    ...Is she cute?

Hmmm... I've been working for days on a piece of artwork based on CoH, and now that i see that noone has won since October i'm wondering whether its worth the bother.. its eating into my gaming time something rotten !!! Any word from the Devs would be welcome.. is it worth finishing it or wont there be any new winners announced ????

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd definately say it's still worth it. You've spent a lot of time creating it, and if the Creative Genius contest has finished, it's not like you won't get anything out of it. You'll have the satisfaction that it's done, and we'll be able to look at it. From a personal perspective, I've done four songs - one was to win the Creative Genius contest, but the others were because I like singing, and CoH gives me a vast number of ideas to write from.

Finish your artwork, but not for the competition. Do it for yourself, and so we can heap praise onto you.
  3. Hmm. To alter my song...or add to it.

Regular music/Fighting music: Battle Without Honor Or Humanity (otherwise known as the Kill Bill fight music) / My Ballz, D12 Feat. Eminem
Flying Music: City Of Blinding Lights, by U2
(OOC) "ARGH! Blind Invite" Music: Too Tired, by Gary Moore
  4. Well, I hadn't considered entering it, but...okay.

    Ah hahaha very good

You got the lyrics just right there

    [/ QUOTE ]

I actually had the first two verses all planned out and recorded a few weeks ago, but I was stumped for the third. Sadly, my old friend Stella Artois stepped in and helped me with the third. Eventually, I'll go back, listen to what I said, and write it down for the lyric sheet. As it stands, I have NO idea.
  6. The Chiaroscuro Temple is recruiting...pretty much all the time. We're a fairly small SG with players ranging from 'hardcore' to 'plays once in a while'...we're pretty easy going, and don't make demands that people HAVE to play at any set time or date. We do ask that you play in SG mode, but that's only courtesy.

In return for earning us Prestige, we offer assistance to all levels of players, whether you're a level one, first character player, or a hardened L50 Warshade. Everybody needs assistance at some point, whether it's back-up, a healer on the team, or a full Task Force. Another thing we ask is that, if you find yourself in a position to help someone else out, you do it.

Contacts can be made via myself (Fire Guardian) usually spotted in The Hollows, Atlas City, or the PDP. Send a global chat message, or PM me on here.

Sorry to be pedantic but I am pretty sure the correct plural of genius is genii. It is a latin root.

    [/ QUOTE ]

However, anyone who watches QI will be able to tell you that, whilst Octopus is also from a Latin root, the plural form is Octopusses. And be as pedantic as you want. Stephen Fry has spoken.
  8. Finally, all three of my tribute songs are complete, and ready for downloading at your leisure.

Underneath each link is a second link, which contains the song lyrics, as well as notes about each of the song. Enjoy.

  9. Been there, done that. I've had plays and songs written by me performed for a few years, now, and I couldn't stand it. When it comes to plays, I write every character as if I'd want to play it - stops the Mary Sue Effect, as I call it, of one sole character getting the best lines and being some all knowing, helpful character with no faults. However, the flip side is, I tend to have the belief that I can play a character better than the actor (or actress) performing the role, which leads to tension. I'm a very hands on scriptwriter/director, and I find that it can get irritating for my cast to work under me. So, I vent with little songs like that one.

The biggest piece I did, actually, was a Karaoke Musical, which was a good laugh. Immature, nonsensical stuff, but to this day, it remains one of my top three favourite pieces I've written.

...Incidentally, if anyone is curious as to see what I get up to when I'm not on here, or playing, or slaving away at a certain toy shop (Not mentioning any names, but it's a Magical Place...heh) Here's a little hint:
Tum de dum... (18.2 meg WMV. You've been warned)
That should probably go in the "what do you look like" thread, but what the hell. One thread started by me is as good as any other.
  10. Heh. This -is- my day job. Sorta. I co-own a theatre company, and I have to write stuff for it all the time. I -do- work part-time at a local retailers....big toy shop.
  11. Part Two of the Amazing CoH Song Trilogy.
(Yeah, I've decided there are going to be three, if I can make a new one. I've got an idea)

With apologies to Donny Hathaway and Michael Buble...

    An Internet Love Song
    By The Fire Guardian

    I been so many places
    since I bought this game
    I died so many times
    I'm feeling lots of shame

But my debt, it just don't matter
When you come onto the server
    Cause when we're playing
My thoughts are just of you

When I get knocked down, you pick me up
You give me a health boost, and say it is a must
You make me feel so wanted
But now my love feels shunted
    Cause we're alone now
And you told me you're a dude.

I thought that you were female
    That's what your player suggests
    With those legs
    And the big breasts
But now I find you Roleplay
    And you aren't even [censored]
    You were messing with me
    What am I to do?

I made up my toon, to complement your tank
    We played through a mission
You said your name was Frank.
    Woah
You say you have a girlfriend
Who plays here as your boyfriend?
    Damn that's just confusing
    I do not understand.
    We're finished, man, we're over
If you see me play, don't bother
You got me hot and flustered
Now I'll finish it with my hand.
  12. A weird idea popped into my head whilst listening to a Michael Buble CD a few minutes ago, and I started jotting down song notes. I've got almost an entire song down, except for a few lines.

I want to keep this under wraps for now, so if anyone feels they can help shift around some ideas, please PM me.

    ---

Edit: Actually, I think I have an ending, which improves on the original, as it doesn't mention Jack Thompson. It does, however, require the song to be rated "M" for adult content.
  13. I'm up for it. I'm a 24 year old who has never, in his entire life, Roleplayed before installing CoH on my computer (assuming that playing Hero Quest for a few weeks on Sundays doesn't count. Besides, I was 12. If that) So I think I can, if wanted, successfully cover the angle of 'The new guy breaking into the scene', and chat about how great everyone's been, how nice and helpful, and how handsome that Bridger fellow is...
  14. I'm in for Thursday and Friday. I have Fri and Sat off work, so I'll definately be up to play.

It is a huge honour to be able to host Commander Beet's song.

This is an original track, and, seriously. It kicks!

im just getting it onto my computer now, but please tell me, how did you get it onto the internet? ive done a song which is CoH based aswell but i have not found anything that i can use to put it onto the internet

    [/ QUOTE ]

In what regards? The entire process runs thusly:

To create the actual song, I took three cans of Stella and a lot of time listening to the original song. Then I downloaded the instrumental track from IRC (by which, of course, I mean, checked the copyright laws and used the one I already own. Heheheh. )

I then used Nero Wave Editor to sing the vocal track whilst Media Player played the instrumental music. If you listen very carefully at the beginning of that WMA, you can hear me say something unintelligable. It's actually a cut off version of me saying "now", because I need to align the instrumental and the vocal tracks, and a starting point cuts out a LOT of time trying to find the right place.

I then use a program called Mixmeister to do the aforementioned aligning, adding a slight reverberation to the vocal track (Of -13.400 Db, if anyone's interested), and manually level the vocal track, so it sounds a little more professional than 'some dude singing over a track' then, once I'm entirely happy with the finished product, save it, and upload it to my webspace using Windows Explorer, since FTP programs and me....really don't work well. The entire process, from the original concept to the saving of the WMA, can take anywhere from 2-7 hours. I got lucky, as this particular song only took about five.

    I was incredibly bored.

If you need any help with any part of this, or you'd simply like me to host your song on my webspace, I'd be more than happy to. Send me a PM on the forums (which I check at least twice a day) and we'll chat.

    Wasn't expecting to hear that.

If it makes you feel any better, I can try to rap the next one.

Dude, you've got a hot voice.

    Woo hoo!

Okay, because I didn't realise what a great response I'd get from you guys, and because I didn't like the way the first one came out, I re-recorded the song, which can now be found at the link below.

Please note that the first URL is no longer valid, to save on my webspace.

  20. Xanth, I'd be honoured if you would.

Whether I win the Creative Genius whatjamacallit or not, I'm overjoyed with the response that WTFT has gotten. Thanks everyone.
  21. Well, here's my entry, and I figured I'd both play to my strengths and do something a little different. If you click the link below, you'll hear it. That's right....hear it.
