Thanks for the kind words on this one everyone! I'm really loving how gouache handles
And Sarrate, I'd have to say that the background was my favorite part ot actualy do. It really feel together quite nicely at the end.
Well in the end though, I'm most pleased that it arrived safe and sound at it's destination... and in record time too! -
Just in case anyone here has forgotten that I exist, I bring you another painting, VAMPIRESSE!
Initially, I thought I would have some clever title for this one once it was finished, but once it was all said and done I found that the characters name was all that needed to be said. Either way, I want to thank everyone for their constructive comments on this one. Though not all of them could be accommodated, I hope that I have come to a decant smiling and happy yet content and unconscious look on her victims face. However, thanks to the wonders that is gouache paint, if it still isnt right, I can still change it. So, pending any last minute changes Hems might require, it is finally finished! Yay
Now, on to a nice elvin couple that needs finishing, a large nasty brute with a torn off arm and more spatters and gushers then you can shake an amputated limb at, and a possibly intense work of a particularly famous couple. All too come, so keep your peepers peeled! Oh, and if anyone has some spare time laying about, any old minutes that might be gathering dust in the corner or an extra hour tucked away under the bed, I could really use more time in a day
Offwards to more painting! -
First of all, Viking, I guess you just didn't get my very clever play on words. You see, I was referring to the... um... posters for Dracula vs. The Creature from the Black Lagoon (that really is a movie, you don't need to google it, just trust me... trust meeee). I know, technically a lagoon and a strait are two very different types of watery bodies but it was a lame joke...
Ya, a joke....
<_<
>_>
I swear it was... I'm not some dyslexic moron who spell check aims to ruin, I swear I'm not! ;p
Either way, I had come to realize today that in the past week of chaos that sometimes that is my life, I had forgotten to update everyone (including Hem's) on the progress of this piece. I can not believe I had actually began painting it without getting the pencils approved, but, yup, I did. I'm just praying Hem's is okay with the pencils and all now and I won't have to repaint anything
As per several suggestions, i have reworked the victims face to be a touch less happy and more unconsciously content... and keep things more traditional and all. How ever, i wouldn't be able to show the victims face in full without completely changing Vampiressse's legs of actually lifting her head from Vamp's lap... which wouldn't be as vacuously content as i would like. I think, once done, there should be enough of her face to convey what needs conveying and all.
So, HERE you'll find the completed pencils... and some paint as well
Oh, and it should be pointed out that the sky definitely will not be remaining that color... that is just the "base" for it. It should eventually end up being a dark, deep purple, not a nice happy starry night blue -
Well, no funky title for this one yet, but before it's done, I should have one.
Either way, after bouncing some radically different ideas, some silly, some graphic, some taken strait from old movie monster posters, off of Hems, THIS was eventually the pose and idea settled upon.
It's the simplest and most strait forward of them all. A nice classic vamp in the cemetery approach with a large luminous moon. This leaves me plenty of room to focus in on making the painting and inking of it more complex then it really needs to be I guess
More to come as it comes -
Oh, damn nice. I love not only the color scheme used but the style of the figure drawn. Very nice aquisition there! I envey good digital work... sooooo smooth... sooooo shiny!
-
Damn, that looks GREAT colored! It must havedriven you absolutly insain, but, wow. I could just stare at that all day trying to pick out al the characters
-
damn, TA, thats nice.. though I'm somewhat puzzled by the lack of boobies. ;p
Seriously, that boy has mad digital painting skills... I LOVE his style and it's good to see him grow a bit and do something that isn't just about sex appeal
That's a piece for your collection to be proud of! -
Thanks all! I'm glad the piece worked out (and is already the 5th most favorited piece I have on DA) despite (or because) of my experimentation... or something else entirely (it might be just because it features Invincebelle
). Still, I'm damned glad that not only is Buck pleased with it, but that it's so well received.
Now, about this meat stuff...
At first I found the idea of assaulting poultry with ham a bit... unwholesome. However, I wikied this Natalie girl and finally get what Turkey was talking about... Not only was that a baaaaaaaaaad joke, but you made me learn about someone! gahhhhhhhh!
*joins Star in pelting Turkey with tasty bits of dead pig carcass*
PS, TL, contrary to popular opinion, turkeys do not have a light side and a dark side... they however do have light meats and dark meats ;p -
Well, there's THIS little corner of the coh web site which is where I usually go when I need a quick reference for the baddies (and used for the cot).
I don't have any actual categorized screenies of the CoT (hopefully some screen shot nut out there has each kind of mage labeled XD ) as I usually just log in and run around looking when I need details of a specific kind of fella. However, I'll try to get some screenies for him if there's not any posted by tonight. -
wow, that's something I can stare at for a good little while! Great stuff, and thanks for posting it up here... for some reason, I missed it on my DA watch
... and this is not to be missed
-
that is freakin' awesome! WOW! Not only does it have zombies (which you can never have enough of) but the style of the inking work is just beautiful!
-
At long last I finally have buckeye's piece done, featuring that poor poor hero, Invincibelle and three others y'all should recognize now
As usual, it took me a bit longer then i thought but, with all luck, it shall meet with the Buck's approval and I'll be moving on.
Likewise, as usual, i did some experimenting with medium's in this work though I'm not certain as of yet if I like the end result better then in the past or not. It's definitely more colorful then anything I've done in the past, I'll definitely give it that! In the future, i think I may be pulling in some acrylic paint or possibly some oil pastel just to see how those jive with the water color.
And now, it appears I have a lot of art to look at that i missed and a hellova lot of messages to read (I really need to stop with the art benders)
And, while I'm doing that, for your viewing pleasure, I give you...

Glad to see someone else starting at wireframe, I was starting to feel like dusty old relic from the Joe Kubert age! Looks great so far.

It's the way I was trained. I can't seem to do it any other way, especially if there;s any kind of forshortining going on. As one of my instructors once told me, your not drawing a two dimensional person, your representing a three dimensional person on a two dimensional plane. There are no edges, just contours... or something like that. Either way, without my cross contours, I'd be completely lost.
Oh, and that someone who had it just about right might just be getting a bit of a surprise for being so just about right*. Either way, as I didn't get around to putting the pencils up (weirdness in my head and all) I at least remembered to get the inked stage up. So, for your viewing pleasure, I give you
TORN: INKED
Now can you guess who those evil dirty nasty scoundrels who torment poor Invice so much are? huh? huh?
*legal notice, Graver did use the word "might" indicating that he is under no obligation to surprise anyone with anything -
That's turning out freakin' awesome!!!!!!!!
I love what you had done with the mages shoulder spine... beautiful. Man, you are gonna make this piece something stellar! -
Ouch!
OUCH!
and
OUCH!
Damn girl, I'm glad your not permanently dead from that! I have been wondering where you got off to since there hasn't been any DA updates and what not. It's damned good to hear that you're still alive and kicking it. Now, let this be a lesson to you, don't get into car wrecks, m'kay? -
When I do my sketch work, I've taken to doing them digitally. I use an old 6x8 Intuos 1 and I have 0 complaints about it. It does what it is supposed to, has enough drawing space so I'm not cramped, and, being such an old model, cost under 100.00. If I had to rank it, 10 all the way.
I have also used my roommates Graphire 3 and didin't like it nearly as much. It didn't have the tilt sensitivity and it has that smooth plate that you have to tape paper over to get it to feel right. The sensitivity of it wasn't quite as good and it didn't have all the neat shortcut buttons along the top like my much heaver Intous. -
good and solid. Great anatomy and colors... and, oddly enough, the fonts used really rocks. What part of it did you do if you don't mind me asking?
Nice all around though. -
Hawt... as is to be expected... and that's a nice coloring job there, man!
-
Now that's a damned nice underwear add if I ever did see one. Great catch there man! Supper sweet!
-
OMG! Necrophilia! Or is Doug secretly the reanimator amassing his army of 3D zombies?! gah!!!!!
*runs screaming* -

Just wanted to add that I'm also incredibly behind on this...Been out of the country for RL stuff.
I have some basic sketches...but nothing major yet.
Thanks for your patience.

Does a happy dace 'cause he's not the only one hopelessly behind (and omg, he forgot about it even) on this project*
-
Great work there. she's starting to get a bit of a collection now
-
One of my favorite pieces you've done so far... love the color scheme and that city scape... man, I really love the backgrounds you put together... always a treat!
-
Alright, at long last, I have finished my half of a piece for good ol' BillZ (well, assuming it passes his final inspection... if not, well, then there will be an update
). He needed me to do the line work for a piece featuring his name sake and Lilutu sharing a tender heart wrenching moment. So, I give you:
THE DANCE
Presumably, DaosX will be the one to add the color to this one... 'least last I heard. I hope that will be the case (I'm all a twitter to see how it gets colored in!) but whom ever gets it next, good luck trying to color in my mad scribblings -
Well, the pile 'o bodies were more visible in the update prior to this one... if you squint really hard, you just might be able to make them out. I lightened up the rough line work on this stage so i could concentrate more on the polished lines, but don't worry, the dead shall be far more visible with my next update. First, though, i gotta add in that cigar. How, oh, how could I have forgotten that?!
