Quote:Okay here's something you can do to avoid those Kidnap missions. It's annoying but it gives you a little bit of control over what the random mission generator gives you.Anyway, w/ the stalker, sometimes all three paper missions are "kidnap" ones, so it was hard to avoid. They are a PITA! I wish there was a better way to kidnap, like drug & drag or something.
When you get a bunch of missions you don't like go to the ferry or Pocket D entrance and switch zones then come back. That will get you a new list of missions. Do that as often as you need to to get the paper/radio mission you want.
I know that you'll get a lot of the same missions over and over if you just do paper/radio missions, but the devs never intended for them to be the only thing you do. They are just supposed to be repeatable filler for when you are between contacts or need a few quick XP points to level up. So when we use them in a way not intended we have to put up with some annoyances. -

Oh yeah. You can have as many accounts as you can afford. I've had up to three active at one time, down to 2 now. And there are people here on the forums with as many as 5.
Note: you can't transfer characters between accounts.
Oh and if you are looking at the 17 that Mystic is referring to, you should know that while we get 12 slots per server we can buy 24 more per server.
2 free slots are awarded for applying a Going Rogue serial code.
1 free slot is granted every 12 months of Veteran Rewards
As part of the in-game store, slots can be purchased as follows:- 1 slot for $5.99
- 2 slots for $9.99 (approx. $4.99/slot)
- 5 slots for $19.99 (approx. $3.99/slot)

Thanks everyone for the quick replies and thanks Je_Saist for listing what cards will work in simple terms even a computer illiterate like me can understand.

Thanks for this thread. My video card seems to have gone on the fritz and I'm trying to decide what to do. I have to save up money no matter what but I'm not sure if I should replace my card or just replace the whole 3 year old tower. But looking at new towers I have no clue if their video/graphics cards can handle the game. I mean what the heck is an Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator HD? Or is an ATI Radeon HD 5450 any good? I may be overlooking it on that list in the link provided.
If I replace my current tower I could give it to my parents. It'd be a huge boost over the thing their using. I think it still uses Keypunch Cards to load programs, and I know their printer still types in pencil.
My current system:

First off remember that I19 brought us the new feature that all trains, ferry's, and helicopters go to every stop. So any zone with a train in it will get you to every other zone with a train.
So first pick a favorite zone with a train. Then for the next three pick zones that don't have quick access via train. -
Quote:Don't feel bad about missing things. I'll let you in on a secret. You know that little green button that appears in your nav bar when a mission ends? Well it took me a year to realize I could click on it to exit a mission. Up til then I kept running back to the mission entrance to leave.Ok, thanks, guys, I missed that "Cap au Diable" thing too. Gee some sharp villain, I make! LOL! Yeah, I know supergroups are equivalent to guilds & teams are equivalent to groups or parties.

For easy reference here is the list of trial account restrictions.
Restrictions
- Trial Accounts cannot email other players
- Trial Accounts may not level past 14
- Trial Accounts can only have 50k inf
- Trial Accounts may not join global channels
- Trial Accounts can only speak in
- Trial Accounts cannot invite players to team
- Trial Accounts may join teams, but not invite other players
- Trial Accounts may not join SuperGroups.
- Trial Accounts may not create Mission Architect arcs. They can not interface with the Architect Entertainment Stations. However, they can be invited onto a team that is running MA missions.

If you'll look at your picture it says (11) Beat Wyvern Rep Villain Cap Au Diablo. Your in Port Oakes. You have to go to the Cap Au Diablo zone to do the mission.
Also I don't know if anyone told you. In your screenshot you are at the Base Portal. You have to be a member of an SG in order to use it, and Trial Accounts can't access bases. That's because RMT (Real Money Transfer) companies were joining SG's on trial accounts and robbing super group storage bins. -
That white circle with the red X is a waypoint you set yourself outside the containment forcefield. Probably by accident. You can clear it by going under options on the lower right corner of your map and turning off the waypoint.
The drop points don't appear on your map. You have to search for them. They will have a pulsing glow and a pulsing sound that you can see and hear as you get closer to them.
Now I haven't done this mission in a long while but once you get find and click three of the drop points a white star should appear on your map showing you where the last one is.
Having the last objective appear is a relatively new feature to the game. because sometimes (rare occasions) bugs happen where an objective or mob accidentally spawned inside a wall or building where players can't get to. And most times it points out a spot where the player simply forgot to look. -

Yeah, actually someone did.
Quote:I don't see the reason for all the arguing. You either agree or disagree there's an issue to be solved then try and collaborate what could be a solution.
Options that are implemented without considering the negative impacts they have on the game actually make the game worse.Quote:Several times I suggested the OPTION of applying a buff different ways. Options do not make things worse since you can continue to play the way you wish.
Bad example to use because the game was designed and balanced around using SO's. They weren't an option that was added to the game to give players more choices. IO's were the option that was added.Quote:Some people actually use SOs still for example.
Your current half finished idea if implemented would be more like the Mission Architect or PvP features in this game. It sounds great in theory but doesn't work as it was intended and ends up making the devs spend more time trying to fix it to make it work right.
So you want to give players the choice between being an asset to the team, and being a useless buffbot that has to rely on everyone else to defend and defeat his enemies. I'm sorry but that doesn't sound like it would be fun to play.Quote:Which IF that suggestion were implemented, gameplay could compensate. For example, I wouldn't likely want to Nuke if I were supporting buffs.
People currently get kicked or harassed over asking not to be buffed.Quote:More importantly, I've rarely every played with people who are so anal about buffs though. You portray a team as being so dependant on them that you'd get kicked for not applying them properly?
The last time someone yelled too much for not having "their buff" they were the ones kicked from the team. Are people really so uptight?
People currently kick players from teams because they aren't using their powers the way the leader wants them to.
People currently give people grief over what enhancements they have slotted in their powers.
People currently spend their time lecturing other players how stupid they are because of the powers they have or have not chosen.
People currently get kicked over roleplaying in an MMORPG.
We could sit here and give you a dozen more examples that show that yes the players are that uptight. -
Here.
Quote:Im sorry to say but the cancellation puts the brakes on whatever progress the SGA movie had made in the past month, shelving it indefinitely, he said. Contrary to what some may think, the cancellation of SGU is very bad news for those looking forward to an Atlantis movie.
To me that sounds like he's implying that if SyFy hadn't cancelled the show the SGA movie wouldn't be shelved indefinitely. -
-
So it's SyFy's fault that MGM had to declare bankruptcy in November and doesn't have enough money to spend on the stargate franchise?
Sorry not buying that logic. -
Exactly. That's why people are mentioning these things, because the OP didn't think of them when he made his suggestion. Now that he is aware of them he can reconsider his idea and see if there is a way to adjust his suggestion so that it addresses everything that has been brought to his attention. Doing so will make his idea more solid and feasible.

Quote:For most archetypes it's just a standard beginning power, however for brutes its fast recharge helps power their Fury. Throw it on auto attack and charge into combat. As a Brute engages in combat, it unleashes his Fury. The longer he remains in combat, attacking and being attacked, the more damage he deals. A Brute's Fury level is shown by an orange bar between Endurance and Experience Points. It rises each time he makes an attack or is attacked himself (regardless of hit or miss). The speed at which it rises is directly proportional to the recklessness of the Brute. Also, another thing I find annoying is the basic attack skill known as "Brawl". Does that even get better w/ time & training? It does not seem to do much damage.
I believe you press control c and then click brawl with your mouse and a green circle will appear around the power to show you it's set to autofire.
You can only have one power set that way at a time.
Note: It's a bad idea to set a buff power (like Healing Aura for example) on autofire. It's called 'Rockin the Aura' and it's generally seen as a sign of a bad or lazy player. -
Oh and I hope everyone is having fun during this Winter event. My video/graphics card went on the fritz the day it started, and I can't play til I get it fixed.
-
Quote:You're right a lot of them are, but I've been surprised by some that I knew from their playing other powersets and they didn't act the same way they did when they switched to their Kinetic. You could almost say it was a Jeckyll and Hyde kind of switch.Don't kid yourself, Forbin. I'm pretty sure those people are a**holes no matter what character they are playing.
-
No. Unwanted buffs can be applied deliberately or accidentally.
Sure it is. Currently buffs wear off in a couple of minutes, and players are likely to tolerate an accidental buff. If the buff is persistant some players will be more likely to quit teams or kick the buffer rather than putting up with the frustration that the buff causes them.Quote:I can see how it relates to the issue at hand but it isn't introduced or exacerbated by trying to push for this QoL improvement.
Then there's that whole discriminating against certain powersets I mentioned earlier which currently goes on in the game. -
Sammy was a Tow on the east side of Europe
Not in the U.S.A. In a land very far away
In the chill of a winter night
In the land of the dollar bill
When the forums of CoH died
And they talk about it still
When a man named Samuel_Tow
Tried to make that forum his own
And he called his OP's to war
With the moderators who were law
I heard my post cry
I heard it pray the night forums died
Brother what a night it really was
Brother what a fight it really was
Glory be!
I heard my post cry
I heard it pray the night forums died
Brother what a night the people saw
Brother what a fight the people saw
Yes indeed!
And the sound of the battle rang
Through the pages of the old east side
'Til the last of the forum's gang
Had surrendered up or died
There was shouting in the street
And the sound of running feet
And I asked someone who said
"'Bout a hundred threads are dead!"
I heard my post cry
I heard it pray the night forums died
Brother what a night it really was
Brother what a fight it really was
Glory be!
I heard my post cry
I heard it pray the night forums died
Brother what a night the people saw
Brother what a fight the people saw
Yes indeed!
And there was no sound at all
But the clock upon the wall
Then the door burst open wide
And then Sammy stepped inside
And he saved my post's place
And he brushed the flames away
The night the forums died
Na-na na, na-na-na, na-na-na-na-na
The night the forums died
Brother what a night the people saw
Brother what a fight the people saw
Yes indeed!
The night the forums died
Na-na na, na-na-na, na-na-na-na-na
The night the forums died
Brother what a night it really was
Brother what a fight it really was
Glory be!
The night the forums died
Na-na na, na-na-na, na-na-na-na-na
The night the forums died
Brother what a night the people saw
Brother what a fight the people saw
Yes indeed! -
The only reason I would prefer an automatic block to clicking and dropping is because I've both seen and been the recipient of individuals that get a perverse kick out of following people around and spamming buffs.
Now I know we can petition such behaviour, but I find myself asking why leave them with a tool that can be abused? Much like how the red flag blocks people from spamming invites, and the friends list email block prevents RMT spam.
In a perfect world I imagine we'd be able to type /buff and a pop up window similar to /hide would appear and we'd be able to select which buffs we don't want to accept.
I know I'm a hopeless dreamer.
-
IMO being able to block unwanted buffs would eliminate a lot of the objections to constant buffs. People can just say "Do what you want, I've got mine turned off."
