  1. So will my Achilles Tendon-Chance for Res Debuff, slotted in Grave Knights, have a chance to work on when all my pets attack, or just when I attack?
  2. I received an "Achilles Heel-Chance for Resistance Debuff" slotted in Grave Knight and a "Kismet-6% Accuracy Unique" slotted in Maneuvers. I received both through dumb luck.

Are these not doing anything for my pets then, just for my character (who only uses Gloom as an attack)?

I'm going to /respec for the inherent Fitness anyway, so should I place the Achilles Heel and Kismet somewhere else, send to another of my alts, or sell them because they're not really doing much of anything?
  3. My Necro/Pain MM hit level 30 last night is is rolling along well. I've started to plan for some IO sets in him and wanted to see if IO Set bonuses (+9% Acc, -5% rechg, etc.) apply to pets, or just to my character. This would greatly affect my slotting for powers in anticipation for IO Sets.

    Thanks.
  4. I created a Demon Summoning MM when that primary was first released and deleted it very quickly. I absolutely hated all the shrieking and howling and groaning they do. Plus, they're too big! They just get in the way of everything. I don't even like teaming with other DS/ MMs. The noise, the noise! yuck

I have a lvl 33 Ice/AXE Tanker who I've had a hate/hate relationship with for quite a while. Getting to lvl 20 for Stamina was brutal. I remember I hit 20 midway through a mission, immediately ran out of the mission, leveled up, slotted Stamina, and then returned to the mission. That's how bad I needed Stamina on him. I once spent 5 hours on a beautiful Sunday afternoon constantly yelling at the computer in utter frustration with him. I still have hopes that, one day, I'll be able to figure out a way to make him fun. He's slightly better on teams, but still so SLOW!

I have several alts who I don't particularly care for (Ice/Traps Corruptor, Stone/Stone Tanker, Storm/Elec Defender), and I have some alts who WERE fun but just kind of ran out of gas (Illusion/FF Controller, Claws/Dark Scrapper, DB/Nin Stalker).
  5. I'll join up. My MA/SR is the proud new owner of a Cardio Slot, so plenty of END!

    Where should we meet?
  6. That ended up being a pretty successful run last night. We ran through it twice with 4+ teams, and many Shards were picked up by the participants.

Thanks for the great teams, everyone!
  7. This sounds like fun. Where do you meet up for these?
  8. Yes, I had it a couple of times last night in Praetoria. I exited while hovering, and emerged standing on firm ground. Fortunately, this alt is not a toggle user. Some of my others, though........
  9. I was taking my level 50 MA/SR alt through the Alpha Slot missions and moving along pretty nicely. I got to the Honoree/Holtz mission and was about to engage with them when one of the many ambushes arrived. As I was fighting the Rikti, my END bar suddenly bottomed out, catching me by surprise. Not only that, but every power I used ate up a HUGE amount of END.

I noticed a power icon on my screen and clicked on it to find that I had the "Curse of Weariness", which apparently cuts END in half and makes all powers twice as expensive. Is anyone familiar with this? I've never heard of it before, and don't know where I got it from. Unfortunately, the info box told me that it would be around for another 56 minutes of real time, so my mission was ruined. I logged out for the night.

What is this, and why would anyone think this would be a good debuff for a character? Is this new?

    First 50?

My first 50 was my MA/SR Scrapper, and my fastest to 50 was my Bane (132 hours--fast for me!).

I have a lot of characters with a wide variety of powersets. I also write bio's for each one. The alts that make it to 50 are the ones who, for whatever reason, seem to have just the right combination of personality, powers, and costume to make me want to play them more than my others. You never know in advance which characters these may be, either. All my 50's (all 5) were just regular characters who kind of "blossomed" at a certain point, and I ended up taking them all the way to 50.

Other characters seem to run out of gas at a certain point and get stuck. Why? Who knows. It's another thing that makes this game fun and challenging--which alts will maintain my interest the longest.
  11. Cardiff, thanks for your help with this.

You were right, as this was apparently the problem (Dell monitor conflicting with software). What amazes me is that the problem first came up for Dell in 2003, and they released the "fix" in 2004, yet my Dell monitor was purchased in 2008!

I think I'm done with Dell. They were willing to "help" me for $59.95. I went out and spent $200 on a new (not Dell) monitor instead.

Thanks again for you help in diagnosing the problem!
  12. So far, I've respecced 2 alts (one high level, one low) to account for inherent Fitness (great on low-level characters!!!), got my Alpha Slot unlocked on another character, and hooked up my brand new wide-screen monitor! woo-hoo! Even the Rogue Isles look bright and spiffy with this thing!
  13. Any advice on this? It's still happening, but not often enough that I can recreate it at will.
  14. As I was re-doing my build, one thing I was considering was dropping the 2 extra slots from Health and 4-slotting Weave and Invincibility instead. At least until I get to lvl 50 and the Alpha Slot. At that point, maybe I could change things around a bit, depending on which route I decide to go (still too far in the future for this alt to make that decision now).

Anyway, I'm enjoying playing the character AND planning out possible future builds for him.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm afraid I've done something incredibly stupid here!
  16. This problem just started yesterday. I go onto CoH as normal and click on any "screen" such as the Wentworth's salespeople, the Team button on Chat, enything, and my monitor flashes the "Auto Detect (Analog) Power Save", then my monitor goes dark. I can still hear the game running, I just can't see anything. Nothing I do makes the monitor show anything again.

I have to turn the computer off AND physically unplug the computer from the wall! Otherwise, when I turn my computer back on, the monitor immediately shows the Power Save message again and I can't even see to get back into my computer.

I recently upgraded this computer (2 years old) several weeks ago from Vista to Windows 7 and had a lot of problems with it. MS worked with me on it, and at one point, they chose a chipset that my computer "should" have. It worked fine. A couple of days ago, I got a message that this chipset needed to be updated, so I did that. This may be my problem.

I don't know what to do next. Below are my system specs:

  17. Wow! This is much better advice than I thought-thanks to both of you for this!

I'm glad I posted my potential build early, as I haven't really put much money into it so far (except for 3 sets of Reactive Armor). It looks like my build really did sacrifice a lot of Defense for very little payback. I'm going to rework this some and incorporate both your sets into it--it looks like I'll be much better off.

    Thanks again!
  18. This is the build I've put together for my SS/INV Brute (he's currently level 37), and I wanted to see how it looks so far.

I only PvE, and I'm trying to make him as indestructible as possible. Most of my IO sets are picked for the +Def bonuses. I'm slotting the Crushing Impacts for the +Acc, -Rechg, and +psiRes.

As I said, it's a work in progress, so I haven't decided on several IO sets. Also, when I19 comes out, I'll move some things up (Resist Energies) and think about another pool. I chose the Energy Mastery Epic Pool based purely on reading the powers descriptions, so any feedback on this would be very helpful.

  19. GGG247

    My i19 Rad/MM

I'd been thinking of boosting the survival rate of my Rad/MM Blaster for some time. However, I was approaching the problem from the standpoint of maximizing Ranged defense (he's a ranged Blaster, and uses Hover a lot). I was looking at using Thunderstrikes for my Ranged blasts, and Cleaving Blow/Eradication for my PBAoEs. Maybe take Manuevers and Weave, too, once I19 frees up some slots.

Although I don't think I could hit the softcap, it should give me Ranged defense in the mid 20s. Would this be a viable alternative?
  20. It was a lot of fun. Our group did the Hess tf is about 54 minutes, and I leveled up. I was surprised by how effective 8 Tankers could be when working together! We rolled through!!
  21. Great! I'll be there with Franken-Slacker, my SD/Elec level 28 Tanker then.
  22. This sounds like fun. Are there any level requirements for participating (my Freedom Tanker is level 28 right now)?
  23. I'm afraid I'm also one of those players who definitely plays my "role" on any team I've been invited to. When I'm playing my Tankers, I take gathering aggro very seriously. I want to be the first into every room and I Taunt constantly. I watch my fellow players' health bars like a hawk, and I jump around the room to gather any stragglers who may be getting away from me.

I get nervous when teammates run off on their own. Most of the time, they know what they're doing, but often they get a little carried away (as I do on my Scrappers many times!) and get into trouble. As a Tanker, I feel responsible for the team's health (except if they end up dying on an entirely different part of the map--I'm a Tanker, not a miracle worker).

It sounds like the Tanker in this case was just trying to keep the heat off the Brute by absorbing some of the excess mobs. As the crowd of enemies in a room decreases, the remaining mobs should tend to gravitate towards the Tank, as should the Tanker's teammates.
  24. 1. Male

    2. Traditionally, I've played mostly Scrappers and Tankers, but recently I've been playing more Controllers and villain ATs. I prefer melee, as I like getting in the middle of the battle and doing some damage.

    3. Blueside (low level) for the sunny, more upbeat zones; Redside (high level) for the better missions

    4. FreakOlympics, all 4 Faultline storyarcs, the Wretch storyarc

    5. I like the process of leveling up, earning new powers and abilities, and accomplishing my goals. IOs have added a lot to this, as there's no longer one "best" way to slot any character.

    6. Champions Online and Star Trek Online. I've been playing video games since before Atari came out. I prefer strategy PC games like Sim City, Age of Empires, Railroad Tycoon, etc. I was a HUGE Doom fan back in the day.

    7. 73 months

    8. I have 45 alts, ranging from lvl 13 (a Dom stuck in Praetoria) to 5 lvl 50s (Scrapper, Controller, Corruptor, Tanker, Bane). Average level is 30. I've only deleted about 10 characters over 6 years. I come up with the character concept first, then the powers, so each of my 45 characters is completely unique. I have alts of every type except for Kheldians (no interest whatsoever).

    9. I get into IOs after level 30 for characters. I've gotten more into softcapping and things over the last couple of years. It's added more fun to the game for me. I usually play at +0/x1 until a character proves tough enough to handle more, although I never go really high on any (constantly dying is no fun!). I think +1/x2 on my Bane, +2/x1 on my Stalkers. My Fire/Rad Controller is currently at +0/x3.

    10. Here's an answer to a question you didn't ask: Of my 45 alts, 10 are female. I have a black female, a Hispanic female, and an (American) Indian male. I also have 2 trolls, a werewolf, a couple of robots, a fire lizard, a demon, and some corpses as characters. Some of my characters are heroic, some are well-meaning, some are crazy, some are truly evil, some are creepy, some are "funny villains", and some are just jerks. Variety in this game is great!
  25. Of my 45 alts, about 80% have Fly and 20% have Leaping. My Stone/Stone Tanker TP and TP Foe (in addition to SJ) for controlling the battlefield. I used to have SS on a Scrapper, but the computer I was using at the time couldn't handle the fast framerate updates and would frequently freeze.

Flying is fun! Especially since they just doubled the flight speed.

Back in 2004, I got my Tanker up to level 12 and took Hover. It was so cool that I spent about an hour hovering over Perez Park, just looking around the map in awe. Silly, but its still one of my favorite CoH memories. LOL
