  1. Hi folks! Flarstux here, with a handful of screenies that I hope that I feel best illustrate the team experience in this wonderful game of ours!

    1. The team really gives those... um... bad guys a major kicking of booty!

    2. My Strong and Pretty Brute and his pals clobber some... bad guys!

    3. Yeah!

    4. A Day without Oranbega is like a day without... stuff!

    5. This was obviously a trap set for that guy with the green ring thingee!

And now, for contrast, a screenie of solo action. Yawn. I mean, Hawt!

The Trials are like the Force - they'll be with us, always
As long as they keep adding other stuff, too - like new power sets, more customization, updated/new zones, new story arcs - that's fine with me.

Really, really, really want that Smiley Blast set!

    - Owie! (rapid fire single target blast, stings a little)
    - Oof! (intrepid damage, def debuff)
    - Durr! (vibrant damage single target blast, chance for stun)
    - Gah! (offset damage, stun)
    - Woa! (cone attack, way cool damage)
    - Poke in the Eye! (long range snipe attack, ostentatious damage, tohit debuff)
    - Slap in the Face! (PBAOE - spin and slap everyone in range with wet smiley, embarrassing damage)
    - Lol, wut? (AoE confuse)
    - Knock knock! Who's there? Ka! 'Ka' who? Ka-BOOM! (PBAOE, great googley moogley damage)

The most telling question has yet to be asked: do you wear your formal - or casual - costume while engaging in these 'raids'?

I don't understand how he's still finding work in the comic book industry. Granted, he's a better artist than me. Then again, so is my cat, Mr. Boo.

Not familiar with Scott Lobdell's work, although I seem to remember seeing his name in an X-men comic right before I stopped buying anything X, which would have been in the early 90s, I think...

Anyway, what's he done that's bad?

Well, I don't know if it's true, but I keep hearing rumors that Peter Jackson is interested in directing a Supperman movie, and he wants to cast TWO actors in the starring role: David Hyde Pierce as Supperman, and Chuck Norris as Supperman's rough and tumble auto mechanic secret identity, Roscoe Smith.

It could work, I guess, but IMO they look too much alike and movie-goers who aren't familiar with the comic books might be confused by the retractable beard.

There's always retrograde amnesia. True, the stories might still be out there, sealed in archival quality crystal clear polypropylene bags in some comic shop, but you won't remember them, and, not remembering them, you won't love them anymore. They will have been, in essence, taken away.

destruction of Galaxy City, and also simply remove Atlas Park from the game entirely.

Statesman: "The devastation in Galaxy City is heartbreaking, but we can - we will! - rebuild. Right after we take care of Dark Astoria. Atlas Park, on the other hand, is just... gone. That entire section of the city... vaporized. There's not even any debris. Just a big hole in the ground."

Manticore: "Future site of the Atlas Park Reservoir!"

Captain Outhouse: "Galaxy City? Is that near where Atlas Park used to be?"

There ya go, devs! Destroying a second rate zone the name of which even Golden Girl can't be bothered to spell correctly is about as big an event as, well, Statesman buying a pair of blue socks.

You want to make a big splash - or big crater, as it were - and show the players and the MMO world at large you guys mean business with this Coming Storm thing - take out Atlas Park!

It's the performance and the persona that matter, not the minute details. Black Kingpin, two different actors playing Rhodey, David Banner instead of Bruce Banner. It's all about the impression that the audience takes home. The wow factor.

If you want to nitpick you might as well complain that Arnold's Conan didn't have skin that was burned dark bronze by the time he spent in the desert. That Thulsa Doom wasn't a black man and should have had a skull like face.

If you choose to reject the Conan movie before it ever comes out just because of the color of his eyes then you might want to consider suing the Simpson writers because they probably based Comic Book Guy on you.
!. You seem to be taking this far more seriously than I am. In fact, you seem almost offended. Why? And why did you feel it was necessary to insult and belittle me? That's not very nice of you.

    2. Thulsa Doom was King Kull's enemy, not Conan's. Pesky details.
  15. Why can't they just leave Galaxy City alone and put the big brouhaha in a whole new zone somewhere in the gaps between the existing zones? And if they simply MUST destroy an existing zone for dramatic effect, well, destroying Galaxy City is pretty meh. Why not go for the gusto and wipe out Atlas Park?

Well, gosh, if I was wouldn't I be disappointed!

Conan's creator specifically states that Conan's eyes are blue and that his hair is black (and square-cut). If the movie guys can't even be bothered to get that much right...

It's like someone making a Tarzan movie and neglecting to put the scar on Tarzan's forehead.

Or making an X-men movie in which Wolverine towers over Storm.

    Movie guys... /e shake_head

Many people don't even play CoH. Many more have never even heard of CoH. It seems likely, however, that they aren't the ones answering the questions on the CoH Facebook page.

Something based on the written word is never going to match your imagination's picture perfectly, so this stubborn refusal to roll with things just seems... nutty. It makes some rabid fans of comics and their movies look tame by comparison.

From the pictures I have seen made of Conan, Momoa doesn't look all that off from him, and certainly seems closer than Arnold ever did. And in the end, that doesn't matter all that much as long as they got the character and story right.
Blue eyes. 'Volcanic blue'. Not brown. Just sayin'.

The AT I most enjoy playing is the Tanker.

Solid. Strong. Always in the line of fire, a living shield. Able to take whatever the bad guys dish out - and laugh about it. Not afraid to look, for example, Lord Recluse in the eye and say, "Your mom called - she found a vintage Carnival of Shadows Barbie on eBay and wanted to know if you already have one in your collection."
  22. Hmm, getting some pretty heavy rubber-banding this morning, along with chat windows (as when training) that are slow to close.
  23. Here's hoping this patch includes the new Turkey Assault set for Doms! Drumstick Bash, Basting Blast, Stuffing Burst - great powers all - and the best Tier 9 power of all time, Thanksgiving Turkey Drop! I hope we can customize the color of the helicopter that drops the turkeys.

Was just in Dark Astoria the other day getting the exploration badges on a new character - the newer ones the first time on any character - and once again was struck by how amazing that place is.

So, sarcasm... and a not quite dead yet wish that someday, *someday*, the devs will turn their attention to this lost and lonely corner of Paragon City and work some long-awaited dev-ine magic.

Hmm, maybe if someone did a really cool Dark Astoria video...
