The point of this thread had been the DPS of MA chains in general, regardless of secondary and regardless of target.
Just to clarify, Werner's DPS comparison was based on him trying to acheiver the best DPS chain with those Primary sets. He figured with Quickness out of SR he'd be able to attain the Recharge needed to attain said DPS. Those DPS comparisons have nothing to do with the Pylong Rikti Thread. Again, the DPS's I listed where an attempt to work out the BEST DPS chain available at that time, using SR for recharge.

Well if I'm posting inaccaurate DPS then it's only b/c it's an older spread sheet from Werner I'm using; however, I don't think straight up numbers have changed since the base line is using the SR secondary and no Incarnate stuff.

As for that DPS list ghost posted, it isn't very representative of actual DPS potential. Katana being better than Dual Blades?
As I said before these are based on Werner's DPS comparison spread sheet, if you have a question as to how or why, ask Werner. I just copied and pasted

IN order from Werner's number comparison, and from the Rikti Pylon thread:

    Kat 242 DPS
    DB 237 DPS
    Claws/DM 217 DPS
    MA 216 DPS
    BS 212 DPS
KM nothing listed, but if you look through Rikti Pylon thread you should find a KM on there.

These results are all with SR secondary. If you throw SD in there with AAO saturated, it skews DPS as Dark can achieve around 255 dps with AAO sat.

Been reading through the RPT and see that Dark/SD broke the 300 dps barrier, FA/SD hit around 260+ dps, and another Fire/SD did 279 dps. Dark/SD and Fire/SD seems to be stoopid DPS.

    1) IO sets to cap your Positional Defenses. In my Mace Shield Brute I ended up using primarily Mako's Bite, Obliteration, Eradication, and then IOs with bonuses to all 3 positions so that my Melee, Ranged and AoE defenses were all at or above 45%

    2) Since you are Broadsword, you can afford to get fewer Melee defense bonuses, as long as you plan to use Parry.

    3) don't skimp on your Resistances. Shield is primarily Defense based, but it gets solid amounts of Damage resistance and that shouldn't be ignore. A good way to get some solid additional Resistance, would be to use the Cardiac in your Alpha Incarnate slot once you get that far. This provides Resistance and more importantly cuts down on the Endurance costs for EVERYTHING. Since Shield and Broadsword are both END intensive, that's very important.
Cardiac is good, but he can pump out his dmg to insane amounts with musculature and take Ageless for +end, +recovery, +recharge, and never have to worry about end...while also boosting up his Recharge

3.96-DPS Recharge-153% Crane Kick/Cobra Strike (which ever you prefer)
    1.848-DPS R-225% Storm Kick
    3.96-DPS R-103% CAK

    This Generates around 216 DPS

All this is taken from Werner's DPS sheet, I do not take credit for these numbers.

I fixed my Mids to accept it; however, I don't know if it'd be worth the 20% to do -Resist 10.3 sec...vs the 20% Lethal Dmg for 71.8. Although the 20% would stack nicely with my Debuff proc from Incarnate. If I really wanted to get the most out of -Resist I could throw the Fury of Gladiator into Shield charge or Dragon's Tail.

Therefore either cobra or crane, which are now identical apart from their secondary effect, is ideal to fill in the final gap. Storm -> cobra -> storm -> crane would also work, and it would be fine, but it requires about the same recharge as the CAK chain and the CAK chain is superior for DPS, while also accepting an achilles heel proc.

You have storm kick and dragon's tail slotted optimally. Skip eagle's claw unless you just love the animation or the critical bonus effect. It is not part of anything resembling MA's optimal chain and between hasten and recharge bonuses you oughtn't need it.

I just today got my MA/DA scrapper respecced fully into the storm -> cobra -> storm -> CAK chain and I can tell you that it is as sexy as you'd hope.
    That makes me happy

And... Yes I just like the Animation of EC for Fun, playing against normal stuff. When I have to hit up an AV or EB then yeah I'd go to optimal chain. EC just looks so freaking sweet though, wish they'd make the DMG so HIGH, that it could be worked into an optimal DPS chain despite the cool (albiet Loonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng) animation.

That's strange I didn't know CAK has -Def...you can't pick achilles heel to go into the Set in Mids...but you can in game?
  13. First of all, you guys in the Scrapper forums are super awesome, way better, nicer, and helpful than in the Brute section, so thanks all.

Has anyone reworked the MA chain since the improvemtent to Cobra Strike? Not sure when they bumped the damage, but it's close in damage to the Crane Kick with same activation time.

So has anyone developed a DPS chain working it in?

    (Looking at you Werner)

Here is a build I did, if y'all care to comment or make improvements, especially to the DPS out put I can achieve feel free to play. I have almost capped Defense and I plan on taking Ageless for shoring up End issues and the +recharge. The recharge will get me to the low end reactivation times needed for a good DPS chain. I also plan on taking +75 proc dmg, +25 -Resist, and the Alpha will be Musculature 45% Dmg increase. I have them selected so all you have to do is turn Incanate on to see.

I wish I could get to HP cap or close, but it's just not feasible for sacraficing DPS as far as I can tell. Yes I could take Rebirth for it; however, then I have no +recharge and a nightmare for end issues, thanks. Also, tried to work in some more Resistance; however, not sure if I like it.

This build is actually quite similar to my own in terms of the goals. I have a little less recharge, but the AoE chain, fire defense, and ageless destiny for infinite endurance is ridiculous for farming. You spend so much time attacking and take so little damage, you don't even need to use single target attacks or even heal really. Just load up on reds and go to town.

If your toon is optimized to solo an ITF, then it isn't optimized to run a fire farm. I'm not saying you can't do both well, it's just that a character built with a fire farm in mind will farm it faster and more safely than one that isn't. A jack of all trades build is fine, and I totally understand the merit of wanting to do it all with one character. That's where multiple builds come into play IMO. I don't have such devotion to any one of my characters, so I don't mind having toons that are built for different things.

For farming a fire map, I would not use that build you posted. For regular content, it's a pretty normal setup. I would probably change a couple things around, but then again I'm not a huge fan of FA for normal content. Mine is strictly farming only.
Ok, thanks so much for the intelligent and mature reply. I get it now, my build isn't optimal for Farming. I realize that haveing Dual and now even Tri builds would be more advantageous. The caveat there is, who the heck wants to poor that much infl into one character? I mean specing him out for once is fine...thinking my current build was around a bil. As I did have some things from drops and didn't have to buy to many pricey things. I couldn't fathom building on slot powers (2) with even half that. So, I guess I was trying to be greedy and get both done for one proce

Again, I really appreciate the positive criticisim and not a flat out flame.

Could you show me something Novel on a build? Or how about Optimized? I'd say my build is optimally built for defense. It's Novel in the fact that it can do more and survive more than just a Fire Farm. TF/SF's, iTrials, and old fashion mission farms...i.e. (T.V., Demon, BM, Dreck -Dreck)

Wow, no love the s/l def. Everyone, that has said something about the s/l, I want you to go and farm a non Fire map and see how far you get. Heck, go on an itrial and fight on your own w/out the support of a team. Solo an ITF..see how far you can get. I doubt very far. My recharge is fine, especially when FS activates the +recharge. The only real problem I was having was end. Solved that with Cardiac and boosted my Resistance to boot.

Now, on the real fourmites, if you are going to critique a build and not throw one up that you think is better, then you have no proof or solid ground to stand on, you can't prove that my build is under par, until you blow my time out of the water. Oh ...what, you have no times? Hmm...well what can you use for proof? Take you at your word? Show me the Numbers! (and Builds)

Special thanks to the one guy (Firery-Enforcer, I'm looking at you) who did put up his version of what he thought was better. No times, but he doesn't actually have a build slotted that way. So, whatever that's worth. But hey he did half of what I asked for. So, Kudos to you Sir.

If mine is worse I'll gladly say so, I'm not a braggart and I'm not looking to be the best I'm simply looking for the best. If mine happends to be that right now, then so be it. I did look at yours, and it doesn't seem better to me, I could be missing something but all you have is more recharge, which I can get with spiritual. How does that toon fair vs other Non-Fire content? I guess I was thinking farming more than juat fire farms...I was thinking like BM farm Demon farm (which is still fire, I know) T.V farm...Dreck farm that's not Dreck. How would y'alls toons face those Farms?

Not sure where the fail was, but w/e. Anyhow, I guess no one has built a better SS/FA farmer. The reason for the S/L def. is for iTrials and TF/SF's that I want to do w/this character as well, not just farming.

*Side note, Fire has smashing component.*

If someone has a great farming build post it with times you have finished the top 3 farms. My build does suck a lot of end though, so I think I need to fix that. Any suggestions?
  21. This is a SS/FA/MU build that is destroying the FAMRING Business. Take a look, and if you think your build is better post it with times finishing the top 3 Farms. Cyborg and the other 2 that escape my memory at present. This is for me to test my build against speed vs speed. Friendly replies please, I am not tyring to come off smug, I just think this is close to an Uber build as you can get; however, I have been wrong before

Tactics is superfulous. Punch needs enhancements. Healing flames could use one more Doctored Wounds for the bonus. Rage is... well interestingly slotted. Are you a veteran that can get a travel power without getting the prerequisite? I would say the +3% defense pvp io would be a better investment the a random chance to get a small heal or endurance return. Pop the Winters Gift IO in SJ's empty slot. What was the thinking behind [Blazing Aura]'s set choice? I never recommend mixing positional and typed defense IO sets unless it gets you that 1-2% you need to be soft capped. I would personally go with Mu Mastery, E-Fences and Ball Lighting. Gives you a second AoE to use and has better damage and doesn't need 3 power picks.

    That enough to think about?
Yeah that was great, next time don't hold back though ;p

Seriously I re-did the build, and this is what I have. The blazing Aura set choice is for the added def...that also gives you the most end with dmg. Oblit and others don't have enough end redux with there sets. Yes I am a Vet than can get my travel power early. I wasn't trying to mix positional and typed, it just turned out that way. THanks, I did go with Mu Mastery, as you can see here:

  23. So, has anyone actually looked at this build? What does the Brute community think? This survivable?

What about for Alpha and iPowers? I have MU now and yes damage is great; however, End sometimes is a problem. I don't think Static Discharge was an avialable power back when I made this character, so that might help. What do you use out of the MU set?

Another thing I was thinking was that if I went with Pyre it'd be less end spent on throwing 2 AOE's compared to 1 and it does almost 270 dmg...the 2 AOE's together from MU do around 340~350ish dmg, but like I said that's alot of end being thrown every 5-7 sec. So, FE doesn't give Fire dmg 100% boost anymore?
  25. That's the question, I have a SS/FA (well don't we all); however, I have Mu patron right now, and was thinking of switching to Pyre so FE will give the Pyre set more dmg. The only thing is, it's one AOE compared to the 2 from MU. Also, I know some use soul to get that -to hit debuff to help cap def. I just don't like the cone it's seems not to hit a lot of units unless you jump out of mob and then have to jump back in for Burn.

So, what do most of you Brutes out there perfer?

Also, comments on the Alpha and other iPowers, as in what y'all use what's considered the "best" I use the term losely as I've seen diffrent strokes for diffrent fokes so far. Just wondering what MOST Brutes are using.

Criteria: This is for Farming puposes and TF/SF's Thanks.
