  1. Thought i'd just post this too, altho it's not CoH related... tis quite cool tho i think

It's a character i'm designing in Daz4 at the moment, she's called Effy and she a tough, dysopian, near future, cyber chick, surviving on her luck and her wits. This is only the first render so it's still very flat, there's no lighting, pose, expression or anything... or hair! Lol, still need to decide on her hair yet, but i was thinking it will be a short urchin cut in a bright neon colour... possibly.

Once she's alive i'm hoping to feature her in a series of pictures to tell her story. Should be quite a project

So what dyou think? like her? change anything?

    cheers for looking
  2. Thanks for the comments guys, got another one here, of a certain magical miss... enjoy (fullsize on DA page)

Really enjoying doing these, and i've got a great idea for the next one, watch this space
  3. Hey, this is so cool, lol! Hope you don't mind Saph

  4. No worries Saph, hope you like it. Just had you dancing 'staying alive', looked really cool. I'll see if there's a way to post it...

I'm going to just be choosing people at random to render so keep an eye out folks.... it could be YOU!

And thanks Night Hornet, i feel i'm getting a handle on applying the lighting correctly now which makes a massive difference to the finished render. On the Saph one there, i have an orange spotlight at close range at our bottom left, and a cool blue distant light, mid level on our right, makes a good contrast i think. All good fun
  5. Kind of getting the hang of Daz Studio 4 now, so thought i'd see if i could start doing some renders of the good people of the City of Heroes forum.

First one i've tried is Sapphic Neko, our resident catgirl, curled up in front of the fire, can't be bad... or could she

  6. Annnnnd rest...

Hi all, bit of a different direction for me for this next one of Nuclear Zero. I've spent the last week intensively trying to teach myself all about the mysteries of 3d art and rendering wotnots (well, they were mysteries to me, lol) and after nearly going mental and throwing myself off a very tall building, i'm actually managing to produce some results now! yay

Character morphed from Genisis base and rendered in Daz Studio 4.
Effects, background and CoH recognisable details digitally painted and added with GIMP 2.6.

    Cheers for looking, H.

I'd disagree NH. After we chatted i actually decided to look into 3d rendering as i had no clue what it was all about. Managed to find a free dl of Daz Studio 4 and some free content packs and set to work. Now, i do consider myself an artist, but i tell you mate, i can't produce anything like the standard of these pieces you're creating, as i said on your DA page, the Night Hornet one (also posted at the top of your collection here) is outstanding! The scene tells a story, there's atmosphere, it's brilliantly designed and rendered, it's art buddy Keep it up i say, both the art pieces and the comic are brilliant imo
  8. I've got to take my hat off to you NH, these pieces are really good, and the stuff i saw in your DA gallery, you're a talent mate!

I'd love to know what software you use, is it more geared towards 3d modeling (something i have absolutely no clue about, /meak lol )? PM me if you'd rather... erm... PM
  9. Cheers for the comments guys, always appreciate hearing how you see my arty attempts

Yep Caem, you're not far from the truth there, the character is kind of based on a pastiche of a handful of non powered heroes, namely Moonknight/Batman/Hawkeye and even the Darkness to a certain extent, in that his dark powers aren't an ability of his, but more a seperate dark entity that lives within him... that was the idea anyway, heh

  11. Hey, new piece just finished of my latest character, Darkpoint, Archery/Dark Corruptor. Struggled on lots of this, especially forshortening the arm and doing the hands, still, it's all practice. Also full body picture, damn it's a lot of work, lol.

Anyway, hope you like, as always fullsize piece is on my DA site, click sig. Cheers H.

  12. That looks fantastic DeeDee!! The detail is amazing, can really make the individual rings out. Nice work
  13. Woohoo!! Thanks LimeD this is great news! i've answered your PM, can't wait to see how this turns out.

Dyou have a DA page or anything Night Hornet, your stuff is amazing. I can really take inspiration from stuff i like. I'd love to see more you've done.
  15. Being a Hero in paragon isn't all about sticking spikes in bad guys! You gotta connect with the people too...

K, here we go, about 2.5hrs it took in the end. What was most suprising to me as i was doing it, was it does actually look like me!

I know, I know, it's a self portrait, it's supposed to look like me, just didn't think it would... ho hum.

oh what the heck, going to give a portrait a go until the servers are back up. Standby for something unpredictable, lol...
  18. Well, how very kind LimeD.

I will submit Robot H3 NRi as metal is so satisfying to paint... no, it is... no really, it is... okaaay.

    metal fingers crossed
  19. Brilliant!! Don't beat yourself up, that's definately fanart. I see myself as an artist, i can't do that tho!

Hmm, moving back to the UK in a few months... will need pullovers...
  20. Did this for the November art jam and have already posted it there, but thought i'd add it here too, to keep everything together

This is a portrait, kind of, of Robot H3 NRi

Mostly was trying to improve my metal techniques here...

Anyway, hope you like it, cheers H

  22. Thanks for the comments guys, and since you mentioned it Chris, i see you're only half right about the sun glare on the eyes, whereas i'm fully wrong, lol! If you draw a line from the sun glare on the helmet through the sun glare on the visor and down her face it shows the lighting line is just to the (our) right of her nose. As eyes are convex i should have done both glares on the opposite sides, Doh!

And yeah, lower lashes, knew there was something missing

I'll probably not repost the same pic updated here, but will amend in DA, cheers again, life is a lesson
  23. Then happy 27th again Neko, if i'm going to be late, may as well be really late

    Arts for the X

this is beautifully done, shame about the modding. Love the lighting on it, like a photoshoot, great stuff
