Quote:And the 1-20 content was first announced about 2 years agoThey started planning Freedom "for reals" about a year ago according to the PAX panel. They only had occasional talks and what-ifs about it before then.
Coincidentally, GR launched...with 1-20 content........about a year ago.
Hmm.....

They were planning that back in 2009?

So do I - it's an awesome expansion of the game world, and it delivered a huge amount of new lore - it was the launch pad for first part of the Incarnate storyline, which has let the devs tell a more in depth invasion story than the 2nd Rikti invasion.

Quote:And what parts do you think were rushed? With the news of Freedom and the content we've gotten for incarnates since GR was released, I can see the reason why Praetoria felt rushed and incomplete: because it was. Resources were obviously diverted mid-project to other things and NC Soft still demanded a new box on the shelves so we got what we got.

Quote:Just so as you know in advance, level pacts are being disabled once I21 goes liveMy son and I are going to establish a couple of leveling pacts, and I'd rather wait until Freedom so I can start in tutorial and just go blue (thinking of rolling a stalker and maybe a corr).

Quote:And we get to beat up the ones who go too far - just like Heroes help Longbow, but also beat up the ones who become vigilantesAnd why your fellow "Heroic" loyalists commit blatant acts of terrorism far worse than of the loyalist arcs. You want to support the resistance, that's fine. Just don't try to pretend it makes you a "hero". Many of the resistance members display far more blood lust than your average "villain".

Quote:Well, going by the repeatable faction contacts in First Ward, so do the game mechanics - anyone flagged as Resisatnce can also access the Hero contact there, and anyone flagged as loyalist can access the Villain contact - but Resistance players can't access the Villain contact, and loyalist players can't access the Hero contact - but that could just be another one of those "bugs"And you still persist in the idiotic belief that heroes and resistance are the same thing, I see.

And as for the contacts for the "neutral" zone storyline, the 1st is a sorceress from the Carnival of Light, the 2nd is a woman whose group are allied with the Resistance, the 3rd is an ex-loyalist guy who's joined the Resistance, the 4th is a woman who's a former unwilling servant of the empire who's now working against the loyalists, especially Mother Mayhem and the Seers, the 5th is an old shaman who's friendly with the Carnival of Light, the 6th is a wizard who works with the Carnival of Light, the 7th is a crazy but rather pathetic wizard who ultimately does something very good, and the 8th is Vanessa DeVore, the guiding force behind the entire Resistance movement, whose masterplan, according to her new bio, is to get the Wardens to take over the government form the inside.
By the end of the storyline, the player has helped the Resistance strengthen its position, and stopped the in-fighting that was endangering the fight against Tyrant and his loyalists

Quote:Games based on PvP always attract more players who like being villainsCouple of points I want to address here, the first being that people prefer to play Heroes.
Some of that spills off into here as well. Now as a contrast to that point a game that is effectively GTA the MMO has been in beta for a while now with two factions. Heroes and Villains though they are called something else completely. Guess what, Villains consistently outnumber heroes frequently getting a 2 to 1 ratio.
Fore xample, in the well-known superhero IP MMO that crashed this year, the populations on the PvP servers are actually split slightly in favor of villains.
I think it'd be quite interesting to see the pre-GR split of PvPers here - I think it'd be a lot closer than the 60-40 PvE split
You'll find First Ward just as disappointing thenQuote:RWZ was a huge disappointment from a Villain perspective since it was the first new story content added to CoV since I7 and it completely ignored all story content CoV already had. It also ignored any potential motivations a CoV player might have. And what's really bad is a single contact running a faction check and having some villainous story could have gone a long way.
RWZ was an update to Hero side that Villains could tag along with. Same for the ITF and even the Incarnate Trials feel like that.
Although unlike the RWZ, there are some repeatable faction contatcs there - so Vilalins/loyalists can still run missions themed to their morality, even if the actual zone storyline ignores them. -

I get plenty of exercise anyway - so it's ok to be still for an hour or so when playing

Quote:I guess you'll find First Ward as a big slap in the face then...And to think, they still decided not to revamp Mercy Island.
The biggest kick in the teeth to me came when RWZ was revamped. I took my only character, a level 45 Stalker and jumped on a LGTF. I spent the next few missions wondering who the hell all the NPCs were (Penny, Clockwork King, Hero 1, Fusionette) and why my character was helping them.
