MMORPGs are the perfect example of being able to please some of the people some of the time, but never being able to please all of the people all of the time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

lol, yeah. I'm not really mad that i'm missing out on double XP. The more i get to play my mains, the happier i am. What made me mad was the notion that this is going to be our compensation for the Global problems.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Anything they picked as compensation would anger someone.

If it were a free respec, people who still have their I7 freespec would be mad.

If it were just the ability to change your global name again, people who have the global they want and don't need to change would feel ripped off.

If it were just another jingle jet temp power, the same people who complained that it was useless to them during the Holiday Event would complain.

So they are between a rock and a hard place no matter what they do here. Double XP has been something other MMOs have done and is something a lot of people have asked for in the two plus years this game has been live.

Looks like someone needs to read the guide before nerf whining.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Speaking of semantics, the use of the word "guide" is quite liberal here. But if the intent is to have your opinion seem to carry more weight, then you're right in line with all the nerf-criers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Don't make me link to the Mudwimping guide.

The forum was done for 4 hours last time someone did that.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
How do you burn someone with nerf fire?
That doesn't even make any sense at all.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, that makes almost as little sense as the way fire tankers used to be able to herd dozens of minions onto themselves and kill them all effortlessly with burn to powerlevel themselves.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
well i cant see what else you would call "nerfing" burn

posi might not remember it but its one of those powers that we "use" to use

since hes not nerfing things..maybe he can tell us when he plans on fixing the power he messed up then?

It's become synonymous with the word 'change' now.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    That's just sad.

    [/ QUOTE ]

My favorite use of the word nerf was the person whining that, because the changes to domination weren't enough for him in I7 on test, they "nerfed" domination.
  7. Also grats to Burning-Nova for getting Special Agent 75 to 50 and completing the Establishment's first pentad.
  8. Grats to Shakhra for getting Cruiser up to level 50!
  9. [ QUOTE ]

Just a word of warning: Sorceror Gladiators were removed pre-beta.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Or not!

Seems like someone got their signals mixed and Sorcerors were just tied to a level 40+ mission badge.

Someone was asking for regular citizens as glads, I noticed. How about the Crazed, from one single mission during the Praetorian arc? Just random, crazy citizens armed with sledgehammers and baseball bats

    [/ QUOTE ]

How about Contaminated from Outbreak, and your opponent can work on his Isolator badge if he missed it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Heh, in CoV Beta I asked Positron for just such a gladiator for that very reason.

Idea was rejected! I also asked for a winter minion gladiator in the same PM, though, and that came to pass.
  11. [ QUOTE ]

As it's clear from the time of Arenas (yeah, how populated are THOSE?) that the overwhelming majority of the player base doesn't care about PVP content

    [/ QUOTE ]

Of course, you say this as Pinnacle has two instances of Recluse's Victory open...
  12. [ QUOTE ]

The patch notes method helps with this but is not the full answer as it does not deal with healing that occurs during the fights and how that affects the percentages of PC vs NPC damage.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [ QUOTE ]
To address this point specifically: That behavior would be a bug. Damage tracked expires as you heal or regenerate. So if you took 99% damage from an NPC, healed it all back, and then took 100% damage from a PC, you would get zero debt.

That was the way it was desinged, and if it's not functioning that way, then it is a bug, and will be fixed.

    [/ QUOTE ]
  13. [ QUOTE ]

We either need a better explanation on this debt system in PvP (beside the boiler plate "if you get hit by an NPC you get debt" response) or a reconsideration of the engine around it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Healing resets it. You won't get debt for damage you healed away
  14. [ QUOTE ]

Granted, I don't give a hoot about badges, but for those that do and have some sense of ethics...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Then accolades aren't for you, I'm afraid.

There's no way you'll get badges like Zookeeper through normal playing to level 50. And if you solo, you'll never get Illusionists or Unveiler or possibly even Banisher by yourself without a team to spawn multiple bosses/LTs.

It's the way it's always been, though. PvP has nothing to do with some skewed badge requirements that have been in the game since issue 2.
  15. [ QUOTE ]

Well, to be fair, the monkey badge is easy now with the lower limit, by hunting a few hours with a full team in Crey's Folly.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Still, Crey's Folley is a hazard zone and, if you go in and try to get it at the assigned level, you will get debt just like in PvP.

So the question becomes is it unfair to villains that they have to get a badge that can be easily obtained by a level 15 villain simply by farming a mission with a team of 8 with only 1 reset at most as compared to heroes needing to kill 1000 monkeys in a hazard zone that they can't enter until level 30+?

If anything, I think this badge is out of balance for heroes. Killing 1000 monkeys is not fun and can easily take you all day. Doing one mission twice to get Man in Black is a walk in the park and you get the accolade by level 40.

    [ QUOTE ]
Just added this patch note to PvP section:

Being defeated in a PvP zone will carry debt if any of the damage to you was caused by NPCs. The amount of debt is directly proportional to the amount of damage you took from NPCs vs. how much was done by opposing Player Characters. The more damage dealt to you by NPCs means more debt when you are defeated.

    * This means that you can no longer “escape debt” by being defeated by a PC after taking massive damage from NPCs, nor will you be penalized with a massive amount of debt if you are defeated by an NPC after taking a huge amount of damage from a PC.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    O...M...G!!!

With all the things this game has wrong with it right now, they worry about this?? I mean seriously, how often did anyone ever intentionally get killed by a PC in order to avoid debt caused by an NPC in a PVP zone? Is this really that prevalent of an issue?

Where's the "pulling my hair out" smiley.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I can't count how many times I've been fighting in a PvP zone against another player only to have an NPC get the kill shot and the kill shot only, resulting in full debt, even if I was damaged 99.9% by a PC.

A lot of people are overreacting to this right now.
  17. [ QUOTE ]

You tell me how it's fair or balanced for villains to HAVE to go to a PvP zone in order to get a power equivalent to that which a hero can get from PvE alone.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Villains can farm that mission in Diable that's nothing BUT Shivans for the badge. And they can do that as early as level 15 if they wanted to.

Compared to heroes having to farm 1000 monkeys to get their Vanguard.

Uh, I think I'll stick with Megalomaniac. I got it at level 40, compared to the waaaay past level 50 I was able to get Vanguard on my hero.
  18. [ QUOTE ]

Farming that one mission instead of going into the PvP zone seems like a fair trade-off, especially if you compare it to the hellish kind of badges heroes need to get such as Illusionist or Banisher.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And before you go "But Taser, we shouldn't have to farm a single mission for a badge for an accolade," I must retort with the fact that people have been farming the all Paragon Protector mission and the last mission in the Wheel of Destruction arc since issue 2 to get those badges.
  19. [ QUOTE ]

Especially since the Megalomaniacal Badge requires you to kill 100 Shivans (Men in Black/Woman in Black Badge). So much for not having to go into a PvP zone if you don't want to.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You do realize there's a whole mission in the 15-20 range that spawns nothing BUT shivans in Diable, right?

Farming that one mission instead of going into the PvP zone seems like a fair trade-off, especially if you compare it to the hellish kind of badges heroes need to get such as Illusionist or Banisher.

Never taken flight as travel power for melee and only once on emp and I hated how slow it was so I got rid of it. I was sure that only hover protected you from KB in that way. Real question is how long would it take to trigger once you landed.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nope, lots of experience in both Siren's Call and during Hami Raids has taught me that, as an elec blaster, it's better to be in the air than on the ground. A quick backflip beats the knockback-kip up animation anyday.

The real question is how close to the ground do you have to be to start it? If it breaks the immob even 2-3 seconds before you actually hit the ground, you are in business. Though even it breaking only when you hit the ground isn't too bad of a penalty thematically for elec brutes.
  21. How would an energy blaster knock you out of the sky if you were flying?

Knockback just sends you backflipping while in flight. You have stun protection, so they can't drop you with Total Focus easily.

Superjump has a slight disadvantage, but you only spend a few seconds in the air with SJ to be vulnerable.

    * Obelisks in the Cathedral of Pain now respawn properly.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think this is the first piece of information we've EVER gotten in the patchnotes about this trial.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
Did you guys get a badge upon completion?

    [/ QUOTE ]

There is a badge made for the trial, though it is not rewarding. I'd keep /bugging it in-game when the trial is back online until we get an official Positron or redname response as to whether the badge has been scrapped or not.

And I'm not going to continue the stupid mixing of words about whether or not IoP trials are content or not. If people don't like PvP, good for them. But to continue to invalidate all PvP content just because they don't want to be part of it? That's a little selfish and unnecessary. I don't like costume contents. So I don't take part in them. But I don't run to the forums screaming about how they aren't content simply because I don't like them.

  25. Just got finished with the Founders Fall mayhem mission.

One major bug: We rescued Silent Blade. She proceeded to run to a Citizen and begin attacking him. I could not pull her off him no matter what I did, even recall friend.
