    Blaster Damage

What grandstanding? Look back at your past few posts.
    (edit)
You admit you've delved off topic, fine. No need for personal attacks though.

Would you two knock it off? This is " blaster damage", not "defenders issues and problems"

    Blaster Damage

Can I ask why are blasters solid up to say level 20?

What makes their damage good till then but fall apart later?

The cap is in play then as it is later, so it can't be that can it? Or is it that you don't really keep getting better attacks while the scrapper does?

I don't know for real but could better later attacks be the problem. Hack is much weaker then headsplitter. But you get snipe one of your best damage attacks very early. Maybe what's needed besides mezz defense is better late attacks.

    I don't know just asking.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's not totally the attacks we have, it's the enemies. Status attacks, greater range on the baddies, Status attacks at range, more damaging attacks...all of these combine to make our range and damage nearly moot. Then you add in insults like /fire's lvl 38 power....hot feet.

Hmm...what if Sparky became a targetable pet for electric blasters? That would create 50% damage mitigation and might help them....what about pets for the other sets? Wouldn't be infringing on trollers, because we could only have one out at a time, but would be nice to help survive a lil better.

    [/ QUOTE ]

A variation on this theme come up a LOT and I make a point of emphasizing it every time i notice it. There was a thread "tosses a rock over there" that had a LOT of great ideas on some type of aggro mitigating pet to put into our secondaries, and I think it would be a great thing.
My personal favorite (thinking of /fire here) would be a a flaming effect put down using the same means as Rain of Fire. Once in place, you attack the mob, and they react as if the effect generated the attack. They unleash hell on it instead of you, and you proceed to wipe them out. A couple of seconds in to the fight, they realize that it's you hurting them and refocus on you. Hell, I don't even need it to have any attacks of it's own. Just grab that inital aggro and I'll handle the rest.

theres a few disposable powers in /fire /elec and /ice that could easily be replaced with status protection (hot feet, thunder clap, whatever that PBAOE toggle slow is in ice.) It is harder to find disposable powers in /energy and /devices.

personally I think the blappers would be upset with losing their melee attacks. not everyone plays ranged blasters. Elec/Elcec especially.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They would be. But you missed my point. /fire had mez protection in burn before issue 3 came out. States took it away, saying that it was not supposed to be there (which i personally think meant the power itself ) because blasters were not supposed to have significant mez protection.

Would anyone be up to giving up melee powers for status protection. Maybe nothing as huge as the Melee protection, but something to prevent the occasional mez attack.

I would not mind it, but I know some people love the melee attacks.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I would highly doubt we'll be seing mez protection again . It may have been purged, but in "Blasters and Burn" Statesman tried to explain that we were never menat to have mez protection.

I did forget to add that the ranged attacks of mobs deal less damage (typically) than melee attacks - and the Blaster is generally the target of raned attacks.

    [/ QUOTE ]

However since a blaster cannot stay at range indefinately due to the rooting nature of his attacks you cannot assume that blasters will not be in the same position that scrappers are.

In gameplay blasters are frequently in melee, in the later portions of the game they cannot avoid it as they are mezzed.

So your reasoning behind the blaster and scrapper damage cap seems ludicrous.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've gotta agree here. Even if you ignore the fact that I'm standing still while firing and that many mob types are trying to get closer to me, due to the various ranges on my powers I'm forced to get closer to them in order to maintain full offense (my only reliable defense=dead mobs, real quick). There's roughly 3 different ranges in my primary, and nothing but melee in the secondary (except for ring of fire.)
Except for the start of a fight, I'm in melee or steps away from it all the time. Saying range justifies a lower cap really doesn't wash.
States, we're really hurtin over here, and have been for a long time.

So does that mean Blue King studios (and Rick Dakan) are going to be out of a job?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Isn't Rick still the head writer guy for CoH ?
  9. He hever said that the mobs were his level. What he saw is consistant with him being one level lower.

    Interesting.....

Heh...best "easter egg" type command I've seen was in Earth & Beyond...if you typed /camp, you'd get a system message saying "Insufficient marshmallows to camp"....kind of a dig at EQ, me thinks
  11. YEah, noticed the same thing myself....on a related note, the Coven looks to have an interesting backstory, too (judging from their desc's, anyway) I'm hoping they and the Fir Bolg get to be permanent members of CoH's Rouge's Gallery.
