Tony, is Forbes on your list of media contacts? If not you may want to contact one of the gaming/entertainment contributers over there. Paul Tassi comes to mind and I did enjoy his coverage of the Mass Effect 3 ordeal. I could not find a direct email contact but he does have a blog over on the Forbes site and is on Twitter and Google+.

I had this happen to me earlier as well.
Was grayed-out upon logging into the game and would not change status. I tried zoning and that did not help reset Inner Inspiration. The power immediately reset when I went to the options menu under miscellaneous options and set my power trays to unlocked and then back to locked again. -
Quote:Just like you, I am also not getting a proper response to my support queries about this issue. I keep getting referenced to a knowledge base article which does not solve the actual problem.Sermon;
I have submitted several support tickets and gotten no response, or a response that was clearly inaccurate. I too, have still gotten 0 tokens, despite being sub'd since before Freedom even launched with a long term sub. I shot someone a PM about this. I am not sure that support is really the way to go to get this resolved anymore, since they are clearly dragging feet or just not responding at all. I too was told about this October 28th date, and got nothing on this magical date. Nor did I get anything earlier in the month at all. Yet some how, I get my points (on or near the beginning of each month). Why can I get my points, but not tokens?! I currently have 2 transfers, so it seems that there should be 2 tokens due, like yourself and other friends.
I have played this game since it's first day uninterrupted. I only received 39 reward tokens at launch of Freedom. According to the link on the official website I should have started with 41 tokens at launch since I have 34 veteran badges and have been with the game over 7 uninterrupted years. I should have also received 2 more tokens since launch since I have been billed 2 times since then. We are supposed to get a token every month of subscription. I have received my other rewards properly and have received the 3 server transfers since launch and all of my Paragon store points but the vet tokens were not rewarded properly at launch and are continuing to not be received every month.
Going by the official website I should have received 41 tokens at launch. (http://na.cityofheroes.com/en/commun...ds_details.php)
Going by the knowledge base article the 39 I received at launch would be correct by those calculations but does not explain why 2 billing periods have passed and I have not received any additional tokens.

I think there is a problem with the account related to my vet badges. As I previously mentioned I have 34 vet badges. The very last one is "Radiant" which says that I have earned the badge by earning 34 reward tokens. If you add the 7 years to that it totals to 41. So this means that I have either received 2 vet badges incorrectly (minus tokens) or I have actually earned them and should have received the 2 tokens that go with them. This will probably mean that I will not get my first 2 month's worth of vet tokens since I already have the badges that are supposed to go with them.
The official website and my vet badge text contradicts the knowledge base article which is confusing enough. Even if the knowledge base article is correct there is still a badge issue that is keeping me from getting my first 2 monthly VIP tokens. I am not feeling much like a Vet with the level of support I am currently receiving. I have friends that I have personally referred to this game that have more VIP tokens than I currently have and have been earning them on each of their billing cycles. I am about ready to give up and pull the plug on this subscription since nobody on the support team is either able or willing to provide a solution to my problem.

Code:You enrollment in Paragon Rewards is automatic when City of Heroes Freedom releases. When the Paragon Rewards program begins, Veteran Rewards and subscription time in City of Heroes® convert to Reward Tokens. You earn: 1 Reward Token for every Veteran Rewards badge. 1 Reward Token for every 12 months of subscription. While City of Heroes Freedom is in release, you earn Reward Tokens, too. Earn 1 Reward Token for every month of subscription Earn 1 Reward Token for every 12 months of subscription. Earn 1 Reward Token for every 1,200 Paragon Points (approximately $15) that you purchase through the Paragon Market.

Code:If you have a game account that was created prior to the launch of City of Heroes Freedom, your game account will receive:
- 1 Reward Token for free
- 1 Reward Token if the account was a full retail game account
- 1 Reward Token for every 3 months the game account was active with billing prior to the Freedom launch
- 1 Reward Token for every year the game account was active with billing prior to the Freedom launch
- 1 Reward Token for free for new game accounts
- 1 Reward Token for the first Paragon Points purchase made
- 1 Reward Token for every 1,200 Paragon Points purchased: Bonus points from Paragon Points bundles count toward this total, and the total can come from multiple purchases. So, three purchases of 400 points will earn you 1 Reward Token.
- 1 Reward Token per month subscribed after the launch of Freedom
- 1 Reward Token per year subscribed: Time accumulated prior to the launch of City of Heroes Freedom carries over. If you have 8 months of legacy subscription time and continue to subscribe for 4 months after the City of Heroes Freedom launch, you will earn 1 Reward Token.

Interesting thing is that this feature was slated to be implemented when the game first launched in 2004. I remember reading several previews that mentioned it in some detail...
Gamespot Preview March 01, 2004
"The game will automatically create a Web page for every superhero character you create, and you can use this page to create a profile for your character that lists your own personal interests and those times of the day when you're available to play. This way you can actually seek out and find regular teammates."
I was dissapointed that the feature was never implemented when the game launched, but I guess better late than never -

As a SQL Server DBA, I've always kind of wondered on a professional basis what database backend you use.
I have some idea of what kind of effort this kind of restore takes, although of course I don't know the specifics of what you have to do...
Might I suggest a spot of Database Mirroring?
It's probably some kind of trade secret though so I won't press any further.

Back during CoH beta, Gaffer mentioned that they ran a SQL Server database. I am not certain if this has changed since then. -

The first clue that there were unlockable contacts was when I read about them on the forum.
Since I am trying the play the game through to 40 once without looking at any guides or anything else (although I do test powers on the test server, fool me once and all that) I have found that I have not done one unlockable contact and I am a hair away from level 28. I haven't even done the respec trial yet because no one seems to want to do one. I don't need one but it would be nice to have one banked.
So, as far as my character knows, the unlockable contacts are content that doesn't even exist.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yup, same thing here. Trying to get through the game one time without doing any major research into the content.
I do like the idea of unlockable content. Rewards the group of players who like to explore a bit more. Not everybody is an explorer, so not everyone is going to like the concept, but I think it is good for the game to expand content for all types of players. Not everybody likes PvP either, but it is good to be in the game for those who do enjoy it. If done right, and does not intrude on those who do not want to participate in said content, it makes the game more appealing for all types of players.
I do agree with the sentiment that players should get some small clues to the existence of these contacts. Maybe not outright signal that they are there, but some kind of subtle hint or small puzzle to investigate. Right now, some of them are too hard to find.
Also, missing these contacts should not deprive those who don't care about them major story information either. From what I have heard about them so far, it appears they have good stories, but are not necessary to progress the main story. This should continue to be true. -

You'll also get complete Archetype builds to give you the best build the first time.

Wasn't ED supposed to... you know... stop this kind of thing?
*sigh*
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, if this is what we thought ED was supposed to be about, we would just be kidding ourselves.
Not to turn this into an ED debate thread, but many players will always go towards builds that work best. That is why we post AT specific guides on the forums.
Regardless of system implemented, cookie cutter builds will always exist. We know this and the devs know this. The devs did not design ED to prevent this sort of thing, because it is something that cannot be prevented. ED was designed with a balance motivation in mind. One that reduces a wide variance in values to a much more narrow range of values. This will make balancing efforts much easier for the content they have planned for us (like the end-game content they are currently designing). Such content would have been a joke to balance with the old system.
Is ED the correct solution for the balancing issues? Don't really want to debate that in this thread, but I guess we will see very soon. All I know is that ED was not designed to stop players from gravitating towards the most efficient build that the system will permit. -

CoH Prima Guide
CoV Prima Guide
Sounds really nice. Pre-ordered both of mine via ebgames yesterday.

Did they say when it was coming out? I'd be interested in the COV one but I'm not too keen on pre-ordering. TIA.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just an FYI, I checked my EB order status and the CoV manual shipped today (10/27), so I will be receiving it shortly. The CoH manual has an expected ship date of 10/28 according to EB. Guess I will see about that one tomorrow -

Note: It's very important that you don't get something like this in the contact's mission selection window:
Go Rescue the hostages from the Freakshow!
and then get this once you selected the mission from your contact:
By the way, you'll need help, because you'll be facing Dreck!
[/ QUOTE ]
I got that! Or rather, one like it:
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, this happens quite a bit. I believe some of the early Lost, Hellion, Skull, Clockwork, and Vahz missions do it too. Once you've accepted the mission, you get: "Watch out for the (faction's boss mob) called (tough sounding name). He may be tough."
[/ QUOTE ]
Hehe, yeah, I see this quite a bit too. Don't even know you are going to face a boss until after you have already accepted the mission.
I really love the early Skull missions that you accept and then the contact finally says something like "Oh, by the way, there is this guy named Neck Snapper who has sent many a hero to the hospital. Watch out for him!".
Oh, yeah.... Thanks for warning me before I accepted the mission, lol
