Basically copied from my Spyglass post, since a lot of details are the same...
Name: Vulpecula
Currently Recruiting: Sort of. We're mostly taking people from Cordilon (see below) at the moment, but once things there are set up properly we'll be more openly recruiting.
RP Level: RP encouraged but not required. /sg IC, global channel for OORP.
PvP Level: Undetermined, but likely not a group focus.
Theme/Concept: Most of us aren't particularly special. Our powers are more low-key, such as Null Sector's machine empathy and cyberspace travel, if they're even present at all. As a result, we tend to focus on more low-key crime, only dealing with larger-scale villains within our individual specializations.
Activity: We're pretty small, and our activity is kind of random due to work, school, and work and school.
Requirements for Membership: You'll need to be on our forums, and we would prefer also being in Skype. Characters must have a relatively clean legal record, as we work directly with the PPD - if they're willing to overlook your past transgressions, though, so are we. Vigilantes are allowed, to a degree, just don't go too far.
Leadership: Null Sector (Traps/DP Defender)
In-Game Contact(s): @Grey Mouse
Out-of-Game Contact(s): GreyMouse, or Skype: thexare . Skype's going to be a much faster way to get in touch with me, but I do check forum PMs when I remember.
URL: www.cordilon.net - Yes, the main page is about a minecraft server we run. Gotta get Kaz to work on a system to add pages for other games. Just set up the forum part today though.
Coalition(s): None presently, interested in appropriate in-RP coalitions - particularly if anyone's got a police-themed SG going.
Other Details: It should be noted that characters must at least have some basic RP concept, even if you don't plan to RP. -
Seems a bit... late, but since there's not a more current one...
Name: Spyglass
Currently Recruiting: Sort of. We're mostly taking people from Cordilon (see below) at the moment, but once things there are set up properly we'll be more openly recruiting.
RP Level: RP encouraged but not required. We've yet to work out the details, but /sg is likely to be in-character, and we have a global channel we'll use for non-RP.
PvP Level: Undetermined, but likely not a group focus.
Theme/Concept: Less about taking over the world, more about making a bit of money. A lot of money, actually. We specialize in infiltration, investigation, acquisition, tracking down missing persons, and so on. For money. I know, probably obvious, but I had to make sure. Character-wise, we don't really have much in the way of traditional comic book supervillains, aiming instead for a more muted aesthetic. Not really required though.
Activity: We're pretty small, and our activity is kind of random due to work, school, and work and school.
Requirements for Membership: You'll need to be on our forums, and we would prefer also being in Skype. In-character, you have to be at least pretty good at what you do, though not necessarily the best. Also, Zero has a thing about not liking kidnappers, better not to ask.
Leadership: Zero Presence (AR/Dev Blaster, Director), Roark Gale (MA/Nin Stalker, Second-in-command)
In-Game Contact(s): @Grey Mouse (ZP), @Calvina Moslin (Roark)
Out-of-Game Contact(s): GreyMouse, or Skype: thexare . Skype's going to be a much faster way to get in touch with me, but I do check forum PMs when I remember.

Coalition(s): None presently, interested in appropriate in-RP coalitions.
Other Details: We're Rogues. Villains are allowed since free players can't be Rogues, but overt villainy doesn't really fit the concept - we might have a seperate genuinely-villainous group set up later if our members express interest. Most of us have more mundane powersets - AR, Martial Arts, etc - but it's not required. Also, it should be noted that characters must at least have some basic RP concept, even if you don't plan to RP. -
Playspan works after reverting the file, but I tested in-game quickly to confirm it wasn't a coincidence, and the market still doesn't work in-game.
So it's definitely the HOSTS file, but there has to be an address other than playspan that's responsible. -
Well, that's where we run into a problem, because it's not in there.
-
Quote:Renaming it worked (temporary solution obviously). I'm guessing the site Aggelakis listed is the one I need to make sure is allowed?Do you have a customized Hosts file on your computer? I had the same symptoms and was able to resolve them by deleting some extra lines I'd added to Hosts. There was nothing remotely related to NCSoft or COH in the Hosts file, yet it still confused the Paragon Market somehow.

When I click the Shop button in-game, I get the in-game browser that's apparently supposed to show the shop, but the "page" is just blank, dark grey. Leave it alone for several minutes, still nothing. The My Account and Support buttons do work, however.
I honestly wouldn't care if I could access it outside the game, but that appears to not be an option. So, help? -
Null Sector's pretty open about things, so it's not that big a deal in my case.
I'm surprised at all the questions I got already though. Wow. -
Ah, why not. I'm in. Here you go.
Since I'm newish here, most of you probably don't know anything about the character. So here's his wiki page.
Depending on how this goes, I may set one up for Zero Presence, my soon-to-be Rogue Blaster. -
Mine's Huntsman Gares. Gares was the first name that came to mind, in all honesty - from Dagoth Gares from Morrowind. First (only? been a while) talking Dagoth you meet except for Dagoth Ur, generally polite, and manages to screw you over with his dying breath.

I dislike the invasions, since my system has some sporadic issues with the game at normal times, but at least you gave warnings for those of us like me, and brought it back for the people who enjoyed it.

And when I send tells, I have never gotten an annoyed reaction, not once
[/ QUOTE ]
Being someone who's on the other side of the equation - one frequently invited, but almost never starting a team - I'd like to emphasize this point.
Even though I'm almost never looking for a team, I don't mind getting the tells, partially because I know it's better than the alternative (blind invites without any such request), partially because if someone seems nice enough I might decide to join even if I wasn't looking, and partially because sending a message first shows some respect for the people you're looking to team with.
So, please, [u]always[u] send tells and wait for a response before sending the team invite. -
Name: Sword of Shamira
Motto:
Leaders: [u]Grey Mouse, Jukuren, Calvina Moslin[u]
Player Type: Casual PvE and some PvP.
Playing Times: Evenings, EST (me, Calvina Moslin) and CST (Jukuren). Calvina and Jukuren can play all day on weekends (except when they have work), but my two days off each week are always different.
Roleplay: While we do not actively participate, it is allowed. All of my characters (all 12 of them so far, with a few more planned. I have severe altitis) have stories, and the SG is involved in most. However, not all the members of Sword of Shamira are members in the RP version, including some of my characters, so if your character concept calls for working solo, you don't have to be a part of Sword of Shamira in-character.
Membership Levels: 1-50. Full-time SG mode preferred, but as long as you contribute to the prestige to a reasonable degree, I won't complain.
SG Colours: Blue and Gold. Should be silver and gold, but shades of grey don't work so well for silver...
Other information: We're just out to make a group of friends. No sense being the biggest group ever when you don't know half the people, right? Currently, we're saving up to upgrade from the Oversight Center to real Power and Control rooms. We have a decent 2x2 Workshop, portals to Steel Canyon and Talos Island, and an enhancement table and salvage bin - just be warned that I rather frequently go through the salvage bin as I'm working toward the invention badges, so using the vault is a better option if it's something you'll want back.
Recruiting: Yes and no. While just sending a message to me (or another leader) won't be enough to get you in, if I've seen from your forum posts that you're a good enough person, or if we've teamed with you and seen it then, you'll be let in. Additionally, I dunno about the other two, but when I'm in a pick-up group, I'm also scouting for new members. If I find someone I think would make a good addition, I'll send a message asking if they'd like to join. Also, if any of our members spam in Broadcast about the group, or if they send blind SG invites, inform me.
Requirements:
- Activity/Prestige: Activity requirements aren't set in stone, they vary from person to person as we're all in different situations. Some of us work full time (like me), some are still in school, and some are in school and work part time. So, it's unfair to apply the same standards to everyone. Explain your situation to me when you join and I'll work with you.
- Uniform: We do have a loose "uniform" requirement; two of blue, gold, and any color in the black/grey/white range, with a cape and Brooch 39 (crescent moon). This is not needed until level 30, and does not have to be your main costume. When running in SG mode, you do NOT need to change your outfit colors.
Coalitions: We currently have a coalition with Shadow Ravenwolf's SG, The Wolf Pack Elite, and Jukuren's SG, Kotei no Gun. If you would like a coalition, chat with me about it and we'll see what we can work out. I'm not on a whole lot due to work, but if we work it out in offline messages I can have Jukuren actually make the coalition. -

There is yet to be a filter created that is not easily circumvented by a spammer. Let's say you edited out 'www', people would just type 'w w w' or some other permutation.
[/ QUOTE ]
That'd be why I mentioned not giving the sender of the message any indication that it had been blocked.
There's probably other flaws with that idea, though. I shouldn't suggest things on three hours of sleep. -
Would it be possible to filter out messages that contain the URLs from these spammers? Filtering out all URLs would, of course, be a big problem for SGs and other legitimate uses, but if there was a way to block messages that contained known RMT site links - most importantly, without letting the spammer know the message was blocked - it'd help out quite a bit.

I'll make it a point to stay closer to base portals and monorails on invasion days. Or maybe to just play Dynasty Warriors instead on those days.
Having a few Rikti spawn right next to you, then being lagged to hell because DSL's the best connection I can get in this area, and then dying before I can do anything about it is not my idea of fun... but not all of us are doomed to absolutely terrible internet connections, so I suppose I should take my complaints to the local ISPs. That oughta go over real well.
