I have established the Infinity Events Guild at guildportal.com for the purpose of organizing the Infinity Awards Event, and other Infinity Events. Come by and apply if you'd like to serve on the planning committee!

Quote:This is one the finest bowls of word salad I have ever seen! At the same time both utterly sensible and completely opaque. I salute you!So in order to establish the governing body, shouldn't we first schedule a meeting that will decide when the selection committee will get together and plan out the direction of the organization of the selection process, including such things as who will be in on the organization of the next meeting and the availability of the people so chosen to nominate a team to select the members of the governing body?
The governing body will be determined by who decides to give their time to the effort. A separate, private thread will be created for the purpose of establishing categories and criteria for the awards, isolated from the depredations of a public thread. Each member thus self-selected will have access to the deliberations at a time of thier own choosing, and consensus shall be achieved by general acclamation. Once Categories and Criteria for Awards has been thus established, these will be published on this thread for the review of the Community during a comment period. If it is so determined by the Committee, revisions shall be made, and these published likewise. Thereafter, nominations shall be accepted from the Community for the various categories, discussed and voted upon by the Committee, and the results announced at the Event presently sceduled for March 7 (In concordance with the Academy Awards), with Prizes awarded thereafter.
And If Slax throws his hat in the ring, he's got my vote too! Go Slax! -
That's just wonderful Deacon. I'm sure that I can count on you and your in-game friends for your support and assistance as I continue to try to organize interesting and fun Events for the Infinity Server community. Thanks!

Metrics for measurement are one of the items that would have to be considered by committee, once it has been formed. I'm sure that someone who has led a 20-minute ITf or a +4 x8 MoSTF would certainly merit consideration in a "Best Leader" category, but someone who is endlessly helpful in mentoring noobs is also displaying good leadership, and good citizenship.
-
While I'm sure a thread about Slax's leadership (much respect to Slax) would be very entertaining, I'd like to keep this thread "on topic" please...
-
First thing we have to do is establish a governing body, which will then establish the categories and criteria for winning them. the committee should be large and diverse enough so as not to preclude any member of it from being disqualified from competition, though i would imagine voting for yourself in any particular category would have to be forbidden.

Immaterial. THIS thread is about the Infinity Awards.

The idea was presented to me today that we should have an Infinity Awards Event, a black tie Event in Pocket D to celebrate all the things that make the Infinity Server the BEST Server in CoX. The plan was floated for a New Year's Eve launch, but upon discussion, we realized that to make it a worthwhile Event, it would require a great deal of planning and preparation.
First, we need to establish a committee to consider what categories we would award prizes for. I'm soliciting to volunteers to help me with this, so that a wide range of views will be represented. Then we need to get nominations for the categories, and choose winners. Finally, we need to determine prizes to award. The most original idea for this was to award pre-paid subscription cards and Gold Temp Titles. Much cooler than the influence prizes normally awarded.
Ideas for awards included Best Character Concept, Best SG/VG, Best Base (though we already have a Base Tour Contest in planning), Best Costume Design (though we already have frequent CCs on in Infin), Best Recurring Event, Best Role Model, Best Role Player, Best TF Leadr, and Best PvPer. I welcome any and all ideas for Award Categories, but the final Award Tally will probably only be 10, as the subscription cards cost real world $.
Please get back to me if you are interested in serving on the Infinity Awards Planning Committee. We're going to need a lot of help to make this an Event worthy of the concept. Done right, it could be a great Annual Event! -
Infinity is now the #2 server in realworldhero.com donations, behind only Virtue! GREAT WORK PEOPLE! We have 10 more days to claim the #1 spot! Go to realworldhero.com and do what you can TODAY!
-
Clearly, I need to keep abreast of the Forums outside of the AE Anonymous thread. I stumbled onto the contest entirely by accident. It was, however, a fortuitous accident, as Mr Wentworth was also in attendence, and together with the help of HeadCutter and the Infinity Community, we helped to push donations to realworldhero.com over $8K tonight, passing WoW for most charitable MMO RPG!
-
and in other news, the geek culture website popculturezoo.com has picked up the realworldhero.com cause, and posted banner ads on it's site. go check out the site for all things related to sci-fi and fantasy books, movies, comics, and games! we're going viral people!!!

OK, LISTEN UP PLEASE, BECAUSE THIS IS IMPORTANT REAL WORLD STUFF!
If you read the MotD on AEA at all, you know by now about realworldhero.com. You know that the Infinity Server is #3 in donations, behind the Virtue and Victory Servers. I want nothing more for Christmas than to see Infinity finish in the #1 spot. I want to prove to the CoH Community the Infinity is the Best of the Best ! You may also be aware that our usual AEA Sunday Rikti Ship Raid will be followed by a Vanguard-themed Costume Contest hosted by AHH A MONSTER (redside) and myself (blueside). So go to realworldhero.com and give whatever you can, and come out Sunday to stomp on the Rikti wearing your best Vanguard finery.
Thank You.

Next Sunday, 12/13, we will be rolling into the RWZ for our usual Rikti Smackdown at 8 PM EST, to be followed by another AEA Vanguard-themed Costume Contest, hosted Redside by AHH A MONSTER and Blueside by yours truly. Prizes will be 50-25-10 million influence per side. Come on out and flash all your hard-earned Vanguard bling!

Well, my first attempt at a Hami Raid went THUD, and I blame no one but me. I've never been on a failed Hami raid before, and mistook it for a simple Event. It seemed we were short on tanks and trolls rolling in, and Hami brushed us off like flies. Live and learn. I hope that someone will organize another soon, but as for me, I will be heading back to the RWZ next Sunday for a fresh shot of self-confidence beating on a familiar foe. Thanks to everyone who came out for the support, and I apologize for letting you down.

The Rikti woke up this morning after an uneasy rest, wondering why Sunday came and went without the usual smackdown. Meanwhile, my first attempt at a Hami Raid went THUD. Analysis indicates we were short of tanks and trolls to hold the yellows and greens, and of course suffered from inexperienced and over-zealous leadership (that'd be me!) Lesson learned: Hami does not go down easy. We will try it again sometime soon, but next Sunday I'm heading back to the RWZ to get a fresh shot of self-confidence beating on a more familair foe.
Honestly, I missed all my Evil brethren, and wish they would make Hami an co-op event. -
we have leaders for Blast One and Scrap One, and i'm gonna run the Hami taunt team, so we still need volunteers for Blast Two, a Yellow Mito Taunt team, and Hold Trolls. A second Scrap team would be nice too, but i suspect that we can arrange that ad hoc. Get in touch if you want to be in on the Hami. No experience necessary.
-
so far, we have cephalopod signed up to run Blaster One, and HeadCutter to run Scrapper One. We still need Blast Two, Scrap Two, a mito Tank team, and Hold Trolls. Help me out here AEA. let's make this the best Hami Raid EVER!!!!
-
Thanks, 'Blade. You sure maybe your SG wouldn't like to hit Hami one week instead of a tf?
-
i'm looking at organizing a Hami raid for next Sunday night, in the slot usually occupied by the Sunday Rikti Ship raid. I expect a lot of AEA personnel to attend, and i'm looking for Infin Hami folk to join us, and help out with leadership. any takers?
