  1. I must say, there are some mighty beards in those photos. I'm saddened that I could not be among my rugged, manly brethren, having what appeared to be one dandy time.

    Heya Gang,

a new player here. I figure I'll try and make some friends by drawing some free pictures for ya.

If you are interested, post a link to a screenie of your character, name and power and I'll do my best.

Be glad to make your acquaintance and I hope I'll see you in the game.

I'm not gonna hit you up for free art, just welcome you to both the forums and the game and hope that you find Paragon City and/or the Rogue Isles to your liking!

I would just like to say how sweet it is seeing one of my alts in that video. If you go to 0:47, there's a shot of two characters doing simultaneous Haymakers/Bone Smashers/Air superiorities. My alt, Aurorion, is the guy on the right in the black and white Justice outfit using Bone Smasher. The fight from where that shot came was a particularly nasty, long, drawn-out battle against the Rikti in front of the hospital in Steel Canyon during one of the first multi-zone invasions.

I know it's not that big of a thing in the long run, but ...

I'M IN DA VIDEO! I'M IN DA VIDEO! I'M IN DA VIDEO!

*runs around in circles waving his arms like Ruprecht the Monkey Boy*

I don't know if this has been brought up in the thread. If it has, please forgive me.

Not too long ago, either Positron or Statesman said that datamining showed that a very large portion of the total playerbase didn't even have one level 50. That means that those of us on the boards (already a minority) with multiple 50s are not indicative of the whole. If that's the case, then I completely understand why villain EATs are one of the first things to get put on a backburner in favor of other content.
  5. Damn, LH; that's a wee bit early for you folks to go applying patches, ain't it?

Out of curiosity, any particular reason why?

I can say that open beta for Exteel has not yet begun nor have the invites been sent out for it yet. We're going to post something for the public (on the website) as soon as we have some specifics to provide.

Exteel is currently under an NDA (which has nothing to do with the OB delay, btw) so please remember that is all I can say to those who were not Exteel closed beta testers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I know that, ya silly bug!

I was asking more of a rhetorical question, as I quite enjoyed closed beta and, well, who doesn't dig giant robots?

*wishes they had better giant robots here*

    Hmm ... Year 4 maybe?

    Yay Cricket(te)!

    *huggles da insect*

Now where's my giant robot SMASHy goodness? Are you folks completely redesigning Exteel before it goes into open beta here?
  10. You can change the look of your costume at any time (for a fee) by going to an Icon shop hero-side, or a Facemaker villain-side.

Hero-side, Icon is located in Steel Canyon, Independence Port, and Founders Falls. If you're low-level, the easiest one to get to is IP, via Kings Row -- the shop is a straight shot from the IP/KR exit. Just watch out for high-level baddies.

Villain-side, the Facemaker has shops in Cap Au Diable and St. Martial. low-level villains can easily get to the one in Cap.

Either way, the shop is marked on your in-game map by a circled "i" which reads "tailor" when you mouse over it.

So... What's the deal on the costumes? Are we supposed to look like ourselves? Are we supposed to BE ourselves?

Or our heroes' RP/Concept alter egos?

Quoted from one of Jester's posts about the party:

Last year everyone was asked by the CoH Staffers to show up in their Silver Age costumes. This year w00t and the CoH Staff are asking that everyone come in their secret identity!

I can't COUNT how many times its been brought up on these forums and in game how people want to have their secret identities and use them. Well here's your chance!

Devote a costume slot for the evening to a secret identity and make sure you try and make it look like your character in plain clothes (ie, keep the same face, tatoo's, etc, but put the glasses and suit jackets on).

Lets see the heroes and the villains casual sides for the night!

    [/ QUOTE ]
  12. I'll be there, although it is kinda hard to have a secret identity when you're over 7 feet tall and have glowing red eyes, talon-like claws, and a mouth full of razor-sharp teeth.

Pic of the psychotic and demented Bloodywedd, villianess extradonaire and Amateur torturer and artist whose canvas is human flesh !

Remember, that person was going in alone. You can check out both or Maruts Strat threads, as well as the Hamidon Tactical center for a lot of details on how we did things.

However a single team buffed can get in with little difficulty, because the effects are distributed.

A single person trying to soak everything for multiple rounds of attacks will get overcome due to stacking. A full team even tightly clustered will, with adequate buffs, have no troubles.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If I'm "that person" you're referring to, then you're mistaken. I didn't make this clear in my post, but I'm talking about in general when I say that you need good mez protection. Even as part of a full team with EoEs, I've been stunned through my own shields if the right buffs and the right number of buffs weren't on me. Believe me, I'm not dumb enough to think that I can charge into Hami by myself and expect to survive for any extended period of time.
  16. Make that good Mez protection.

I've been stunned and detoggled out of Unyielding+Unstoppable plus 4 breakfrees by the new Hami. Just insane mez power, it is.
  17. That too. But the EoE problem will be solved when we get that promised monster island, and the number of people available will also increase.
  18. The heroes did indeed manage to take down Jelly Boy. But it was an incredibly long process and there's probably still a missing piece of the puzzle that'll make things go more smoother.

It's quite a different story for us villains who've never had Hami until now. We're still working on strategy and tactics for our ATs and their multiple roles.

I really don't care, but I don't think it should be closed/limited to a certain amount of people.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And it won't be. The floodgates will be opened. Given, however, that it's a system that will be integrated into almost every other facet of the game, the dev team wants to do some concentrated, focused playtesting first before letting the unwashed masses have a go at it.
  20. My biggest problem with the Valentine's Day event is that it came so shortly after the the Winter event. I didn't mind fighting Snaptooth last year during Valentine's Day. When he popped up again to cause more trouble during winter, I cracked my knuckles, chuckled to myself, and thought "I guess he just didn't learn his lesson last time". But when the Jubilee started up this year, all I could think about is how I'd have to defeat him 3 times in each mission, over 5 missions, in order to get all the goodies for a single character (excluding my main, who had most from last year's event). So I ran through the whole thing with my next-highest hero and villain, and left it at that.

Conversely, there's the experience of fighting off Eochai during the last Halloween event with a then-lowbie hero, and only just recently having fought him again in Croatoa with the same hero. I liked it because there'd been enough time between the two for the experience to feel relatively fresh again. I imagine that if I had to fight him multiple times with each character I have every couple of months, I'd eventually get burned out.

My suggestion is to come up with a different villain for either the Jubilee or the Winter event. That way, we'll only see said villain once a year and there will hopefully be enough time for the experience to not be so heavily ingrained in people's minds.

My avatar is from the new Naruto: Shippuden opening. It's Naruto being all red-eyed and fangy while calling upon the power of the demon fox inside him.
