Looks interesting. Can't wait to see what some of my old forgotten characters will get when/if I ever log them back on.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, likely not anything at first. Something tells me this won't be retroactive. -
[ QUOTE ]
In addition to all of the Day Jobs, every character is "On Patrol" after they log out of the game. When players log back into Paragon City or the Rogue Isles they will gain 1 bar of double experience (when defeating enemies) for every 24 hours they are logged out. A player can earn up to 10 bars of double experience this way. Double experience is shown as a blue portion of your experience bar. One thing to note is that if a player has any experience debt, the debt will be removed first before any double experience is applied.
[/ QUOTE ]
So if one of my characters is logged out for 24 hours, when I log back in with them, it takes me half as long to fill a bubble assuming I don't have any debt. Groovy. And not quite "rested XP" either, seeing as we still have to go out and earn that double XP through playing.
I see no problem with this whatsoever. -
You missed two points, Zombie:
1) If the updated War Mace overperforms, Castle thinks it'll more likely be because of Crowd Control's max number of targets, and not because of the change to Clobber.
2) As one example of the Epic/Patron changes, Castle mentions that Weapon Mastery for Scrappers will now include Focused Accuracy. If his memory is correct. -

The search is epic fail - if it doesn't come up with a response or you spell something wrong, you get the message "You cannot make another search at this time. Please try again in a few minutes."
[/ QUOTE ]
In fairness, though, that's a fairly normal thing for forums, and is in place to reduce the server stress that might be caused by a whole bunch of people spamming searches. Not sure about ubb, but this can be changed in vBulletin to pretty much any period of time (in seconds), or disabled completely. So maybe this can be negotiated during the beta for the new forums. -
Right. Especially if whoever is in charge of the forums takes the time to include some of the better vBulletin plugins. Lots of neat features to be had.
-
[ QUOTE ]
You can make vBulletin forums look pretty cool, too
/shamelessplug
[/ QUOTE ]
Not too shabby!
And yeah, you can customize quite a bit with vBulletin. -
*Hugs warm, fuzzy, vBulletin goodness*
Edit: 3 words, Lighthouse: spoiler plugin please. -
[ QUOTE ]
so about that beta.....
[/ QUOTE ]
*thoughtfully smokes a pipe*
Hmm ... indeed. -
[ QUOTE ]
This sounds ominous:
[ QUOTE ]
To start, we rebalanced the Patron powers and the Epic powers that villains and heroes get so they're more in line with each other. We looked at what players were picking more often and changed some powers completely and pruned some powers.
[/ QUOTE ]
Patron buff or Epic nerf?
[/ QUOTE ]
Likely a little from column A, a little from column B. -
[ QUOTE ]
One question that wasn't mentioned in the interviews. Will we get more proliferation now that the MA has been bumped from this issue?
[/ QUOTE ]
No.
Castle's confirmed this, citing that the powers folks (him and two other guys) have been really busy between the MA and the rebalancing stuff. Earliest we're likely to see more proliferation is Issue 15. -
[ QUOTE ]
Issue 14 is slated for Winter 2009?? I don't know if I can wait that long....or do they mean Jan-March of 2009?
[/ QUOTE ]
1st quarter of 2009. -
Some cool bits from the interviews:
Merits:
[ QUOTE ]
Matt Miller: Players will be getting merits for doing Ouroboros flashback stuff, as well as for story arcs any story arc in the game that they complete. As for the Hamidon, yes, they have a choice between getting a Hamidon enhancement or getting the Merit reward. I don't know how many Merits that is, but I will say that all the Merit reward values are based on the datamines we did on basically how quickly players typically did these things. So it really became a 'time versus reward' mechanism. So the really fast stuff gets a small amount of rewards, whereas the really long stuff gets a larger amount of rewards.
[/ QUOTE ]
Day jobs & costumes:
[ QUOTE ]
Matt Miller: So we've had Jay working on a lot of civilian clothing for this feature. He's done a myriad of different suits, from single-breasted, double-breasted, two, three and four-button, bolo ties, normal ties, bow ties, pinstripe you know, striped suits, like many different varieties of that... sweaters, sweater vests, and then the police uniforms. We've got a ton of different police uniforms. We're even including a really cool police belt, with all the accoutrements on that. I can see a lot of players just grabbing that and putting it on their tech characters and gadget characters, just because it looks so cool.
[/ QUOTE ]
Level Pact:
[ QUOTE ]
Matt Miller: ... So we had this idea for the Leveling Pact: essentially splitting each character's XP gain directly in half and just distributing it across two characters whether they're offline or online. And we said: 'You know what? There's a system here. This is a workable system. This is really innovative, and this is taking a new step in sidekicking, making sure that you and your friend are always able to play the game together, and will always be the same level.'
[/ QUOTE ]
PvP:
[ QUOTE ]
Brian Clayton: Again, PvP is an area that we internally know that we want to improve and we want to further within City of Heroes. We have bigger and larger initiatives down the road for PvP, and this is our first big step in the right direction, to make PvP fun and viable again in CoH.
So I wouldn't say that our philosophy has changed, but with the additional bandwidth and growing the studio in the last months, we're able to tackle a few more things, whereas before we were having to be very careful about where we innovated, where we evolved our systems; and PvP has always been on the list of things we wanted to tackle. Now, we certainly have the resources to do something about it.
[/ QUOTE ]
The long run:
[ QUOTE ]
Brian Clayton: We certainly have huge plans, plans that go over the next five to ten years, for the City of Heroes franchise. So we certainly need to ramp up for that.
[/ QUOTE ] -
I gotta say, I'm not that pleased with finding out that we'll have to buy enhancers for each character build ... especially since most of my often-played characters are red-side, and the black market is insanely out of whack a lot of the time.
Here's hoping that I won't have to grind TFs for months on end just to earn enough merits to get a specific IO recipe I need. -

I was there, met Blue Steel and Back Alley Brawler, and got my VIP pass.
I entered the code into my account at PlayNC.com, but when I go to the tailor in-game I can't find the PPD Hard Suit. Is there something else I need to do to activate it?
[/ QUOTE ]
It's a (permanent) temp power, not a costume set. Look in your powers window -

We've got 8 machines that will be running CoH/CoV on the training room,

Groovy. Hope we get some new converts outta the con.
[ QUOTE ]
so feel free to log in over the next few days and say hi to all the PAX people who will be playing from here.
[/ QUOTE ]
Only to get TPed to underneath the Atlas statue and subsequently 1-shot by you in front of those same PAX attendees? Ho ho, Mr. Brawler ... I'll not fall for any of your vile dev trickery.
Seriously though, hope everything goes great for y'all. It's 4 AM here, so I'm gonna try to snag a couple hours of sleep. -

I am at your PAX, stealin' your funz!

UR DOIN IT WRONG -
(QR)
All of you who are there had better wring some juicy little tidbits outta the devs and post em here for all of us schlubs who can't be there. M'kay? -
[ QUOTE ]
probably been posted before, but i don't have the time right now to look through 20+ pages, so:
Is there going to be any way to purchase/otherwise attain the hardsuit code? Or will this be what we're getting in the Cyborg costume pack thing that was announced with i13?
Thanks
[/ QUOTE ]
What's in the cyborg pack will be a set of actual costume pieces to mix and match however you want (in addition to auras, emotes, and a power related to the costume parts). The hardsuit power is a permanent version of the temp powers we get during the Halloween event, where your entire player model is switched for a set NPC model.
As it stands, there are no plans to give players access to the special "Con-only" powers.
We now return you to your regularly-scheduled PAX discussion. -

Man where should i start??? What are the devs doing? Stalkers get yet another powerset in i13??? OMG and villians get Pain Domiantion??? Aren't they already dominating with widows in pvp??? When are the Heroes gonna get something thats really good? First thing that I think needs to happen in i13 is improving the PB and Ws,you know to make things fair and balanced remember that??? How about pistols for blasters? How about another good damage set for scrappers,Fire melee is great, and 1 more nice set wouldn't hurt.Tanks could use a new good set as well, since brutes have fury, and more powersets than tanks.Man you guys keep giving the villians stuff every issue and keep the heroes behind on the goods.I hope you guys got some more nice stuff to announce, cause right now it looks like a disappointing issue.
[/ QUOTE ]
****!!! You are really off the deep end.
Yes, stalkers got shields
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, no they didn't.
BAB posted in the shield thread in the Stalker forum to clarify this. The press release is wrong, and Stalkers will NOT be getting shields. The set was never created with Stalkers in mind; something about shields not really conceptually fitting the AT all that well. -

[ QUOTE ]
By doing just a /signed, you are saying "hey, great idea i like it" which is great to show positive sentiment towards the idea, but it's not constructive to the discussion of WHY it should be implemented.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sometimes a pencil is just a pencil and sometimes /signed is just, "hey, great idea i like it." and I have nothing more of value to add other than to show that the OP is not alne in their opinion/idea.
[/ QUOTE ]
Then instead of writing "/signed", write "hey, great idea i like it." Or maybe: "not much I can add to that; great idea!"
I'm sure the mods don't expect every post to be a seven-paragraph breakdown of pros and cons for each and every little thing. But even a little insight wouldn't hurt, even if that insight amounts to nothing more than you saying that the OP is right on the money. -

[ QUOTE ]
Anyway, got the answer I wanted to see someone finally give.
The other issue brought up that I thought was crucial:
Is Pwnz going away or are these rules going to start applying to Pwnz? Leaving an area that only thrives as a breeding ground for the activities you prohibit seems rather against the whole idea of refreshing the rule set.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually somewhere in this thread either Lighthouse or Koschej mentioned that Pwnz and forum games will be left to play so long as they don't violate rule 16. Those to forums are pretty much free to continue on their way with that one caviat.
[/ QUOTE ]
Keeping those areas as self-contained little sandboxes of ... whatever the hell they are ... also makes them easier to nuke from orbit should the need ever arise.
