coming, the blades bit into her leg, while it bearly made it through the armor it was enough to trip her up.

She tried to get up quickly as the large storm cannon was pointed at her. She thought that she might be able to cut into the robot and disable it. She fortunately didn't have to make that decsion. Instead, a missle hit a patch of Jaegers tearing them to pieces. "Halt in the name of Longbow! Put your guns down and we won't have to rough you up.!" One of the three Chaser boomed over a speaker as they approched. The Nemesis troops didn't look to eager to follow the orders.

    ------------------------------

The Uberjaegerpanzer was being torn apart by the robot horde. Most of the troops had fled from the scrap robot's endless assult. The gaint Jaeger stepped on one of the Cannon Princes. From the crushed constructions body came four small Gears. Each of them started to climb the robots legs.

Other Gears had already done the same and climbed into the small space that seperated the robot's top half from the lower half and were activately doing their best to tear it apart. Pieces of metal were removed, wiring was torn out, redundant systems were compromised. One of the Legs suddenly disconncted as an industrious Cog ceased cutting through it. The leg was already being salvaged for pieces as the top stopped turning and the main cannon failed mid shot. The gaint Jaeger was all but ready for it's mass reconstruction into Clockwork Constructions.

    ---------------------------------------

Positron looked at Brainframe, he already knew he would end up regeting this. But at the moment he could do no where near the damage Nemesis could. "Right, knowing Longbow, they'll go right for the center of the madness, Blyde Square." Positron floated up, "All give you support from up here. Just focus on getting there and taking down any Nemesis soldier who gets in your way." Positron knew it was risky going straight for the center of the chaos, but right now his sidekick was trapped in there, nothing was going to stop him from getting to her.

I can understand where you're coming from, but you also need to recognose that not everyone likes that, and some people (such as myself) outright hate it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You know I hate it when people put things into my mouth, I did state in that post that:

" alot of us crafters don't mind if the process of putting together something took no skill as long as the gathering did and the end result is useful."

I did not say ALL of us crafters do nor did I imply thay everone has the same opinion as myself.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But there's still the point that this arguement is meaningless as Statesman has never said anything like this about Crafting, but about Skills. The only relation the two will have will be that they're used out of combat.
  15. Tal_N, Statesman never said that about crafting, he said that about the skill system. Skills probably won't have you out killing gaint spiders to harvest webbing or what not. It's probably going to be along the lines of, "Alright, I can search the base for the Card Key or I can try Hacking the door" In which case you'd walk up to a computer terminal, click on it and your rank would detrimine if you pass or fail. That's it, all there would be to it. While with crafting theres a build up and an end, Skills would happen in a split second without anything else. Inheriently that's pretty boring. So Statesman wants to make that interaction interesting in some way.

Now the Invention system will probably work just like the current crafting system for bases. But Skills are a different matter.

The choas of the streets seemed to be reaching a turning point already. Nemesis had already taken quite a few hits to his army. Even the massive force couldn't hold up to continued abuse from Heroes. It was going to take alot of effort but they could win this battle. Supertaster cut a Nemesis automation in half with his flaming blade when he heard the heavy crunching sound. Something very heavy was walking down the street.

He approched the corner quietly and quickly took a glance at what was coming. It looked like Jaegar, only more onto the idea of a tank. A single large cannon protuded from the top half which seemed capable of turning. Instead of the normal four legs it had six. Supporting it on either side was a line of Nemesis troops.

It must have spotted him as the cannon turned and launched a massive charge from it. The troops kneeled and took up fireing positions. The charge hit, Supertaster decided he really didn't want to test the limit of his powers just yet as he tried to run from it. Once it connected it exploded, the flames engulfed Supertaster and then expelled him. He hit the ground hard.

The monsterous robot continued it's advance and several troops looked for the hero. They didn't find any remain and took it that he had been vaporized by a direct hit. They continued on as Ayura tried to get some sense back in him. "Uh, what the hell was that?" Supertaster asked, he wondered how he got into this alleyway.

"A very large Jaegar." Ayura said.

"Great, what would he need that for? What's he going to do? Tear down the War Wall? He'd need something bigger than that." Supertaster said as his ears stopped ringing.

"I don't know, but they seem to be heading for the Copper District." Ayura said helpfully.

"What's there that's worth while? I mean, besides a door to Preze..." Supertaster stopped talking as it hit him, "The hospital is there!"

(OOC Hey Kellis, I hope you aren't mad about me using your characters for a bit. Sorry if you are. And welcome to Brass Monday. And I hope I got them close to right when they talked.

As for the super Jaegar, think of it as a Gaint Monster)

(OOC: So sorry, I blame life in general. I'll tey never to let that happen again.)

Positron sent out a transmission over the villains private channel. "Freedom Phalanx. I need help immedately. Hell, we'll probably need the Vindicators and Longbow if we can manage it." He waited for a moment for the response, "Over?" He said unsure. "Hello? Can anyone hear this?" He asked despreately.

"I got you Posi." Manticore responded. "But, we've got a bit of a problem. Nemesis some how took control of several tractor trailers and smashed them. They're blocking the entrances to Steel Canyon. We're working on clear it now."

"Wait, why isn't Statesman or Citdel doing anything about it?" Positron said, knowing those two that makeshift barricade would last two seconds.

"Citidel was backing up some Longbow with Luminary on the Rogue Isle. He says he's on his way, but it'll take a bit for him to show. But I have some good news, in about five minutes you should see some Longbow Eagles and Chasers clear the War Wall."

    "What about Statesman?" Positron asked.

    "Well, Statesman wa-*static*"

"Manticore! Damn it, where the hell is Statesman!" He nearly screamed. He looked down at the villains below, "Alright, slight snag. Help is coming, but it's blocked off. Longbow might show, so you might want to keep your head low when they show up." Positron offered, "The're abit zealous and not prone to asking questions before arresting." He paused as he saw the Fake Nemesis blown through by another Hero and the robots. "Hey you, down here." Positron amplified his voice over the armor.

    -----------------------------------------------

The Warhulk looked at Billyboy and turned to face him. "Ah, the Gearsmasher. Yes, you've been trouble before." Said the old voice. He slightly released Val and then clamped down on her again and got a very satisfying grunt for his effort. "All Heroes must die, Lord Nemesis was very specific about that."

Billyboy grabbed his signature shades ready to lower them like a death threat. The Warhulk raised it's gun and fired just as Billyboy fired a shot of pure energy. The energy cut through the arm holding Valkyrie with easy as it dropped hydrolic oil spewed from the wound.

The bullet hit Billyboy in the chest. He would have laughed at this pitiful attempt. He had survived much worse than a bullet. The only thing stoping him from gloating was the poisonous gas that came from the bullet and filled the air. He gagged as he ran, to paniced to fly, out of the gas cloud. Valkyrie slowly bleed on the road. All the Nemesis troops were to focused on Billyboy to do anything about her.

So basicly, you need to have a respec left to work with Leary, interesting.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, yes & no. At first, the MM had only done one respec (the first one) and hadn't used it. We started doing his Leery missions and they worked just fine. Now, when he turned 37, he decided to use his respec, so he could sell his enhancements. After he used his respec, Leery stopped giving him missions. We then did the second respec trial, to see if an open respec was the thing that unlocked Leery, but this didn't work.

So, from what I gather, only having an open, unused respec can unlock Leery (at this moment). The minute you use a respec, no matter if you have another open one left, he stops giving missions. So I think he's bugged atm.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Alright, that's a very odd bug and needs to be fixed soon.

    New theory:

Leery requires you to have both un-respecked badges.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not how it worked for this friend of mine (the 37 MM). He had only one unused respec (not having done the second one yet) and he could get Arbiter Leery's missions. In fact, he now (after using his respec) has a mission from Arbiter Leery stuck in his missionlog. We finished the mission, but he cannot clear it out of his log, since Leery won't talk to him anymore.

Edit: in fact, I'm quite certain that this can't be true. This level 40 Brute, who has only done the first respec too (but not used it) could do all Leery's missions (we did them last night).

Missing one badge or trading in the un-respecked badge for the respecked badge will turn off Leery.

Yes, this doesn't make sense, but that may mean that Leery is slightly bugged. Still needs confirmation.
