  1. I know it's a little late, but...

    [ QUOTE ]
What puts you off reading the stories published on the boards?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Stories that are rather graphical. It's ok for the setting of a location to go into more then the nessesary detail.

I don't want to read about a sword's results, I don't think it's adding much to depict every fork of what ever being shuffled in.

The latter is rare, but I have more problems with the former. Luckily, they aren't too common either.
  2. Ghost

    Guidelines?

I think it's fair to assume we take the backstory with a grain of salt, not in a small part due to it not being openly known without trawling through fan sites and such.

Basically, we take events into account: WWII, the Hollowing, the Rikti invasion, the spanish inquisition, and so on.

But their claim of 'most powerful magically blessed', well... that's easily amended by adding 'known' to it.

Statesman might be the incarnation of Zues, but if we have Zues himself running around... well, you get the picture (not saying we do, and doing so would be somewhat bad taste imho, just giving an example)

Anyone else noticed that, so far, there'll be absolutely no male characters attending this thing? <G>

    [/ QUOTE ]

well it's an experiment, thing might well change, as might the make up of the the Characters there

    [/ QUOTE ]
Who knows, there may even be straight women there!
  4. (( I just figured out the best part about UGG! .... no PEDS! ))

  5. *heads spins with all the lables*

    Ultimate?
    616?
    AoA?
    MUD?

And some more that are bount to come up...
Can anyone give me a run down?
  6. and now I fear I've put a stick in the wheel or something, and sort of convinced FFM and Zortel to keep the IRC GG in line with ingame GG...

Personally, for reasons I can't really put in words, I feel very uncomfortable with this alternate version.

But, let's give you all a chance to have their say.

    Pro's? Con's? Feelings?
  7. Me?

    I have a few characters...

    Jess "Grav Mistress"
She falls in the "near god" catagory, I think. Or atleast she would if I choose to play her that way.
She's a mage of great lore and understanding and power, and on top of that, a Peacebringer.
I RP her in (power) situations as they come. Basically, if I can think of it, she can do it. Then my brain kicks in and starts to come up with a way that sounds plausible and somewhat down to earth, I add flaws (usually time) to that idea.
In the end, I hope Jess come across as an accomplished but still believable mage. Yes, a bit heavy on the power, perhaps, but still human.

Now, her personality... she does have flaws. But, still, the same principle I use applies to this.
Jess has a fairly stable personality, though lately even that's being severely tested.
Jess does have characterflaws, yes. But I think they're fairly well hidden. Though lately, one of those flaws/fears has been tested to the point of breaking. (This is an interesting time to RP Jess )

    As for my other characters...

Tower of Power is a huge muscle with a large bank account, and a fairly stable personality (except when it comes to women, I found out )

Attomic Kitten... *ponders hard on strengths...* hmmm, a flawed character she is *ponders more on what strengths she has* Well, she's a cheerful character, crazy as I can make her, has healing powers and attomic blasts, not to mention an uncanny ability to make (minor) metagaming comments and pickign up on typos IC

    addition:
on a more "Me" personal note, I tend to start of wanting to be allpowerful. I like to play a fps in god mode with unlimited ammo.
Then I get (naturally) bored with it and start to add the flaws.
I had a lot of fun running a lvl 40 mage through the entire game of Icewind Dale. I made him, picked his spells for solo ability: no team to worry about, just me and the bad guys.

So, my characters rarely HAVE to rely on others, on a team.

    [ QUOTE ]
The Devouring Earth were once humans but have become so mutated

    [/ QUOTE ]

To be pedantic, only the Devoured were once human, the rock, crystal and plant-form creatures never were.

    [/ QUOTE ]
While on the "Unity Plague" story arc, I was asked to capture some test subjects (lesser or greater Devoured) and upon return I got this:
    [ QUOTE ]
"The creatures you captured have already been picked up by the lab's research team. they won't hurt them; after all, those critters used to be Paragon citizens!"

    [/ QUOTE ]
The scientists are always trying to reverse the Lost Mutation, too

I just wonder what to do with the Rikti...
  9. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Of course, I 'could' be mistaken, but... I think Grav and Ellie are the longest stable couple (who met ingame, not IC before) that have wedding plans.

    [/ QUOTE ]

For the record, yes, you are wrong. Crow and Stargazer met before either of you two turned up at GG and are still together. Okay, so in an alternative version of history, they split up over Nevermore, but in the current reality, they're still together, and I believe they have plans to get married. You can take the farmboy out of Wales, but you can't take Wales out of the farmboy... marriage will be required.

(And I belatedly note that Z got there first. )

    [/ QUOTE ]
Stargazer and Warcrow met for the first time InGame? No prior offscreen introductions? And still not married?

If the answers are yes, no, no... then I concur: longest standing ingame adult couple not married
(that we know off, of course... there's bound to be some others out there, Weasel and Stasis?)

    [ QUOTE ]
Jane, silent artist, but i believe Vonk was kinda interested in her...

    [/ QUOTE ]
But if you meant Jane (Luminous Phoenix?)... it makes no difference, she's getting married to Kathena.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    now there's an interesting thought.
I didn't know this (IC or OOC). But now that i do OOC, we must find a way to tell Vonk IC.
I'll let the players of Kat and Jane work out the details. Next time i'm on with Vonk we'll see what happens.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Whether Vonk knows or not, makes no difference.
Grav's been hit on by several guys in the past, so long as they weren't too forward, she'd just take the complements with a smile. When it becomes 'too much' (or annoying or boring or...) she'd inconspicuiously make her engagement ring obvious, if that doesn't work... "You know, my fianceƩ told me that just yesterday"

So... instead of an IC announcement, just play it out. Vonk will either get the picture eventually or have his hopes shattered like a brick through a window

Oh, and Sara, what happened to that date with Statesman?
  11. No, I do not know about the Marvel's Ultimate or 616 universes...

as for the execution, some of my thoughts:

I don't think we'll need an elaborete combat system, we didn't need one at GG...

I think we'd need a variant of GGOOC, which would also serve as a list of those online at that time? (Mandatory to join, chat on if wanted?)

... short list of thoughts, this because I realised most have been mentioned already.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
Longest IC between two players (without any retcons) would be Juan and Mina, from June-ish time, though Jessica and Kiyarii are close, followed by Jess and Ellie.

Longest IC between two players with recton is Stargazer and War Crow.

Alex Reed and Samantha Wells have the longest relationship, but don't get played much. They were together since May.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Jessica and Kiyarii got married in August (15th?), so fall in the 'dated a short time' catagory...

And correct me if I'm wrong, but... aren't Alex and Samantha both played by you?
  13. [ QUOTE ]
And Jen is Grav Mistress right? If so, Vonk's gonna be a bit wee upset. Or facinated.

    [/ QUOTE ]
No, Grav is Jess (Jessica van Steenbergen (or Jessica Stoneberg) )

    [ QUOTE ]
Jane, silent artist, but i believe Vonk was kinda interested in her...

    [/ QUOTE ]
But if you meant Jane (Luminous Phoenix?)... it makes no difference, she's getting married to Kathena.

    [ QUOTE ]
It's also been known to speed up relationships. Take Kitmarch and Telepath for example; they've been going out for a few months now, and they're already getting married.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Of course, I 'could' be mistaken, but... I think Grav and Ellie are the longest stable couple (who met ingame, not IC before) that have wedding plans.
(and the wedding is later then dates I heard of the others)
Point of note... I don't count Juan and Mina, as they are still minors
Correct me if I'm wrong, of course
  14. Personally, I'd have to have a reason to join in...
Whether this is a "every X night at Y time"
    Or something specific schedualed.

But other than that, I'd be up for it.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Doctor Temporis' plot here is the biggest and seems to involve the majority of GGers at the moment.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    owkeee....
i've got some reading to do

    [/ QUOTE ]

The last Doc T plot update gets you up to speed, though the rest is well worth the read also

Just... well, sometimes it can be a bit hard to seperate OOC knowledge from IC knowledge.
  16. I was thinking a bit along the lines of IC 'requirements'

    Examples:
    Hatred for Crey
Past connections with Circle of Thorns
    Likes to visit Pocked D
Bathes only once a week, with a rubber ducky
Easily recognized by the missing of ... a middle finger?

Something like that (but more serious and less specific?) rather then game requirements such as AT, lvl or powerset
  17. Perhaps a list of 'needs' would help, things that would make it easier to get involved?

Also, the interaction between CoV and CoH is somewhat limited, more an obstacle than a barrier, but still.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
There you have it. They all know my name, as in 'Aisla', but the characters...

    [/ QUOTE ]
I know a few more names than that

Besides, showing up regularly with a regular character and regularly writing a 'Last night...' in the GG thread works wonders
  19. People, let's not chase the new blood, I mean new player away, shall we?

Honestly, Star Jewel, they're not always like that...
Oh, who am I kidding, they are!
(And that's what makes it so much fun)

Oh, and Aisla, hun, if you want your characters to be seen, try having them stand in view
Like RC's or Max' spots, those are good visibility positions
  20. [ QUOTE ]
I think it's healthy to add 'lone' characters into the mix

    [/ QUOTE ]
I think what this means is a character that doesn't come with automatic SG baggage
ie: being able to move more freely between the groups.

    I could be mistaken, though

Although relationships do develop around GG, not all are romantic
Also, it's very easy to avoid romantic relationships. (they rarely happen between characters that have just met, and without dropping hints and such)
  21. Welcome!

    [ QUOTE ]
    i'm new...
    ...be gentle on me.
    ...help me around.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Sure thing!
    First order of business...
Being an RPer doesn't mean you RP constantly (although there are those around) so don't be scared of running around OOC (Out Of Character)

But even in IC (In Character) it's fairly standard to sat "Gratz!" ... or rather "(( Gratz! ))" . A friend of mine that's IC almost all the time has it actually bound, so he can gratz someone without taking even a slight break in the fight.

Feel free to stop by GG. Every night at 9pm (10 for us) at the Galaxy Girl statue. (just because it's on every night doesn't mean you have to be there every night )

    [schaamteloze reclame]

GG: it's not the only venue to RP, but it's the most visible one

    [/schaamteloze reclame]
  22. [ QUOTE ]
In light of the rikti invasion america has changed its currency from dollars to influence.

    Is that a good explaination?

    [/ QUOTE ]
it could... but, iirc, influence has been explained (by the devs) as "favours"
  23. [ QUOTE ]
And it was Requiem & Co who had her store torched...

    [/ QUOTE ]
    It's all an elaborate plot!
Ellie starts to rival Icon (if in a minor way), Ellie's shop gets bombed... by Requiem! Coincidence? I think not!
Icon is instrumental to his riptear device scheems, I tell you!

    Back on track:

Grav showed up this morning at Doc's command centre, requesting a list of worlds to search.
Looking and acting a little more 'business like' then usual, and headed off to Penguin to commission a portal.

(sorry for not putting it in story form)
  24. [ QUOTE ]

Just to note that Civvies do go in and out of buildings.
Trust me, when I get bored I set one on follow and just walk after it (or rather run reaaaallly slowly).

    [/ QUOTE ]
usually rescued ones. (though maybe not any more)

    [ QUOTE ]
Perhaps mooks can get out easily because everyone's so distracted by keeping the archvillains and bosses in. (and when they get out it's probably a great feat of lawyership)

    [/ QUOTE ]
Indeed, that's more or less the 'logic' I applied to this. The 'non powered' are of a lower risk facter, so they get a bit less attention then they should.

And the 'reason' this is still happening:
    the lesser of two evils.
The city is still suffering from the invasion: every institute is underfunded and overworked.
Resource management, the powered ones pose a greater threat to the city, so it's more important to keep those in.

    addition:
    quote from Syra:
    [ QUOTE ]
Yes, discussion. Hence why I'm presenting my view of things.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'm sure you didn't intend it like that, but from my point of view, it looked a bit more like argueing then discussing
  25. In the static world that is CoX, there's no way for us to affect the game world and it's villains.

As an effect, the Zigurski correctional facility (excuse my spelling) is about as effective as a cardbord box, IC wise.

    Or is it?

Do you feel the Zig is a secure facility?

Does your character have faith in the Zig?

If the answer is "no", what alternative is there?

Do we need a better IC prison for out IC (plot) vilains?
