Honestly, the redraw is prbably the same, but it doesnt bother me, persnoally. It's a really fun combo, and does a little bit of everything.

No I haven't purchase anything else in some time. Though I did hear that i could be that I'm overseas and some kind of security thing. I really don't know. I emailed support. The ticket is a good call, think I'll drop one of those as well. Thanks
-
I'd second this. One of my most fun toons has been my DP/Traps. Now that I've ran some of the Incarnate stuff with him, I remember why he was a fave.
-
I'll start by saying, I'm not totally sure this is the right place for this post. If it isn't, I can repost where it belongs. I've just returned to the game about 3 days ago, following almost a year away. I've been trying to buy the Animal Pack, but I keep getting an error after confirming the purchase telling me to try back again later. Anyone else having this issue or is it a known problem? Thanks for any help

Quote:LoL... trust me Baron, Singapore and all she has to offer is being enjoyed, or as much as my bank account can stand. Other than the insane humidity, I love it here. I'm just frequenting the forums during "down time" between the city and work. Not to derail the thread but... Dude! If you're only going to be in Singapore for a few days, enjoy it while you're can. All this CoH stuff can wait a bit. It's a wonderful little city-state, I almost considered living there but the cost of living is just too high.
Quote:Well, it depends on how tough you want to be. Remember, you are STILL a tank. You just happen to also do scrapper-style damage.
Here's the actual live build I play on my fire tank:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...87#post3628087
It is very VERY durable, and still does...a lot of damage. And this is a 'durable' fire tank build, not a damage heavy one.
Quote:Thank you for your service.
Another option is a Fortunata. They have a good mix of control, buff, and damage. The Psy damage is a little light on the robots, but it helps a great deal if you're going for the badges in the Marauder fight.
With Tactical Training: Maneuvers and Leadership Maneuvers, combined with Mind Link, you can add a lot of defense to your team, helping them get over the "Incarnate softcap." Plus, you'll have plenty of places to stick the Luck of the Gambler 7.5s. -
Quote:Thanks!See the guide in my sig if interested. Illusion/Cold and Illusion/Storm are almost as good and play quite differently. And I, too, would like to welcome you back and thank you for your service!
Thanks!
Quote:I don't understand why people keep saying this.
The Devs have made their intentions perfectly clear: The Incarnate system is the same as becoming a virtual level 60.
Of COURSE we're going to be OMG awesome.
THAT's THE POINT.
As for the OP, may I recommend the old classic, the fire/fire tanker? You will not be disappointed, I assure you. -
Quote:Hey Local Man, I've actually read a lot of your posts. I do in fact have a LvL 50 Ill/Rad named Phantazmo. He was the quickest to 50 and one of the most fun toons I've played. He's not maxed out or anything, but he's is fun to play. Not long before I left for the desert, I "tanked" a STF with PA because our SD/BA tanker was getting one shotted by LR. Took several tries, and a lot of help from a Kin, but I pulled it off. I read somewhere that Ill/Rad was struggling with the Incarnate content....You could always consider my favorite character of all . . . an Illusion/Rad Controller. It is popular for good reason. Works great solo or on teams. Always welcome on any team. Easy to play moderately well, but a challenge to play "very well." Handles old and new content very well (except for one part of the BAF, but you can get past that pretty easily).
See the guide in my sig if interested. Illusion/Cold and Illusion/Storm are almost as good and play quite differently. And I, too, would like to welcome you back and thank you for your service! -
Quote:Yeah I got that impression, though I saw some players accomplishing some good stuff with their SS/FA toons, beyond just farming. I'm not a big farmer and I've always been a fan of DM. Probably save the SS stuff for a day when I'm feeling a little bored with my usual preferred sets. As far as the Crab goes, I've actually never rolled VEAT. At this rate, I'll have no choice but to play on a different server than I usually do, just to accomodate severe spontaneous altitis...SS/Fire is FotM(Year?Decade?Century?) especially for farming certain AE mishes.
If you've got access, everyone loves when a VEAT is around. My personal favorite is the Crab. Mine is a AoE and defensive machine. And with all my pets out (not Lore pets yet) I can crank out some decent single target damage too.
Supposedly, Widows, Forts and Banes are really good too, but really who cares? Crabs are just that awesome. -
Quote:LoL... I honestly don't know if I can get into the WS. I tried once a long time ago and felt like I had no direction. Too many options for an indecisive dude, lol. BUT since you called me out, I'll check out your guide and see if you can provide some motivation.I don't see a MFing Warshade in that list.
Heh, whatever you decide to play, best wishes. I'm sure you'll have a blast.
So everyone says. SS/Fire is EVERYWHERE on the Brute forum. That fact alone makes me want something else, lol. Of course the Fire/Ice Corr is all over that forum, so my excuse is kinda weak. :P -
Quote:If a person doesn't like the Rage crash, they could go with Claws, Kin, or DB so they get at least get roughly the same AoE of Dark if not better and having a similar lingering BU type of power. What makes Dark standout is Siphon Life and another end recovery tool. It makes /fire being a squishier set more sturdy as where none of the other sets do.
Been tossing around the idea of another brute and Dark/fire lingers there, but I just haven't made one. It would rank third at best currently.
What are considered the top 2? -
Quote:Do yourself a huge favor:
- Grab a copy of Titan Sentinel. This will allow you to grab a copy of your build directly from the game that you can then import into Mids.
- Grab a copy of Mids so you can look over your build and save it.
You can then use Mids to view the various builds that people put forth and decide how you wish to go.
I've never heard of Titan Sentinel before, and I've been using Mids for a long time. Not a pro, but I can use it well enough. This should be a handy little addition! Good info! -
Quote:It was confirmed during last nights UStream chat that currently it is WAI. Whether they change their minds and say they no longer want it to do that, who knows, but its not a bug they are aiming at squashing straight away.
That's kind of surprising, and equally intriguing... *mutters to himself... "3 more days until I'm back online, 3 more days until I'm back online...." -
Seriously, thanks for all the well wishes. Most appreciated.
Yeah, I will definitely give the Fire/Cold thing a shot. Probably gonna roll a couple others too, as I get 2 weeks off after I get home, I'll have time to play. Looking at a DM/FA Brute and maybe a Arch/TA Corr. I've been CoH Jones'n for quite a while and I've saved up a few names and concepts during what little off time I've had.
I play on Liberty and Freedom, Residentx10, so I'll keep that in mind. Thanks much! -
Wanted, you're like a Fire/Cold salesman. I feel like coughing up a down payment! After reading you post, is it safe to assume Fire/Cold Corr's get some work done trying to solo AVs? Not really worried about it as much as I want a well rounded toon that does well in the new content, but that's alot of debuff...
-
Quote:Thanks! I'm actually still on my way home. Sitting in Singapore for about a week, then back to Japan (home station). But when I get there and get some time off, it's gonna be CoH for days straight :PWelcome back.
I've been wanting to roll a fire/cold corr for a few days now, but I get the the costume screen and realize I don't have a concept yet. No concept, no costume, no toon. And I'm currently working on dinging 50 on my crab.
And I'm with ya, concept just makes things more fun. -
Quote:Yeah what little Ive read so far about the Incarnate content mentions the higher cap and I was kinda pleasantly surprised to hear it. With all the bad assery we can accomplish on our toons these days, it's nice to get some more challenging stuff to take on (Im guessing, lol)A Fire/Cold Corr might be a good choice. Really good damage, great debuffs against single targets and AoE, and the shields would help the team out a lot to reach the incarnate soft cap for Defense, which is higher than in normal content.
Good points on the Cold buffs. Pretty much everything I read about the Fire/Cold toon was it was a dps beast. -
-
Well I've been away from CoH, and most of the internet, for about 8 months now. Really looking forward to getting back into the game, and I'd like to roll a couple new toons upon my return. Seeing as I'm 2 Issues behind, I have a lot of catching up to do. I'm wondering, is there an AT that's begun to stand out in the new content, or power sets? I know everyone plays what they enjoy, I've always done the same, but I'd like to get any recommendations I can. The more reasoning behind why you have been playing your specific toon, the better. I've been reading up for the last couple days and I've seen some threads on Fire/Cold Corrs and Invul scrappers that have grabbed my attention...
-
Thanks brother in law, lol, I'll check this out! I have no doubt those longs nights in Afghanistan helped hone your Mids abilities far past my own! Appreciated!
-
Well, first time I've posted a build. I'm loving this toon so I've been putting my limited Mids ability to work. Just looking for some tweaks, all together better ideas, whatever inputs!

Hmmm.... thanks for the input Minotaur. I'll take a look at the build and check out your ideas. I have 2 builds saved for this one right now, lol, maybe I'll have 3 and can finally get something together on this one I enjoy playing again.
-
I appreciate that Claws! I'm going to give it a go. Most appreciated!
And I did know about the "puff ball" option, lol. I'm not a Mids guru, but I'm an Icon addict 8)
Thanks again. -
Awesome... some much needed education here already and I appreciate that. Here's what I have been running.
