  1. Hola Senor Steel!

Would you be so kind as to please inform me where I can find you so that I may eat your heart and wear your skin in order to gain your powers and thus take over your job, you lucky S.O.B.?

    Huggles,

    Smash
  2. Psychic blasters!

    Mace/Axe brutes!

    Ancient Rome!

    Villain Epics!

    Further UI updates!

    *dies from massive win*
  3. Bachelor party, eh?

I assume there will be Carnies, yes?
  4. Did you let Pohsyb out of his box for this, or did you just slip a piece of paper with the questions on it through the food slot?

Lighthouse is only warning us of the possibility. With the server upgrade, they just don't know what it's going to be like.

Forewarned is forearmed, drop the doom.

    What he said.

And Bradders: I know you're not including Pinnacle in that whole "craphole servers" thing. So I'll let it slide.
  6. I am ... so wasted right now, dude.

    *passes out*
  7. [CaptainMurphyAsArchieBunker]

Aw, dere go my nipples again dere, Edith ...

  8. Admit it, you were visited by three ghosts the other night, weren't you?
  9. Yes, because some people have highly inflated senses of entitlement.

Personally, I really don't care about everybody getting access to both sides. I beta tested CoV, bought it when it came out, and even bought GvE because in addition to the goodies, I liked the idea of having an (at the time) updated install disk if I ever had to do a fresh install. And I'm not frazzled in the least by this decision. In fact I like it. It gives the devs even more freedom to just design and create across the board without having to worry about such-and-such percentage of the playerbase that won't be able to access half of whatever is created.

Then again, I also wouldn't be that upset if they stopped Vet Rewards, or even removed the ones already earned. So maybe it's just me. But I realize that my 15 bucks a month entitles me access to the service that they're providing, whatever that service may be.
  10. (QR)

Just to clear up something that's been irking me:

Jack isn't just "an MUO guy"; he's Creative Director for Cryptic, which means he has his hands in all the cookie jars now. Some more than others, I'm sure, but everybody has projects they're more personally committed to.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
I'm assuming this means that Marvel Online Universe and CoH will be more competetive than they otherwise would? Developed technically seperately now, but same essential niche?

    [/ QUOTE ]

You would be correct. And there really isn't any sort of technicality to it. From now on, NCSoft will be both developer and publisher for CoX, while Cryptic will develop MUO and Microsoft will be publishing it.
  12. I'm not entirely sure what to make of this just yet.

On the one hand, we have all the key developers staying aboard with the exception of Statesman (and who could blame him? CoX is just as much his baby as it is any other dev, but he's both a founding member of Cryptic Studios and holds an senior position there), promises of more development resources, what should be a much more streamlined and efficient QA process, and an assurance that it'll be business as usual as far as the game content and overall development go.

On the other hand, there's the general history of how well MMOs fare after being bought out by another company. Granted, NCSoft has been part of the picture since day one, and CoX is by no means a struggling property as is usually the case when an MMO changes ownership. But even with all that, I'm going to remain cautiously optimistic until such a time when I believe that things are going to remain just as good as they are now, if not better.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Exactly my thoughts. We know that we can have defensive powers with no power fx since Tough and Weave both have zero power fx. So devs., time to step up and either deliver on the no fx powerset we want or give us an option in the costume creator to turn power auras on/off. No excuses.

    RABBLE! RABBLE! RABBLE!

We've already been told that all the toggles and such will have activation effects, so it's possible that you're seeing some of them. Also, Rise to the Challenge is supposed to operate like Invincibility, so like Invincibility, there are probably going to be effects of some sort around your character whenever mobs are being affected by the power.

Either way, giving the devs an ultimatum - nevermind over something that is still in the closed beta stage - is incredibly childish.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
I hope this is just a taste of the combo system and the will be combos for more power sets.

    [/ QUOTE ]

From what I understand, the ability to produce combos with certain effects is the secondary effect of the set, like Dark Melee's secondary is Tohit Debuffs, Energy Melee's is Stuns, Psionic Assault's is Recharge Debuff, etc. So likely no more sets with combinations.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
cool. When do I get my open beta invite

    [/ QUOTE ]

No invites needed for open beta. That's just when they open up the test server for one and all and say "Come and get it!"
  16. First of all: Did Castle just reveal his secret identity?! Say it ain't so, man!

And second: If I heard right, Willpower has both RES and DEF to Psi, plus mez protection to both Fear AND Confuse!

Aside from that just being friggin awesome, it sorta makes the set like Bizarro-Invuln, where your mind is strong but - I'm guessing - your body is still succeptable to some things. Although, from the set descriptions people have posted, that does have me wondering a bit on what the numbers for the set will look like.

    C'mon open beta!

This is a sad day when the negatives are bannable, but a positive /Signed or /Yes is still alright.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Perhaps you should have another look at Ex's announcement, Tundara. Because as KidLazarus noted above, the announcement wasn't specifically calling out negatives and ignoring positives. Ex Libris' exact words were "Refrain from such posts as :"; the examples listed below were just that -- examples.

Also, this isn't some Gestapo-esque, outright ban. Again, to quote Ex: "Our moderation team has been placed on high alert for all forums above the "For Fun" and "Servers" sections." If you'll take a look at the main board, this would mean that - if I understand this properly - the News, Development, Player Help, Archetypes & Powers, and Player vs Player sections, along with their subfolders, fall under this "fluff-busting". City Life, Hero/Villain Culture, RP, Screenshots, Forum Games, Suggestions (really?!), and the entire Server section will remain "looser" areas of the board. Again, that's assuming Ex Libris hasn't misspoken. And that's not something she's particularly known for.

I hope it's not the 5th Column....boring, but something much more interesting.

New powersets maybe. Wasn't there a thread by one of the red names many months ago polling which powersets, from a powerset list they posted in the thread, people wanted most to see?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Dual blades and Willpower have already been announced as being included with Issue 11
  19. I've figured out what all this means:

IT MEANS THAT I11 NEEDS TO GO INTO CLOSED BETA SOON!

PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD AND JUST, I BEG OF YOU, DEVS!

... *ahem* so, uh, yeah. That's what it means.
  20. Just like everyone else who's worked on CoX and gone onto other ventures, you'll be missed but not forgotten. Nothing but the best for you in whatever comes down the road, Jesse.
  21. Could it be that the receptionist isn't a huge nerd like everyone else at Cryptic?!

    No! I refuse to believe!

(note: by now, it should be obvious that my calling the devs & NC staff "nerds" is a gesture of affection. We're ALL nerds to some degree around here, and I wear it as a badge of honor.)
  22. [ QUOTE ]

I wonder why everyone likes her. What’s the appeal? I don’t argue it, but I DO ponder it…

    [/ QUOTE ]

Because she's the fun kinda crazy. Y'know, the type where you know the line at which she'll reach for the meat cleaver.

Edit: Am I the only one kinda turned on by that pic of "Jay's girlfriend"? I have no idea why, but I guess I find what appears to be an asian chick in a Ronald McDonald outfit practicing cannibalism really sexy.

Then again, I'm a little weird.

I have only one thing to say about this thread

    [/ QUOTE ]

One of us! One of us! One of us! <,<

    [/ QUOTE ]

    well, yeah

Personally, I've been a nerd for 17 years. I know I'm 27, but I don't count the first 10 years. I allow for a little leeway early on. I mean, nobody goes up to a baby and says "What a frikkin' dork! That baby's never getting laid ..."
  24. Do you have any idea how heavy a brass, steam-powered pencil would be?

Actually, you could probably just smash the handcuffs open if you had one of those ...
  25. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Now, back to the design grind... anyone know a good way to pick a handcuff with a mechanical pencil, a Hero Clix, and a poker chip?

    [/ QUOTE ]
    1) Snap the poker chip at the person holding the keys, much like you'd snap a bottle cap. Practice with pennies, then work your way up to quarters until you're sure you can nail your target in the forehead. Bonus points if you get a great buzzing noise when the chip zips away.

    2) When the person comes over to give you a smackaround for hitting them, stab them in the eye with the pencil.

    3) Unlock and scram, leaving the Hero Clix as a jaunty calling card.

    [/ QUOTE ]

SokMunki wins the thread. Give him his reward, Posi, by mentioning something in the works. Anything. Seriously. C'mon, man ... poppa needs his fix!
