I have seen so many people saying "Changing AE will not fix the problem". Well, I think MOST people will agree that AE has caused a fairly LARGE problem. So WHAT exactly will fix it if not changing something about AE itself?
My list of ideas:
Nerf AE xp to one half normal rate. (IIRC this was going to be the way it originally was anyway, and only "Dev Choice" arcs would get full xp)
Require one level 50 character to access AE.
Move MA buildings out of any zone with a level lower than Steel Canyon/Skyway City.
Require a minimum level of 25 to access AE. (If the one level 50 method is considered too severe...at least then a player will have HOPEFULLY played his way up to SO's)
Increase salvage/recipe drops in the main game vs playing AE.
Provide other benefits to playing Dev created content vs player created content. (Merits, etc) -

I'm sure this topic is all over the forum, but here goes
I'd like to see elemental wings, like a phoenix's firey wings , frozen icicle wings, Dark shadow matter wings, luminous light wings, gargoyle granite like wings, and cloudy wings, and maybe even holographic overlay tech like wings!

I'm all for that! -
Ok, I've been around to my local stores and STILL can't find a physical copy of Architect edition. It's well worth the money (Considering the month of free time + the booster pack is already $25 vs. the $20 for AE Edition) But I also want the actual DISC with all updates up to Issue 14 on it, in case I ever need to reinstall.
If I bought the AE Edition online, do I get a link to download the AE Edition ISO? Is there any other way to acquire the disc than actually finding a physical copy of it being sold? -

I have to agree with Manoa on this (we really have to stop doing this). But, if I had to list "who I believe" are the celebrities of Justice (both past and present) the list would be long and would be as follows in alphabetical order:

Props to this post! (And thanks for mentioning me!) Man, I saw some names in there I've LONG forgotten! Brings back memories! -
Last update, I promise. It WAS my overclock. Backed it off to 3.8 ghz (430 x 9) and game's running fine. Thanks for the help!
-
Well I have to hand it to MrPlaySkool and DoubleHelix...it's probably my overclock. Now with that said....dunno what to do. I BOUGHT the E8400 because I knew it was overclockable to 4.0ghz. (Quite easy to do, to.) So what I'm gonna try first is to tweak with my voltages, because I AM a bit of voltage "newb" so when I originally set up this overclock, I tried to keep the voltages as clock to stock as possible, while still acheiving stability. (Prime95 and Orthos run just fine) I've since done quite a bit more research on voltages, and found that there is quite a bit more I can do with it, so I guess I'll try that first, and then if nothing else works bring down the clock speed a bit.
-
I only notice it when one shotting an enemy. Such as just killing low level thugs in Atlas Park. They'll die so fast the game doesn't make them realize they're dead, lol.
-
Well, I'm NOT sure this is why, but my temps aren't going above 53 degrees celsuis, which is WELL within the safe zone for any hardware, I'm just saying it's worth a try
-
And for another update. Before trying underclocking my cpu, I decided to install Rivatuner again. (Hadn't installed it since my last reformat) The specific purpose of this was to override the driver level fan speed. I set the fan speed to 100%, and stayed in game quite a bit longer. So I'm starting to wonder if this might be a heat issue. I'm not sure about that, since I have an Antec 900 case with quite a few fans in it, but it'll definitely be worth getting a can of air duster and some q-tips and doing some case cleaning and see if that helps.

Tech support just contact me back, had me kill ALL startup items and all non microsoft services that startup. Crash still occured within 5 minutes.
I will check the overclock...but I have to say that if the overclock is what's causing it (My computer can run PCSX2 very impressively at this overclock) I will be highly PISSED. I love that my computer runs at 4 ghz stable, and up until now has run everything I've thrown at it without a hiccup. -
Well after trying everything suggested here (even safe mode, god that was an awful experience) I have submitted a ticket to NCSoft support. I've given them my CoH Helper, Hijack This, and DxDiag logs, and also the log from their Game Advisor software they had me download and run. My ticket has been "escalated" and I'm now waiting for a reply from what I would assume would be a higher level tech. I hope I can get this fixed because I spent 3 years in this game, came back for I14, and would hate to have to cancel again due to a glitch.
-
Yeah I know. I usually trim my startup, just haven't messed with it lately.
Altho if you look at my cohhelper logs you'll see that I was currently running windowed mode maximised, that didn't help either.
I'm getting ready for work right now, but I'll try it later with my startup trimmed up. If that doesn't work then I really don't have any ideas left -
Killed most extra processes. Here's my logs of my computer in it's current state after doing everything.

Diabled audio device from control panel, still crashed. Safe mode I may try....but honestly just trying to play the game at 800x600 makes the game unplayable for me. Checking running processes, most of it is either hardware related software or microsoft/google stuff....

The only thing that jumps out at me is your CPU overclock.
Try knocking it back down to default speeds, although to be truthful, I doubt that's it.
I run an E8400 at that same speed with no issues, but I figured i'd throw it out there.
Have you looked in the various Vista threads?
[/ QUOTE ]
The overclock shown there isn't my actual overclock. I actually have my E8400 running at 4.0ghz (445x9) STABLE.

Almost every single person who has reported frequent crashes lately and could not find a reason for those crashes has had the Realtek HD Audio. I suspect there might be some incompatibility issue here. You might try temporarily disabling it from devices and removing the drivers in order to see if that is what is causing the crashes.
I'm not saying to disable your audio permanently. Just long enough to run the game for a couple hours and see what happens. If you do stop crashing then at least the problem will have been isolated.
[/ QUOTE ]
This might be it! The newest drivers on my mobo's (Gigabyte) website are from back in March....however I just found the newest Realtek HD Audio drivers on Guru3d.com....gonna try them out.
Update: Brand new Realtek HD Audio drivers, still crashes just like before. -
I just resubscribed to the game recently, and as of right now the game is unplayable for me. The game will freeze up (screen lock and looping audio) every 1-20 minutes, usually in less than 5 minutes. I'm running Vista Ultimate 64 bit with an Intel E8400 processor, 9600GT Nvidia card, and onboard audio. I've updated all drivers that are updateable, and also updated my DirectX. I've read on here that downgrading to a pre Phys-X Nvidia driver helps, but I'd rather not have to downgrade a driver just for one program. Here are my logs:

Not that I don't LOVE the character creator....but is there a reason it was plugged practically every other sentence?

I'm sorry, but I don't have any idea what a "meat puppet" is.

Precisely what you suggested: when a person in an internet argument, goes and gets friends who were not previously part of the community the argument is taking part in, to join that community and support that person's side of things, making their opinion seem to have broader, more popular support in general.
[/ QUOTE ]
Exactly. Thank you, Pax.
Theyre not alt accounts? Not even the one that was registered yesterday? Heh. So instead he ran off to another internet community crying for his friends to come save him from the big, bad CoX Forum Bully. Yeah, thats much better than just whining for his Oompa Loompa. I guess he sure showed me!
(And Im still waiting to hear how, exactly, the newly hired developers could be reasonably expected to complete tens of thousands of programming hours of work between December 07 and the announcement of the planned content of i12.)
[/ QUOTE ]
And? My forum reg date is almost a year off from my game reg date. Most people don't register for the forums automatically. I was a lurker for quite some time before I registered, and iirc, I registered because of a thread similar to this where I wanted to make a reply bad enough to go through a registration screen.
Either way.....the simple fact is your in denial that multiple people disagree with you. Get off your high horse. -

Please read all the posts after my last post from Deejaye_6, Almighty_HH, Greeneyedlady, and PlasmaStream....

Oh, I read them. Yup yup yup. Looks like I'm outvoted. Golly gosh-a-rootie!
And now we can play the Sesame Street Game!
"Three of these things belong together...
Three of these things are kinda the same...
But one of these things is not like the others..."

Because multiple people couldn't POSSIBLY have the same opinion.
Narrow minded much?
Btw, I agree with all of them. Bases seriously need some love. They have so much potential, but yet are still stuck with the same stuff almost 6 issues later.
OMG! I must be an alt account too! /sarcasm -
[ QUOTE ]
A task force is a team up of powerful Heroes that comes together to undertake a long series of dangerous assignments, which usually culminates in a battle with one of the citys Arch Villains. Task force missions require a great deal of commitment, and are very risky, but the reward for success is proportionate to the risk.
[/ QUOTE ]
There's the biggest hole in your so-called argument right there. "rewards proportionate to the risk" TF rewards were NEVER proportionate! A SO? Really? Wow! I could buy about 10 million of those. A crap recipe that I'll have to vendor? Yay! Just what I always wanted!
So....WHAT exactly do we get for these HARD TIME CONSUMING YOU BETTER COMMIT AND NOT HAVE A FAMILY EMERGENCY TF'S??? A reward "proportionate" to our efforts?
Tell you what Tony....when we get THAT, maybe anything you've said will have a LITTLE bit of merit. As it is, you're simply coming off as an uncaring buffoon. This is a GAME, and honestly ANYTHING that happens in real life that deserves your immediate attention is more important. PERIOD. -
[ QUOTE ]
no more groups of 3-4 casual players...
[/ QUOTE ]
*sigh...* Task Forces are not "casual" activities. Read the manual for a description of what they're supposed to be.
Or in tl;dr metaphor-speak: If you're having trouble finishing task forces as they were originally designed to work, look for better teammates. Don't ask for exploits to be reintroduced to the game.
[/ QUOTE ]
That is the dumbest thing I have read in this thread.
SOFTLOADING was the exploit. The devs implemented a "blanket fix" to keep people from softloading which REMOVED an important Quality of Life feature! The ability for mobs to scale down to the current level of the team if you lose members. That is NOT an exploit! It is an important QoL feature which the devs have just snubbed their noses at because we should play the game "the way they think is best".
If your on a TF set for 8 and lose 4 people, you are NOW still fighting mobs sets for 8. Is that an exploit? Was it in the manual?
Is it very easy to find 7 other people for a TF such as Dr. Quarterfield, even BEFORE this change? Is that an exploit? Was it in the manual?
If you do find 7 other people, even despite their best intentions, things do happen. A person can't always sit in front of a computer for 8 hours at a time. Even on a weekend. Is that an exploit? Was it in the manual?
I nominate this as one of the worst posts of the year. What you said was just as insensitive as what the devs have said by "this is the way we meant for TF's to be played"
Do you realize that alot of people play this game BECAUSE its very easy to hop in, get something done, and hop out? That is a MAJOR selling point compared to games like WoW where some of the high level raids CAN take all day, and alot of people JUST CAN'T DO THAT. As much as some of us may try to avoid it, or deny it....there is this thing called "Real Life" and sometimes is DOES interfere with our game time. Is that an exploit? It that in the manual?
The devs have snubbed their noses at a large part of their "casual" player base with the change, and you just did too. Do you realize how many people who play this game are parents? People who have multiple kids?
So by what your saying, if your just a "casual" player, or are not 100% sure you can devote the required time block to something, even tho there are rewards for TF's, you should just not even try to do them, right? Leave the TF's for the hardcore players, is that it? Was THAT in the manual? -
Ok, now to reply to Lady, altho Tremere has NO clue what he's talking about. Sigh.
Ok. I think to let people choose the EXACT recipe they want would probably not be to good of a thing (the market would all of a sudden be flooded with LotG's, Numina's, and Miracles) I have a slightly different way to rearrange it.
REMOVE the Single-Origin rewards. They're pointless. Replace them with recipe categories. Melee, Ranged, PBAoE, Dam Res, Def, etc..... So even if you get a recipe that doesn't sell for to much, it's still from a set you can use, hopefully.
And also it keeps things partially random so one recipes value on the market doesn't fluctuate to much, hopefully. -

Lighthouse opened the door to all this by saying:

We want to continue to offer good rewards based on a group accomplishment through such missions and maintaining that requirement is the reason for this change.
[/ QUOTE ]
Which shows that NCNC understands that this change affects rewards, length, and team size requirements.
The point is why don't you?
[/ QUOTE ]
*sigh* My point is, as I've been saying all along, is that its probably already being worked on Internally (and probably even apart of I12)
Just because its not immediate, which is what you want, makes it wrong?!? No, just no. If its in the pipes, then its perfectly acceptable.
Now, with that said.... if by I12 we havent heard of alterations being made to TFs... then trust me, I'll be the first one leading the crusade to have them altered Immediately.
But as it stands this minute.... we have to assume that they are well aware & are already taking steps to address these issues. Thus anything we do, say, etc in this regard are purely suggestions.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have to disagree with this. If they had already thought of this, if they were already planning a reworking of TF's, or a "fix" to the current "fix" why would they have pushed out THIS fix if they knew it needed to be fixed AGAIN? That would be even stupider than what they've already done. -
