Does anyone else think that Reichsman looks amusingly reminiscent of M. Bison?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hmmm ... Do I think he looks like Bison?

My thought is that I15 is going to go to beta during E3....of course, I have no proof to back that up, but it would sound like a good marketing move.

Does NCSoft/Paragon Studios have a booth at E3?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nope, no NCSoft presence at E3 this year. Kinda surprising, actually; I figured that at the least, they'd keep up their push for Aion.

According to a post by Avatea over on the Euro boards, today is supposed to be the day when the devs decide whether or not I15 is ready to push to the Training room. So maybe we'll be hearing something relatively soon.

[/ QUOTE ]And by 'soon', you seem to insinuate some time sooner than Soon but later than now?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    One can only hope.

It would be very challenging, yes, but there haven't been enough posts about obese men with their own D20s, have there? I think I've got a chance.

I'm not even 30 yet, and my hair's already starting to look like Mr. Fantastic.

I got screwed on the genetic lottery, and I'm not happy, one bit.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Consider yourself lucky. I'm 29 and will soon be a sufferer of full-on male pattern baldness thanks to my genetics. I've shaved my head for years, though, so it is only sometimes an issue.

(Interesting note: I only started to go bald after I shaved my head for the first time.)

Oh, and count me in the "intelligence is sexy" camp. Smart chicks are awesome.
  8. Well, that was short and interesting.

Zoned in on my Crab a few minutes before it began, started taking out pillboxes, spawned the AVs, but they were ignored by the villain players en lieu of the hero players. I just saw lots of orange names and battle all around, so I figured I oughta' jump in instead of standing around being an easy target for whatever. Next thing I know, Hawk cancels the event. Hooray.

(Note: I'll probably be used as a welcome mat considering I've never PvPed with my Crab, but I ain't gonna run away)

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Therein lies enlightenment.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What? Ain't like I've never PvPed before. I regularly fought in the arenas for a few months after they were released. But I started to see then that there wasn't a whole lotta thought put into the addition of PvP to the game and started to lose interest. I took part in all the zone PvP testing during the CoV beta. I've PvPed during test events. I've PvPed during server events. I PvPed some during the I13 beta. And whenever I'm in a PvP zone getting badges/Shivans/nukes, if I'm attacked, I'll return fire.

I am, however, still a casual PvPer at best. And since, if I can be there, I'll be there on a Crab Spider (which I've never tried PvPing with, which isn't built for PvP, and which is probably too much of a Jack-of-all-trades to really be effective in PvP), the reality is that I'll probably be eating dirt quite a bit. But it's not like this will be some sort of grand, eye-opening experience. PvP is PvP. Been there, done that. Don't have a problem with it; I just don't do it that often.

... Man, it's gonna suck now if I can't be there. Maybe I should take a sick day on Tuesday ...

The villains will be easy for me. I got tons of evil songs in my library.

    Two more possibilities for Synapse:

"Paradigm Shift" by Liquid Tension Experiment
    (A bit long, I know)

    "Rusted Cage" by Soundgarden
("I'm gonna break my rusted cage and run" seems like it would fit in with Synapse escaping from Crey's experimentation)

I was going to suggest "What We Need More Of Is Science" by MC Hawking for Positron, but the studio version has some foul language in it, and the edited version is kinda lame. Feel free to Youtube it, though, and if you're interested, I can e-mail a copy of the song.

Not once in my post did I make any sort of asinine complaint about PvP. A certain breed of PvPer, yes. But not PvP. Recluse's Victory is a PvP zone; you'd have to be either naive or stupid to expect to go in there and not possibly deal with PvP of some sort.

But bear with me here, Funk. What if - and this is big, so you might wanna sit down - we get a whole bunch of people together in RV for an event, an event during which they'll have a good time? And what if afterward, since they've all had a good time, some friendly mass PvP breaks out and nobody cares how many times they eat dirt because it's all awesome and fun? And what if, because of the experience being fun, they become more open to the idea of engaging in PvP more often? Wouldn't that be a good thing?

Or does ganking distracted noobs who'll likely never again step foot in a PvP zone once they've been ganked appeal to you more? If it does, well, then maybe the PvP zones in this game deserve to sit largely empty.

    [/ QUOTE ]

How do you expect anyone to take your arguement seriously when right off the bat in your first response was this little gem...

    [ QUOTE ]
I just remembered that there will probably be douchebags who'll show up for no other reason than to gank those whose guards might be down because they're too busy fighting AVs. And I play this game as an escape from the douchebags I must deal with in the real world.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What about the douchebags that step into a PVP zone and expect to be left alone because they want to collect their badges? I works both ways.

    Late Quark is late.

There was an agreement to disagree on one thing, which you'd know if you'd bothered to read the subsequent posts between Funk and I. Things be cool now. Depending on what I gotta do the next day, I might be able to come to the event with my Crab. If I am there and you're on a hero, I'll be happy to show you how much of "a QQing badger who expects to be left alone in a PvP zone" I really am.

(Note: I'll probably be used as a welcome mat considering I've never PvPed with my Crab, but I ain't gonna run away)

i'm not a part of the pvp community, those people use 3's instead of e's and all left the game a couple issues ago and the few stragglers that are left wax their e-peen's in the pwnz forum. Me? I'm just a simple bunny trying to make my way in the universe.

    [/ QUOTE ]

My humble apologies for confusing you with those scoundrels
  14. [ QUOTE ]
    I guess i'm just a big meaniehead.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, but through your responses you are starting to resemble the stereotypical PvPer that many PvEers don't like to associate with. I'd like to think you're above that and capable of at least semi-rational discussion of PvP-related things that doesn't degenerate into the usual "us vs. them" rabble.

And the only reason I even entertained the incredibly remote possibility of Hawk's event not being on the level is because of your comment that not only was he more than likely aware of the ramifications of said event, but that he liked the idea of said ramifications. I'm relieved that my slight concern was completely, totally, unfounded and baseless.

I originally came into this thread because I legitimately thought Hawk's event sounded like fun - I remember this event being fun the few times I took part in it back when folks like Taser were organizing them - and because it had potential to maybe get some folks to try PvP by first dangling the badge-carrot in front of them. It's just a shame that at least one person in the PvP community (because Lord forbid I paint you as the sole cause of the PvP dearth in this game ... wait a minute, I never did that) feels that their reputation is more important than doing things that could end up getting more people involved with PvP.

But in any event, have fun being the hero killer (Red=Dead, after all) who thinks people are insinuating things about him when they aren't, and whose matter-of-fact statements ("I PL, I farm, I exploit, I kill innocent players.") induce much laughter. No skin off my back to happily go back to the PvE game and wash my hands of this exchange.

See you in-game, where we can both hopefully retain civility and lightheartedness because, at the end of the day, none of this really matters -- I'm not this much of a smug [censored] (I know you're probably thinking that I am ); you're not some stereotypical, emotionally-retarded PvPtard; and this is a friggin' video game.

And Hawk: Sorry for the massive derail and hope your event goes well. Maybe some fresh blood will be injected into the PvP scene because of it. I'll try to pop in, but I'm in England and sometimes 2 AM on a weeknight is far less do-able than others.
  15. Maybe it's just some irreconcilable fundamental difference in personal philosophy between you and I, Funk, but I happen to think that "Wow, that event was great! Now, let's kick the [censored] outta each other!" is a sentiment that will generally encourage future PvP participation, as opposed to "Wow, this event is -- *DEATH* -- Hey, who the [censored] did that?! That sucks!".

And on the outside chance that this really is just a gankfest disguised as a PvE event: bad form, man. Bad form.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
Imagine that, people pvp;ing in a pvp zone, where do they get the nerve! Quick someone pm the devs, they mistakenly put BADGES in a pvp zone, this must obviously be wrong. Maybe they can disable pvp for a little while so the precious badges can be had with the ease they are supposed to :P

Thank you 7th. do you know what side and AT it will be under? Do you think it will be like the gunslinger in malta, or mor on the Gun Kata style people mentioned waaaay back when players first asked for it?

Demon Summoning will almost assuredly be a Mastermind primary (not that it matters much, since you'll be able to switch sides at some point). Dual Pistols will likely show up in a few different ATs, and will probably be more Malta Gunslinger than Equilibrium.
