    DM/SR build help

Couple goals I'm going for on this build. Soft capped defenses (which I did and then some in case I get what minimal debuffing I might), enough global recharge for perma hasten and MG -> Sm -> SL -> Sm, no endurance issues, and AV soloability.

I initially went with FM/SD, but I found I wanted a heal of sorts and went with DM. I plan on getting the spiritual alpha and the barrier destiny for max resists. I know some swear by gloom, but I wanted to have no worries with endurance (if this is redundant please say so and I'll try it both ways). I *think* I have enough recharge but I'm always open to ideas on how to get more. Touch of Fear is just for fun and the tohit debuff is pretty good.

    Tear my ideas up!

  2. What is good DDR? I have 52% all the time and 70% about half the time. In order to get this I have to use Grant Cover which is an extra toggle, so I'm not sure how that will affect my endurance.
  3. Do you recommend Aid Self? Lack of self heal is one of the holes I'm worried about. I'm getting my miracle today, so I'm not sure if there will be a hole in recovery or not.
  4. So I wanted to solo Maria Jenkins arc and I know I could do it easier with other ATs/builds but I've never had a strong melee character.

I was hoping to get some advice on the best attack chain for FM and some ideas for my build. I am already softcapped to melee, range, and AoE and I'm working on accolades to increase my health/end.

I was considering the -regen proc in interferance and wondering if soul mastery would be better than pyre (gloom DoT +tohit debuff).

I'm a pretty veteran player, but new to soloing AVs.

    Thanks!

    Heroid,

Once or twice that happened back when the arena first came out. It was completely a bug (we were supposed to be in the arena but zoned into a villain mission), but man it was *AWESOME*.

We're about to have a Quake: TF bromance on the CoH forums. Ah, the good 'ole days.

    Success [KIR]

I'm trying to figure out *why* anyone would want to run it beyond doing it because you've never done it before. The drop at the end is the same as BAF or Lambda, but requires a much bigger time sink/risk. It's not an efficient way to get threads or a chance at a very rare.

The dev team needs to consider the risk/time:reward ratio and adjust accordingly or else BAF will be the only thing anyone ever runs.

Haha, *that* was me being facetious. I mean, c'mon it's Dax! I beat him with a defender (with no self heal) before they ruined PvP. He didn't have travel suppression!

I suppose you're talking about the video on youtube? Shad0 was talking a bunch of **** and I told him when I beat him I was going to put a video up. Same went for the Ice/EM. I recorded all of my PvP stuff. Ha, I still have screenshots lying around somewhere of Quake:TF matches from way back when.

Anyway, hello, how're you doing? I don't think I know you, but it's good to see that not everyone in this game is a PvP hater (be it here, or anywhere else).

Yes, focused fire is the way to go. Calling targets and getting rid of the highest threat in an area wins matches. Group pvp is the best. Oh and Xanatos likes men.

    Oooooh, yeah.

  12. yeah, I know what you're talking about.

it's basically the LFG tag that we can apply. instead of manually searching through everyone and cherry picking what you want, you flag yourself for... LRSF and the system groups those interested in the same thing together.
  13. yeah, I did it when it first came out. I don't think it was 4 minutes, but it was *very* quick. not very interested in it now.

I regularly PuG a 10 man ICC at least to 6/12 bosses each week without a sweat, something that was almost impossible to do in BC with Kara and Zul'Aman.
Man I TOTALLY forgot about ZA. When I cleared that I was SO elated. That instance was quite a bit of fun. Especially tanking all those drago(?) that hatched with my pally.

Unfortunately the only game people seem to think has end-game is WoW. The endgame content consisting of either the military grade organisation of Dungeon runs, orchestrated by archaically minded players who I have heard dictate precise builds required for each class in the raid. (If I wanted to get yelled at by a rude, arrogant, self obsessed person purported to be my superior I would have joined the army)

And the other option? PvP, which is so polarising I'll leave it alone.
I completely agree with you about the rude behavior during a raid, but it's because if you come to a raid you are expected to come prepared (awake, with the correct pots or inspirations, in the right build... meaning not in pvp spec, and with the right gear). A lot of the time the success or failure of a raid can depend on one person. One person can ruin it for everyone. This does create a high stress environment and it is not for everyone, but there has only been 3-4 times in all of CoH that I felt the same satisfaction as I have when beating a boss in WoW that I'd never beaten before. The Respec when it first came out was ridiculously hard, but I beat it. The Hamidon encounter in Issue 2, we beat with my SG of 29 people... very satisfactory. The first time I beat the sewer trial and the first time I beat the Eden trial.

I would put in there when I beat the LRSF but the fact that it was multiple missions really took away from the immersion IMO. I honestly think that the method used in the hollows is done really well. Complete all the zone arcs, get a nice feeling for the zone, and then you can do a challenging trial. I don't find Task Forces for the most part satisfactory at all. It's a chore to finish them, nothing more.

I would run regular 8 man mission teams if the difficulty scaled to level 50. The difficulty of an 8 man level 10 team is huge. Anyone remember running a Posi with 8 members when we were all in the level range? Exemplaring down and we have all of our slots and its not difficult. At level 50, the game isn't hard enough. As long as your tank doesn't suck, healing isn't really needed. In order to make the game harder, I have to not invite tanks or controllers.

Let's be honest, if you think the game is challenging there's something wrong. Some people don't like a challenge and that's ok, but I truly love how this game plays and giving us something to challenge us would be great. It's not about loot or feeling elite, it's about having a sense of accomplished something. Hate on WoW all you want, but it definitely provides that feeling.

I think the toss up for the miracle and numina's (in this instance) doesn't matter much. My survivability isn't the issue here. I'm *only* farming lvl 52 battle maiden warriors on x8. I'm not running out of endurance and I'm not dying. I'm looking for any way that I can up my damage output for faster farming. The possible ways are more recharge, damage, or procs. I think I've got the procs covered. Rage + Fireball + Footstomp kills all by the LTs and Haymaker, KO blow, Icicles + Proc, Chilling Emb + Proc, and Taunt + Proc take care of the rest, but I want to do it faster.

I use EA after I footstomp, so my def is softcapped (it sits at 50% after I EA) and then again if I need endurance.

Yes, this is not the optimal tank build, but as you can see I'm only using it for one thing. If I was tanking other things, I'd slot for 45% w/o EA.

The melt armor slots are filler. I mean I could slot them into rage, but for what I want to do with this tank I don't feel I need it. I'm farming level 52-53 battle maiden warriors. EA is up twice a mob. I could 5 slot my ST attacks, I guess. Just looking for some advice based on what I'm doing with this guy and how to make it faster.

EDIT: Oh and I didn't feel like going back and editing it, but Hibernate has 5 slots /w 5 Doctored Wounds in it and I took those slots from Hurdle, but couldn't add them because of stupid levels.

Oh, and about you very video, it looks seriously unreal, the way you just accept all those Sappers shooting you! Is that because of some end drain protection from DA?
    yes
  22. Ok, so I actually went back a couple pages to read what was going on and... sheesh. Look, let's get down to brass tax... (what does that saying even mean?) This whole thread is a pissing contest (I think that's right, where you say your ***** is bigger than someone else's?).

Yes, Dark Armor can tank. You can thank IOs for that. Pre-IOs Dark Armor was horrible (I don't even know if Tanks had it at that point). It was end heavy, it was almost all resistance based, and you couldn't increase your hit points. I'm sure the stigma carried over post-IOs. However, IOs managed to plug the holes that DA had and now it is very viable. Defense isn't the end-all-be-all, you get hit every now and then. Ice tanks get hit hard because they lack much resistance; same for SR and SD.

Resistance and defense are not the end-all-be-all, if you get drained of endurance then you have nothing. Stone tanks, invuln tanks, and fire tanks will all get drain dry and killed. I don't know much about Will Power but it looks like they'll get sucked dry as well. DA has end drain resist and so does Elec.

You can taunt all you want, but if you can't move because you're feared then you can't do anything. DA has fear resist and Elec doesn't. That's one benefit that DA has so far.

DA has a massive heal that recharges very quick. Elec has a big regen boost/heal. Who knows how they compare... Elec can drain endurance (which is kind of cool...) and DA can fear (and debuff acc!).

Some holes that will hopefully be made in DA because I feel like it would increase challenge in gameplay would be AVs with a higher magnitude knockdown or knockback than acrobatics + IOs could provide (meaning you'd need ID from kin) and AVs that wormhole whoever they're currently aggro'd onto far away from them (that would be EPIC).

    ...

But really? Does it matter? This is a game. Have fun. Stop arguing on the forums...

    BTW:

I saw a regen scrapper back in Issue 2 tank (singlehandedly with no buffs) the ENTIRE monster wall in the Hive. I'm not sure if that sucker still exists, but it was about 10 DE giant monsters. That was pretty neat.

Oh and Dechs, I'll sell you that 52 ribo. I can't sell it for **** on the AH. Talk to me tonight.
  23. but maaaaaan he takes out squishies reeeel noice... and when you combine that with stealing Hamidon aggro from the tank taunter...
