Check the timestamp on your CoH folder. I've seen cases where a crash somehow manages to corrupt this, and CoH doesn't seem to like being in a folder with a corrupt timestamp.

If it's not something sensible, make a new folder and copy everything in your CoH one over; then delete the old folder and remake it and copy everything back.

Yes, I'm back.

But not for the reasons you might think!

I'm not back because I miss the game.
I'm not back because of the Going Rogue announcement (which I knew was coming anyway and mentioned it several times way before the announcement).
I'm not even back because my opinion of Posi's PR abilities has changed (which it hasn't!).

So why am I back?

Because I miss you lot!

I miss the community and I miss posting on the forums; but most of all, I just... miss all you guys!

It's all a bit sad and pathetic really, but there ya go. I'm addicted to the forum.

So I'm back, and better than ever! Mainly cause I refuse to let this game get me stressed out anymore the way it was last month. These last few weeks off have given me time to unwind and realise that CoH really IS just a game after all, and there's no point in getting worked up over it. From now on, any future gormlessness on the part of Posi and is "Global Announcements" will just get shrugged off.

So, I eagerly await the fully expected flak from certain folks, and of course's GG's totally predictable "I knew you'd be back " blather.

Bridger, for all his seeming competence as a mod, wasn't exactly the best when it came to disruptive members. He allowed a complete jerk to stay on the forums, flinging some of the most vicious bile and hatred ever seen on these forums, and who didn't even get a ban after physically threatening several forum members with assault.

That guy SHOULD have been thrown out, but the only thing that ever happened (I asked B this in person at a player meet), was that B phoned him and discussed the issue, he promised to stop, and then kept on doing it before eventually quitting under his own steam.

In some areas men can end up in an argument (often started between the women folk ) the moment the line of personal space is crossed that's when it happens and it is somewhat out of personal self defense.

Some Martial Artists would consider their threat zone with another Martial Artist to be somewhere in the region of 9ft away. It's just in some areas normal.

In work places before all the PC stuff came in, it wasn't uncommon for 2 men to go out back, sort out their differences and come back in and forget about it.

Totally unlike some people in some areas where an on going he said, she said, constant b***hing goes on and people have some stupid thing called a frenemy.

As to what can be done to save the game? Well... I don't think the game itself actually NEEDS saving, tbh. My issues with it are primarily out of familiarity breeding contempt, if I'm totally honest with myself.

I think that all it REALLY needs is a new coat of paint (updated game engine), and the devs being given a kick up the backside. Competition is coming, and I'm sorry Posi, but they really really DON'T need to compete with CoH. They have shiny and newness on their side, and that's going to beat an ancient engine and repetitive missions any time.

Just taken a final wander around Villains and, y'know, I couldn't find any trace of farmers spamming broadcast in any of the zones I visited. Where are they hanging out?
