Quote:Let's see:How about granting Rename Tokens as rewards? Or Transfer tokens?
Not that I don't appreciate the extra character slots on my main server (I do I really do), but having hte ability to transfer characters for free or rename them would be awesome.
ALSO:
Another idea would be a Supergroup Rename Token. This would absolutely rock!
Rename Tokens
Transfer Tokens
SG Rename Tokens
Yes, yes and HECK YES. Though I will admit that the last one may not satisfy many since not all 6+ year veterans run Supergroups. But overall darn good ideas I think. -
Quote:You have FOUR 14 year old boys? Not sure how you swung that (Quadruplets?) but you have my respec man. I have a 16 year old girl and a 14 year old boy and find that hard.As one of the"few", ( I am quite sure that there are actually quite a few of us around. We just all don't post.) who has been here since alpha. I am happy with the reward. To be honest, this game has given me something way more than trinkets, my time with my four 14 year old boys. They and I got our subs when they were six! Yet here they are teens and still play the game frequently with their "old man".

Quote:I have to agree with this as well. It's good for the European players and I am not begrudging them a contest, but sucks for people here with no art skills.See, now I'm irritated. This is a contest that I'd actually stand a ghost of a chance of winning as it doesn't require you to be an artist like most of the US competitions, and it's only open to the EU players. When does the US get a contest like this?
EDIT - And just to point out, I'm glad the EU got their own contest, just irritated that of all the contests the US players get most require some form of artistic skill of which I am completely devoid. A costume design contest I'd stand a chance at, but we never get stuff like that. *Shrug* Oh well. Have fun with that one EU, and may the best (wo)man win! -
OMG, someone please tell me they are not going to try and get me to buy a comic for $3.00 an issue. I am sure people would do it, but after the whole "Emote Pack" issue going on this is really going to stress my ability to support this game anymore if I am right.

I don't do poems, but grats to the winners anyway.

Quote:I have to agree with Hallowed here and I'll leave it at that.Did you miss anything? Plenty. And at the same time, it would seem you mentally added things that were not there.
a) Show me where I'm "tying to force my opinions" on anyone. Until you threw a hissy-fit in my direction and started with personal attacks, I was having a calm discussion, talking about my experiences, likes and dislikes on this subject.
b) My opinion, is, in fact, all about me... specifically what I like or dislike. Just like yours is all about you. The difference? I don't throw a fit when someone offers a dissenting opinion.
c) I specifically stated that your opinion "is no more valid than mine". Nowhere did I say you were not entitled to yours, nor that yours was inferior.
d) When you "have 0 experience in the game" is when you have the greatest potential to learn, especially when there are large amounts of veteran players around from whom you can learn. In some ways, you may be better off, because you are not coming in with assumptions about how things "should" work.
e) Much like here, while there are a number of posts in the beta forums complaining about difficulty, for the most part, they are simply the same people complaining over and over. In my testing, almost none of the people I ran with complained about the difficulty. Is that anecdotal? Sure. But so are the experiences of those bothering to complain on the boards. Datamining will give the devs actionable data. Everything else is just speculation.
f) The types of difficulty increases offered by difficulty shifting are specifically not the types of things that make fighting these mobs enjoyable (for me, at least). Giving them more hp, making them hit more, take less damage, etc, isn't the same type of challenge these mobs provide versus "standard" CoH mobs. You have to think more, fight smarter and try new things until you figure out what to do against a given group. Raising the level does not provide that. So, nerfing the mobs by changing how they function, which is what you seem to be advocating, will make them less fun for me (and others who share my opinion), regardless of the ability to raise the difficulty. Allowing you to lower the difficulty, however, will make it easier for you.
g) You do not "HAVE THE RIGHT TO PLAY WHATEVER WAY [you] WANT". You have the right to play the game as intended by the devs. Within those parameters you can play how you want, but that doesn't mean you'll get the results you want.
h) As to your summary, most things are covered above, but I want to make something clear: I did not tell you (or anyone else) to quit. You threatened to quit, which is what I alluded to at the end of my previous post.
Finally, putting me on ignore... shrug. It's an interesting move, given that you went personal (first... I admittedly responded somewhat in kind) when there was simply a discussion at hand. It's the equivalent of taking your ball and going home, when you're losing a game, even though it was played by your rules.
If you did go through with your 'threat" you may never see this (unless someone quotes it w/o the tags to me), but I felt it important to address this type of behavior, as it's popping up on the boards in a number of places. Everyone on the boards is entitled to an opinion. If it's counter to yours, that doesn't mean that people are saying you don't count. It means they disagree. and that's ok. Please leave whatever r/l persecution issues you may have off of these boards, and try to stick to rational discussions.
Peace. -
Someone that attends this PLEASE get this kid a button and costume code. It really isn't right that someone that lives so close can't attend just because the staff at Paragon Studios enjoys their alcohol too much.

Quote:I apologize, I just looked it up and I did miss-quote them. But you have to admit in reading the comments made, it is pretty easy to draw the conclusion that they were alluding a market merge never happening. Along came side switching and Praetoria and that almost forced them to merge markets to keep a three way balance through out the game. The Dev's never said anything about the market merge never happening. Posi at one point said it was unlikely to happen while the blue and red side economies were so imbalanced...but that's the closest it ever got.
Power set Respecification is one of the few things that actually *has* been said to never happen. Power Customization, Market Merger, and all the other things people often quote as "They said it would never happen but here it is!" were all said to be "unlikely" or "very difficult" or the like...but were never said to "never happen".
As for being able to change your power sets. It has been said it will never happen and so far I can not find anything that would cause them to change their minds other than a major change in the staff at Paragon Studios. -
Ding! Point to Hallowed.

Or you are still paying for the access and choosing not to use it, but you still get the Vet reward.

Quote:Woot, 1st post after a Red Name!
Fixed a bug with all contacts introduced through Calvin Scott and Provost Marchand where players would have to click on the contact twice before they would give out missions. This affects the following contacts:- Robert Flores
- Jessica Flores
- Aaron Walker
- Ricochet
- Hatchet
- Crow
- Interrogator Washington
- Interrogator Kang
- IVy
- Deputy Assistant of Info.
- Mr. G
- Dr. Hetzfeld
Seriously though, I like this part. Granted it was only a minor annoyance. But nice to see it fixed. -
I'm not trying to be a jerk here Starfruit, but can you please edit this post and be more "descriptive" about what you mean. I've really been wracking my brain and it just isn't adding up. I'm pretty sure you aren't suggesting that people be able to buy the Vet reward costume pieces, but at the same time you might be. Just hoping you'll clear up the meaning of your post. Thanks.

Most companies that make video cards come out with driver updates on a monthly basis. Keep in mind though that they do not necessarily make updates for your specific video card every month. Still though, I try to check monthly just to make sure I am up to date.

Quote:That point of view has some validity, but only if you feel everyone has the right to have the same as everyone else. I do not share that viewpoint. I believe we all deserve exactly what we work (or in this case pay) for. Everything eventually ends, yes. Therefore someone who buys my 10 year old used car can not expect it to run like it was just came off the factory floor.Only if you assume the game is going to go on forever. Ultimately, given the more realistic view that the game will inevitably end, it is unfair to anyone who wasn't able to get on the bandwagon from the start. And the longer the game goes on and the more vet rewards that are added the more unfair it becomes to latecomers. So not only is the system unfair, it becomes more unfair as time goes on.
If you came in late to the game, you work (or pay) to catch up at the same rate as everyone else. That is the fairest way it can be done. By the same token, those that did come into this later get a game much more advanced than when I came into it six years ago. After all, back then Heroes could only go to level 40, there was no PvP or Co-Op zones, and no CoV yet either, let alone GR.
If I were to take your "fairness system" to it's logical conclusion, then I should have had all that stuff, all these years. I see it that since I didn't, and my money has helped to keep this game going all these years, the Dev's came up with a system to keep people like me more interested. New players get a much more amazing game and I get a few extra Bennie's. That seems fair to me overall. -
Not really definitive, but just the same not worth arguing about. I guess we are in wait and see mode. Thanks for the info by the way.

Bravo to that MaestroMavius!
Just one question though, where are the Difficulty NPC's icon on the map. Dispari says they are shown on the map and so I'm thinking "Cool, where are they (cause I don't remember seeing them)?" So I went and checked each of the three above ground zones as well as each of the three below ground zones and . . . nothing. I found a lot of merit vendors as well as regular vendors, I found the Leveling NPC, and all my contact NPC's, yea they all showed up on the map, but no Icon for the Difficulty NPC.
I am still not sure the difficulty was not set high in Praetoria on purpose and the Difficulty NPC left out on purpose. Though I will admit I could be wrong, I am not the Dev's after all. But for arguments sake, if it was an accident that the NPC was left out, then where is the Icon that Dispari speaks of? -
Well Dispari, I just can't find the desire to argue your dozen reasons I am wrong (funny, I only saw two though). It seems that you are the type that can't see other peoples side of an argument and must always be right. So I am done trying to help you see a broader aspect of this debate.
And thank you for the back-up Seth. Word (and a fresh view) from a new player is always welcome. -
Quote:I have been seen a bunch of new players MaestroMavius, but not as many as I would have expected. Still though, they seem to be doing a lot of advertising/contests after the release too, so maybe it was done intentionally to work out the remaining bugs before the real push went out (I am strongly hoping this anyways).I'm still waiting to be bombarded with the rush of new players...
I've seen maybe, 3 in game with no vet badges and 3 on the boards asking questions...
I was really, really hoping GR would give us a large boost in popularity.
I'm still loving it all the same, just wish they'd spent something on advertising. -
I have respect for people (not reputation) with strong well thought out arguments that are debated well, yours and Cap are not. I have yet to hear of one single new person that does not like Praetoria, while I have talked to several that like/love it (keep an eye on the local and broadcast chat like I have, it's amazing what you will see).
Your argument is flawed because YOU don't like something and expect that EVERY new player will feel the same way. I don't buy that and neither will anyone else that thinks about it.
In my experience new players (myself and others I have talked to) to almost any game EXPECT to have a hard time until they learn the rules. At that point they are moving on to other areas of the game.
That is why yours and Cap's arguments are not worthy of my respect anymore (BTW, you two used to be the people I respected the most, even though I disagreed with you often). Stop quoting imaginary people and use your own arguments for yourself and not EVERY NEW PLAYER OUT THERE. -
Wow Cap, gonna have to put you down there with Dispari. That is plain and simple the weakest argument I have heard yet.
As for your leaving, I wish you fair winds and following seas. -
OMG, that's your argument? I just lost all respect for you Dispari. Not even bothering to reply further.
-
OK, maybe your right. Except I have the Complete Collection installed on my computer and it just let me make a hero and take it to Paragon City. I also have two friends that started playing after GR was released and they have no problem making a toon in either Paragon City of the Rogue Isles. GR was NOT intended as the only starting zone, it was designed to be an additional starting zone. Get your facts straight next time please.

I have to agree with CodeJunkie. While picking your own reward would SEEM like a good idea. It would quickly turn into a fiasco. Better to set up one system and go with that. It may be time to rethink the order/appropriateness of awards and such, but otherwise keep it a unified single system.

Awesome! Welcome back Sir Giles!!!!!!
