  1. Gaining influence is not hard to do.

I don't play the market for profit. I don't powerlevel. I haven't done any team farming in nearly 4 years. I have somewhere around 7 Billion influence spread over the servers I've played on. That isn't a huge amount when compared to some others, but it seems like enough to put together a few decent builds. I do of course have the bonus of 5 racks full of Set enhancements and a rack nearly full of Purples that I have saved up for when I decide I do want to "spiff up" an alt I enjoy playing.

I got the minor pile of inf and other goodies by playing my 50's alot, selling cheap salvage and recipes that drop at wherever I can get the most for them, and having two alts with all the crafting badges. Drop salvage off at a personal base, look to see what is selling for more than it cost to craft the common IO, grab it from the base and head to RWZ where you can craft and have easy access to the Auction.

I average 3.5-4 million a run while doing an ITF with a level 50. By now most people can run an ITF even with bozo's on the team. Just need to convince everyone to clear to the end instead of skip everything not required.

BTW, not every mission in the AE is a farm, too many are but not all. Running a mission there can get you salvage to use or sell, plus the Inf from running. Win/Win as far as I can see. If you want a challenge, run Training Day by Alty. I can't imagine anyone trying to farm that one.

Personal Info in game shows Positron's Ally, Synapse's Cohort, and Penelope Yin's Friend, but only 2 out of 6 progress toward TFC.
  3. When I ran the Yin TF today I was awarded the correct Badge, but my progress toward Task Force Commander did not change. Am I correct in assuming that is not WAI?

That's insane. A must have power for an AT is now competely useless for those of us who DON'T gank and run, and this is working as intended? Placate working properly isn't too powerful, on either side of the fence.[/QUOTE]

While I agree that Placate can be a useful power, I don't agree that it is a "Must Have", although my opinion is based on PVE. I don't run pvp much. The one Stalker I have with Placate rarely uses it except for the "fun" factor.

I do think it should be fixed though, if for no other reason than to set precedence for fixing things that are broke.

Pretty sure the down time for NA was the same length as for everywhere else, but I am thinking you meant "prime playing time". My shift gets done at 1:00 am Mountain Standard Time here in the USA, which was just prior to shut down. I usually head home, swap into shorts and a T-shirt and play for 2-3 hours, head to bed and sleep until around 11-12:00. That gives me a couple hours to dink around before I head to work again. Guess the projected 12 hour upgrade did affect some of the NA players, since we don't all work the "normal" shift.

I just want to be able to log in and not get mapserved 3-4 times per TF, so if I miss a couple days of playtime, but gain the ability to not leave my teamates a man short during the Rommie/Reichsman/Recluse fight...seems like a small price to pay.
  7. I tried to install the Training Server using the instructions in the Original Post, but I keep getting a message that says:
The name 'C:Program Files (x86)\NCSoft\Launcher\NCSoftLauncher.exe /LaunchGame=CohTest' specified in the Target box is not valid.

Any idea what I have done wrong?

I was typing the ' /LaunchGame=CohTest' inside the quotes, which apparently is supposed to be after the quotes. Now just have to wait for it to finish downloading.
  8. Is there a way to fix the problem? I'm by no means a computer guru, so if there is a way to fix the problem I would need a somewhat step-by-step method.
  9. When I use the Print Screen button, then paste from the clipboard it shows an image from 25-90 minutes earlier in my game session. Frustrating to hit the button on my Male Scrapper finishing off an AV, just to get a screenshot of my Female defender standing around at the end of an ITF.

    Any ideas why that happens?

It's kinda odd, I'm not sure if this is correct, but here's what finally worked. Mat is correct, for some reason a copy of the updater in the new CoHTest directory doesn't quite work. You have to use the original one.

So here's what I did to fix it:

    1. Rename CoHTest to CohTest. This is just easier because the default directory has a lower case "h." No other reason. I didn't even have to recopy any files. You should leave the copy of the live files that you already made in there.

    2. Remove the previous short cut I'd made to CoHTest and replace it with one to "C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\cohupdater.exe". You can do this just by right clicking on the cohupdater.exe file in Explorer and selecting "Send To->Desktop (Create Shortcut)"

    3. Now just edit the new short cut. Right click, pick Properties. Add "<space>-test" on the end of the text in the Target field. The whole thing should now read {{"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\cohupdater.exe" -test}} with out the {{ }} bits, and don't forget the space in between -test and the end of the " stuff.

    4. I also deleted the cohupdater.exe from the CohTest directory before I tried it. Not sure if this is necessary.

Then start up your new CoH Test by double clicking on the new shortcut you just made. Accept the default directory "CohTest" if that's what you named it (like I did), or show it where you copied your files to. It'll do some downloading and some "fixing" but after about five minutes it should be done.
I have ran through theses steps half a dozen times and I always get a message telling me:
The name 'C:\Program Files (x86)\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe -test' specified in the Target box is not valid.

Is there a different way of doing this with Windows 7? I had no problems on my old computer with XP, but I haven't been able to get it to work on the new box.
  11. I asked a Moderator earlier this week to unsilence me. They did but then today I tried to respond to a team forming, and I have been silenced again.

I can't imagine I aggravated anyone in the channel since I have never actually SAID anything in the channel.

What exactly am I missing? Did sombody forget to teach me the secret handshake?

  12. I ran this mission on my slightly IO'd Claw/DA Scrapper and got my butt handed to me several times before finally squeaking by it. Later the same day I ran into it with my Emp/Dark Defender which is only SO's and, while it was a bit touch and go, I didn't die at all. Regen and Recovery Auras combined with a fast recharge on HA did the trick.
