My sweetie and I both won Nakayama sketches. Awesomeness. DN is such a nice guy, too. We have gotten some really amazing convention sketches so far. Can't wait to upload them!
Congrats to all the winners! I can't wait to see all the neat stuff everyone got this year.

Yes you sure did Masked! Yer nicely immortalized on the COH twitter page! lol -

I've only hit CC twice so far but got 3 sketches from David during that time. was due to him splitting time between TC and NCsoft but yeah. He's so talented and such a cool guy too. -
looks awesome Larissa, yeah keeping a recording of that being down woulda been a topper to that, but still its great!
-
it is. I've been watching Nei do her colors when I get the chance. It's pretty trippy watching artist do their magic. Next best thing to watch artists do their "sketches" at cons. heh

*perks up* wha? who? bwah? I hear Phoenix? yer coming down here? cool! what kinda job ya gonna be out here to interview for?
on yer way down here can you drag Rich with you and make him try the get a job thing here again?
oh yeah.. 2XP weekend..... not sure my plans. prolly just solo as I usually do, maybe jump into some TF/SFs, get the chars I have around the 40s to 50, I dunno

I did not know you lived in Arizona, Heri. It's an attorney position with the Federal government. To say more would be to jinx it! But if you have any Federal contacts....
But do you like Phoenix? I'm bringing my wife and turning into a long weekend so I can experience the city a bit. At worst, it will be a nice short mini vacation.
Yes, Ulli, I could be leaving your neighborhood. I expect you to eat my cookies - I do not take offense!
[/ QUOTE ]
Yup, Arizona native. nope, no federal contacts.. Most contact I have with anything federal is the income tax.
I like Phoenix and Arizona well enough. I lived in Mesa, one of the East Valley cities in the Metro Phoenix area, pretty much my whole life, so while I wasnt' born here, I guess I'm considered a native since I can't remember ever living anywhere else. I was born in Colorado and lived there and New Mexico for my first 3 years, so my parents tell me.
AZ is a bit pricey in some cases. average rent for a 1b apt tends to be $500-$800, depending on location. The weather, or heat, is naturally the thing that comes up most often. I don't mind it, but I've lived here long enough to consider the year divided into two seasons: summer and golf.
You'll be arriving at the right time to get an idea of how a pretty heated a AZ summer can be. It's a nice place to live. There's something for just about everyone and there seems to be a decent sized CoH playerbase here.
Where ya stayin and what have ya got planned for the weekend? -

or replace them with Love Fists, then he'll really have problems, double the band members... *will eventually get out of this GTA:VC state of mine, dunno when though*

Gratz Mike! the TPs unlocked at 6 is a really nice vet perk.
I created a new char after I logged in and city traveller was awarded and took a travel power at 6. Felt so weird to be able to bound around the zones with a non temp travel power that early lol.
Regarding Mids, I updated the version to get it current as I could and I didn't see a way to be able to select the tier 3s at 6 yet.
Regardless, have fun with the new perk! -
wow.... just wow.. I love how transparent the Talsorian bow is so you can see what's behind it, as well as the little details of the circle for the combat aura laser.

I was teamed with the fantastic Hericane, who remade my character, Naomi "Eventide" Voss-Illsley into Naomi "The Fox" Hills, a transformation that I'm incredibly happy with, but is also a difficult act to follow.
We were given the theme of "ancient" to work with, which I really struggled with because I didn't want to put Hericane into a normal Roman/ Samurai/ Knight outfit and be done with it. Instead, I tried to allow her background to push me towards one theme or the other.
Hericane is a pretty complex character, but at her core she is a classic guardian archetype and I chose to represent that with an armoured and noble look. I experimented with a number of concepts, making her a commander in Imperious' army, then a Luddite defender of Cap Au Diable. In the end I settled on making tying her into the Crusades, a protector of the pilgrims travelling through the dangerous, bandit-filled mountains passes of Wallachia and Muntenia on their way to the Holy Land.
Unfortunately, armour and nobility came at the expense of some of Hericane's sensual look, but who says you can't be sexy in battle armour?
Without further ado:
On the banks of the Black Sea
Observing from a position of command
Examining the battlefield for clues
There are many tales about the origin of The Hericane. Some claim she is an avenging angel, risen from the grave, others that she is not from this world at all. The most widespread story, however, is that she a simple peasant girl, blessed by the Zâne of the Black Sea to protect those who would visit its shores.
For decades the passes through the Carpathian Mountains had been infested by the bandit-kings who fed upon the stolen wares of merchants traveling from the sea to the markets of Wallachia. With the kingdoms boyers more interested in their own wealth than that of protecting the trading route, many merchants took a longer route to the south rather than risk their deaths in the mountains which meant vital supplies of food and medicines were lost to the people inland.
When the Vatican called for every man in Wallachia who could raise a weapon to journey to the Holy Land, the people began to plot a journey that would allow them to avoid the mountains where they would be easy pickings, and rally at the shores of the Black Sea. The journey, which added months to their travel time meant that many of the troops and supplies destined for Jerusalem would not make it in time to aid those already fighting.
The boyers sent scouts into the mountains to try find a safe route, but only one returned- a young boy, with word from a striga that a single mountain pass remained open due to the intervention of a female warrior, clad in the finest of red and black armour.
Trivia
<ul type="square"> [*]The pictures were taken place on the Grandville Beach map in Mission Architect. I didn't realise the map had a day/ night cycle until that point.
[*]Herricane was modeled by my Grav/ Ice Dominator, Geneva. She actually has an Arachnos War Mace under there.[/list]

Difficult act to follow? My God girl... not only did you follow it up and met any expectations, but you exceeded them. Holy frak... I dunno where to start on my thoughts on this, so I'll just type them out as I think of them. One, you understood the basic core of Herri pretty good. Even though she's a sensual party girl at heart and does whatever she feels like doing, that and basically Superman's abilities is a pretty scary combo ain't it?, she's a good kid at heart. She won't say it, and she doesn't act like a Girl Scout cause she isn't, but she'll usually do what's right, just in a bad girl/rebel/Wolverine kinda way. Which leads into a woman of the Crusades. Herri and the Crusades are two things that most people wouldn't associate very readily, not with Herri's usual activities, but to her core yeah that's her. And Hell, I thought I tried to root Naomi pretty steeply into history, with just a little artistic license. I feel like an amateur now. Like an opening act to the main group of a concert. And just the subject of the Crusades. Anyone who knows me well enough know my favorite comic book character, the Magdalena, a mantle that has been passed down through the ages to women who are literal descendants of Mary Magdalene. The Magdalena has always fought for her God, not always the Church, so its eerier yet cool that you picked the Crusades as the backdrop.
Other musings: kinda trippy to see Herri fully clothed. Makes sense in the time and the place, but she's usually known for some kinda skin being shown. heh But heck, she's freakin omnious in that full knight suit. Gives a feeling of the Black Knight from Monty Python, while a female spin on it. Couldn't have done better myself.
Oh. I shoulda included similar added trivia like points about Naomi that you did for Herri.
Boothill Cemetary is Potter's Field in Sharkhead Isle.
I also used one of my existing chars to create Naomi's Old West look, Jane Badone, a thugs/dark MM. Although the costume was completely unique for Naomi, only part I kept was the revolvers. -
sounds like a plan for me. just note me in dA or Pm here or what not whenever and I'll send ya the link to the inked file.

I think it will have become obvious looking at the last few pictures Ive submitted on DA, I have been working on my coloring skills.
My Latest Adventure in color! This took a little while. but im pretty proud of it, really working on my color matching, saturation and temperature to turn the figure.
Just a side thought, does anyone know of a place where i can find line art to practice on? i know there are ton's of artist's on DA but most of them only have a small file size. I'd love to find some bigger stuff to work on. preferably nice clean professional inks.
[/ QUOTE ]
Russ Platt has always been willing to have people color his work, and will send hi-rez inks on request.
Of course, his stuff tends to be NSFW, so... *cough* Yeah.

D'OH! I shoulda thought of that! Thank you for the reminder Soul! most of his stuff does tend to be NSFW, but I do have a piece that is SFW and I haven't gotten it colored yet: Hericane by rplatt. If you wanna try it out I have the large HR inked file he sent me. Just holler -
holy gibblets....
that's freakin amazing, and then seeing their red Sonja....
another to watch, anotehr to add to an unending wish I could commission artist list lol -
it's pretty wicked to watch Nei livestream when she colors. Just to see the process as a comic reader
