While I have never played a FF past low levels, I have played Sonic and I would go for that one.
Not only does sonic halve incoming damage but placing Disruption Field on an ally will severely weaken any baddie's resistance around that toon.
Cold is also a friggin awesome set. However if we are talking strictly Sonic or FF, I would choose Sonic. -
Would plants/thorns also be decent in PvP?

I guess slows are a forte of Ice/Rad, with LR and the blasts. Ice Storm and LR would slow a group pretty well. IMO the problem is that slows are a nice side effect rather than a goal. So while I love the slows on LR, Sleet, etc, I generally skip powers that are explicitly slows (like Snow Storm, even though its a pretty beastly slow).
Ice/Rad is a great all round team and TF char though. High ST damage for bosses and AVs, fantastic debuffs and a highly desireable team buff in AM. The AoE is a little on the weak side, as you've noted. Frost Breath is fairly meh and while awesome, Ice Storm just doesn't make up for a lack of a proper TAoE like Fireball.

Hey all..Ive tried a couple dominators back in the day and never had luck (blah blah same ol' story :P)
Im basically looking to try one and put some effort into it. I LOVE AoE and cant get enough of it...I would like a dom that is great in PvE and at least decent in PvP..
What are some great pairs for that?
I figured /thorn would be a good choice...Looking at mids, it seems to be strong and AoE-tastic. It's Lethal/Toxin but I can get over that :P
What would pair well with Thorns?
Also, there is a moderate chance that i will wait 3 weeks and make an elec dom for my GR toon...

Hello all,
I've had this Ice/Rad for over 2 years I would say...the last year he's been shelved at lvl 40 partly due to breaks and no desire to play him.
Frankly, I don't even remember why I made him but I don't want to delete him because he's my highest villain on my home server.
My question is, what are Ice/Rad's good at? TF? Teams? PvP? Farms? (lol) AV's?
I guess my main issue is because I am an AoE *****..I hate the idea of only using ST attacks so I even grabbed Frost Breath, but I don't like it so I never use it. Ice Storm isnt bad AoE damage tho I suppose...
TL;DR:
What are some of Ice/Rad's specialties?

Ok, I took a little of everyone's builds and I made a better version of mine. Now, I know that a dark/dark Defender is not gonna be raking in the kills, but Ive had this toon for a long time and I think I will enjoy it.
Here is the new slightly more expensive build. It doesn't have all the trimmings that I would like (mostly because im poor :P) and it will take a while before I get those apocalypse's..but this is the current plan:
