When I re-rolled my Corruptor yesterday, he had green skin, too. Seems to like those ugly, leering faces to start out with as well. Heh.

This happens pretty much every issue. There aren't any game breaking bugs or issues from what you all are posting, and the game has worked just fine for me. They could wait until each and every bug was ironed out, but then it would take even longer for the updates to come.
Basically, they get it out the door without game breaking bugs (and as few other bugs as possible), and then hash out the minor ones in the next few weeks (every issue is followed by a few weeks with updates fixing things). I'd rather have I17 now than wait a couple of weeks for minor bug things, personally. It's a good call.
And keep in mind this is coming from someone that does find bugs irritating. I want them to fix the last map of the LGTF already... that's been wonky for years (and it shows up in more than just the LGTF). -
Quote:Ah, good to know. I figured there was something weird with that. Pets are always annoying to figure out in that regard. You're still rooted. There is no activation time because when you click HoB, you're actually granting yourself a no-activation-time defense buff and summoning a pseudopet at the same time, basically, sort of, and the real numbers don't show that properly (not sure if it even CAN).

It was and is. I don't really count minor tweaks needed as not being fine, otherwise I wouldn't play Fiery Aura, heh. Executioner's Shot was just a little slow and HoB was a little damage light. Of the two, HoB was the most off, so it was a good choice to fix.
Anyone know why this change is NOT in the overall patch notes? There was a lot of angst about the status of Dual Pistols, so I'm surprised they didn't note this in there. Same thing for the merits you earn for the exploration accolades. They obviously need to note the big stuff, but little things like this are worth noting as well.
As it is, I am still really surprised at the defense buff during the nuke. Doesn't seem like it was needed at all, especially with a damage buff. Seemed like people were dying during using it from bad tactics, not from how the power was setup. But cool, I'll take it.
What's up with that 0 second activation time? Are you no longer rooted during this? The damage is still over 3.5 seconds, but the activation time seems odd. -
Negatory. There is a reason the first one looks like you (you'll know after you play the arc), and my second double did look like an evil version of Grey Pilgrim (if you've ever seen Grey Pilgrim, same type of outfit, only in dark, sinister grays, rather than light grays). It was quite cool.
MG's must have just been reading into his psyche... or something.
Anyway, I haven't started up the second hero arc, but I did finish the first one... it's great fun, and as MG mentioned, uses some new tech that is quite interesting. Text bubbles appearing near you when an agent contacts you, a mission entered in Faultline exiting in Talos, etc. It's a fun and new experience. 5 merits overall for it, and it doesn't take too long... maybe 30 minutes without rushing, if that. -
I know, I'm such a softy. I got him most of the way through the tutorial. I just have to save Jenkins's sorry behind and I'll be good to go.
Yup, bring whatever/whoever. Don't feel like it needs to be an MM, either. I just thought I'd try to get my new lowbie villain leveled quickly, especially since he's a Corruptor (one of the ATs that don't solo as well in early levels, at least to my mind that is used to Scrappers, Blasters, Tanks, and Stalkers). -
Ohhhh, the irony. Tell you what... I don't like the costume on my guy anyway, so I'll remake him and grab Kalinda as a contact. I'll have a little time to do it today before this run, I think.

Paragon Wiki's I17 page notes that Hail of Bullets was getting buffed with I17. However, I see no such indication in the official patch notes. Was this just wishful thinking on the part of someone at the Wiki, or was it part of I17, then removed after testing?
The note on the Wiki seemed pretty drastic for how much it was increasing it. A damage buff plus defense while using the power (which is a lot like some suggestions I saw on the forums... making me wonder if this note is incorrect... since HoB never seemed to be THAT bad).
Just wondering which is correct. -
Didn't you pre-download? I don't think my computer had to download much once it started up... just had to install everything, which shouldn't take too long.
Hope you didn't have to wait too much, Viv. -
Yeah, any level is welcome, though I'm sure it will be more fun if you start out lower. It won't take us long to get to level 5, I'm sure (it's not 2XP, but I think I got my last lowbie villain to level 5 and Port Oakes range in about 30 minutes- some of that solo, some of that just teamed with Mental). So even if you join us before we get to level 5, Penny, it won't take long.
I'll probably be on from 7-9 PM Central.
MG, it's up to you... we may be able to run both contacts, since they don't take long. Probably won't miss out on much if we don't run a mission or arc or two of theirs... they only give out a few merits, I think.
How have you gotten burned by Burke? Both have pretty straightforward missions at those levels.
And cool, we have three, maybe four. Shout out if you want in for sure... I'll prioritize the people that shout out here for the team, but I'll broadcast as needed if we don't fill up here. -
I can dial things up a bit, but not too far. I should try to turn off ultra mode to see what my fps was before (never really bothered with it, as it's been quite smooth for a long time). I got mine to about 30 fps by adjusting things about, but that still felt a bit choppy from time to time in Faultline.
Water looked great there, and the shadows I saw in the Wentworth's before that were great... the skylight cast very realistic shadows on the floor and really added something. So I'll have to find a balancing point for performance but leaving some of the bells and whistles going. Though the change isn't too dramatic... nothing else looked all that different texture-wise, etc.
I started up the new missions heroside, and it was quite fun. You actually have text bubbles from a contact radioing you inside of a mission, and some dialogue choices (just two, but it does feel more varied than yes and no, at least, and adds to the fun).
I'll have to get a handle on the new auction window. I was quite used to the old one, so I'll probably like the new one once I get used to it. -
Can always turn your volume down or edit the sounds for demon summoning. There are guides about.
The more the merrier! This is happening tomorrow night, so shout out if you're interested! -
Pfft. If I were able to log in tonight, I'm sure I would see a 50 running around. People are that silly about their leveling, that's for sure.
-
Think the bomb credit is towards the top in the Accomplishment category, Voo. I saw the counter for it when checking some badges on Grey Pilgrim last night. Either that, or it's the Achievement category... I always get those two mixed up.
-
Sorry I missed out. Hopefully I'll be able to fit the next in with my schedule. Wrapped up on an LGTF when you guys were starting, and then I needed to log out for awhile.

Quote:Fiery Aura can pair with Fiery Melee, though... and get 20 seconds on its damage... which no other set can do with the power. Which is my point of contention.a.) because it's a fire set, and b.) because you can pair it with Build Up.
Quote:Because it does damage. It's on par with Dark Consumption, another foe-based end-recovery power that does damage.
For other sets, Energy Absorption recharges in 60 seconds AND increases defense. It does recover less endurance and costs endurance, but again, higher recharge on an end recovery tool is more helpful. Power Sink recovers more endurance than Consume and recharges in 60 seconds as well.
Starting to see the discrepancy? I do. Fine if you like it that way, but it seems off to me.
Quote:Burn is a bit of an oddball power. Always has been, always will be. There is really no way to compare it to anything else in the game.
Quote:My only gripes with the set are the lack of immobilization and KB protection. Yes it's easier to mitigate with IOs now than it was previously, but it's still a PITA. Of course being one of the original sets means it's not nearly as fancy as some of the newer sets and lacks a lot of exotic resistances. -
Well, I see the benefit to grabbing both, but I have a Fire/Fire Tanker. I have little luck in convincing other Tanks to take both, especially if they are Fire/any primary but Fire. And I can understand that, to some extent. Builds are tight, and if you're going to fit in one, Build Up is usually the better choice for the above stated reasons.
It may be that we are approaching it from a Tank methodology and a Scrapper. Or playstyle. I like using them alternately (as I usually do for Aim and Build up with my Blasters) to stretch out the time of buffed damage, myself.
My main point was that Fiery Embrace is not as beneficial to other sets than Fiery Melee, and that doesn't really make sense for the game. I have seen people be confused by the difference, and annoyed. It also discourages a non Fire/Fire build, to some extent. The offense you're trading off for Fiery Aura doesn't translate as well to other offensive sets. -
Quote:Fiery can mean a lot of things. Pigeonholing it into only being fire damage is a bit limited just from the language (your anger fires up, increasing your damage for twenty seconds, your fiery nature allows you to buff your damage for twenty seconds, etc.). But from a pure design and balance standpoint, any set that is not Fiery Melee is best served in getting Build Up rather than Fiery Embrace because of that limitation. Even with Fiery Melee, there is a decent argument to saying take Build up instead because of its lower recharge and +to hit.Because it's specifically fiery embrace. If I recall correctly, it used to only boost fire damage.
Your other points are entirely valid, of course.
That's even without comparing it to another offensive set, Shields. AAO buffs everything with mobs in range. It just doesn't make sense for Fiery Embrace to have this design methodology behind it that makes it work as it does. Making it twenty seconds to all makes a lot more sense, and a lot less confusing. You're the first poster I've found that isn't confused by the "20 for fire, 10 for everything else" discrepancy. It just reeks of how hodgepodge some of the powers were at the beginning of the game, and this is a holdover from that time. Newer sets like Willpower and Shields don't have powers like this for a reason... they were designed well with the game in mind from the ground up. -
Hey, Castle! Take another look at odd things in Fiery Aura while you're at it! Like why does Fiery Embrace only last 20 seconds for Fire damage? Why doesn't it buff all damage for the 20 seconds and not give non-fire attacks as good of a bonus (making it build-up without the +to hit and double the recharge)?
Why does Consume have to be on a much longer recharge than other end recovery tools?
Why is Burn still where it sits compared to the more solid and reliable performance of Shield Charge and Lightning Rod?
I love Fiery Aura and think it's a great set, but those little things still don't make sense to me when you compare it to other sets. -

Quote:Why does a lack of radio missions mean they don't feel a need to fill in a content gap? I would agree with that statement if it was just one story arc per level range (1-5, 5-10, etc.) like the Kheldians or VEATs, but radio missions are just a potential layering of missions. If anything, radio and newspaper missions were something of a copout from creating real content. But I've always been down on them. The bank and mayhem misisons are somewhat fun from time to time, but I find the repeatable missions to be utterly boring and forgettable.I'd be elated if we had 1-40 content in GR, but it isn't happening. The fact that they will not have radio missions means they don't feel the need to fill in a content gap.
Quote:I expect a tight storyline from 1-20, sideswitching content after that, Incarnate content for the 50 crowd, and maybe a few Praetorian TFs here and there to spice things up as far as "extra" content goes.
But who knows, you may be right. I am mostly reacting to the heavy layers of certainty and doom.
Flux, hehe. Too funny. I love how I get accused of being overly critical of the devs elsewhere on the forums, and then I get joking accusations of fanboyism here for suggesting we moderate our feelings of doom. -
I'm not sure what exploits a Shields build would be needing to get to the soft cap... it's possible to do it with just power picks and the Steadfast +defense IO, if I remember correctly. But maybe I misunderstood that comment, Sailboat.
But yes, I would definitely put Invuln over Shields. If Shields has its defense bypassed, it doesn't have a lot to fall back on for help. Invuln has good resists and Dull Pain on top of its defense. Shields is great fun, sure, but I wouldn't put it above Invuln in what it can take for damage. -
Quote:Heh, that's kind of my point. He gets better news than he was expecting and still wants to be down about it!What I don't get is why you keep expecting a different answer on this when we've known this for months and months.
What you asked is "Is going rogue just 1-20" the answer is "No, there is more." How is that not better news than we had?
Also... CoH and CoV were both 1-40 when they came out (and CoH had more options, too), not 1-50. So I'm not sure if that was ever a real expectation. I do hope there is a good amount over the 1-20 stuff, sideswitching missions, and Praetorian levels. We'll see, though.
The other big thing with all this is if they actually do follow through and put a good amount more content in (via GR and afterward). Supposedly content is going to be big this year, so I'd like to see the devs flesh out Cimerora and Praetoria well. -
Cool, so that's me and Mental running lowbie villains. Who else wants in? Bring another type of villain or add to the horde of demons!
My Cold/Storm Corruptor is all set in Mercy and ready to go for this. All the cool names like Coldfront and Stormfront were taken, so I decided to make his name a little goofy and called him "Fahrenheit Thirtytwo." He's not happy about the name, either... he wanted it to be great and dramatic and came up with Coldfront. But some two bit reporter in Port Oakes called him Fahrenheit 32... and now that's all people can remember to call him now, rather than the good one. Heh.
I'll have to write that up more wittily in the bio.
