THIS is why I shouldn't post when sick and on cold meds! You're correct, it's today, not tomorrow. My new Posi tf run should still be safe for Wednesday. :^)
-
Ouch-they decided to start this an hour after my weekly tf event. And I was going to run the new Posi tf with people!
Well, I'll see what it is, see if it's worth canceling the tf for. We'll see. -
Well, I wasn't sure what we wanted to run last night-so we managed to get a PUG Sister Psyche tf going. We start up right about 1915 CST, so we even managed to get it together without too much delay! IIRC, there were 6 of us. 3 controllers, 2 scraps, and a blaster.
Having 2 illusion controllers (and 1 earth/storm) made it fast and fun. We completed in 1h33m, with only a few deaths (a couple of us got careless when it became obvious that lockdowns were the shizznit).
As to next week, I'm sort of expecting that i17 will drop on Tuesday. I could be wrong, of course! If it does, however, I want to run the new Posi tf at 7 pm, next Wednesday, 4/28/10. If it doesn't, we'll band together and run....something else. We'll figure it out then, based on how many peeps we have.
Carry on, people! -
I also need nukes...I decided to drop them on an unsuspecting MM in RV just for sheets and geegles.
Sad thing was that I didn't realize the MM wasn't there, and it was just his pets trying to catch up to him. -
i17 went to open beta this Wednesday, so our showing was interesting. Oddly, while I thought few people would want to run a Katie tf, a bunch of relative unknowns on TW came out and we had a fast and fun time.
I'm trying to think what we should do next week...think we might just wing it next week, see who shows up and what we can do. Unless someone wants to suggest something? -
Tl;dr version? Katie Hannon next Wednesday, 4/14/10, 7 pm Central, with possibly a Reichsmann tf right afterwards (depending on time).
Now then, on to our story. Well, right at 7 pm Central, it was looking like it was only going to be me and MikeyD for Manti. Magenta suddenly appeared, but we had decided to jump onto a Sister tf that was forming. Hilarity ensued...
We seemed to have enough to run 2 5 man groups, so Mikey and I jumped off our 8 man team to reform a 5 man group. But we only had 4! Then, we realized that Kay Parfait wasn't there, and couldn't be for about 3-45 minutes. Mikey couldn't wait (baby mama aggro has been HIGH in his household lately), so we tried to quickly figure out what we could do, quickly.
We decided on a Hess tf...then, we could only get 5 people together. In a very odd turn of events, The Ocho showed up and offered to help us get our tf going! I'm serious-I can't make this stuff up! :^)
Of course, just as we get extra-special treatment from a Mod going WELL out of his way to help, suddenly 3 more people come out of the woodwork, and our tf is a go!
It went swimmingly, and we all had a fast and fun time. Could've been a little heavier on the killing, but some people were a bit short on time, so we just went with it.
SO THEN: Next week, even though it's a very short tf, I'm thinking we do a Katie Hannon. I have an Earth/Storm controller that's been itching to lock-up some witches in stone, or blow them out of the air. I also kind of want the badge and the hat. If it goes really well, we could always follow it up immediately with a Reichsmann tf. So come on out, next Wednesday, 4/14/10, 7 pm Central! -
Okay, so my new rig is pretty cool (no pun intended). It seems like the case is VERY well ventilated, with top, side, and back fans to go along with the CPU heatsink/fan, and the PS fan. The sides/top are mesh grill.
The MoBo came with a nifty little utility that lets you monitor CPU and System temps. The weather has just gotten warmer here, but not quite warm enough yet for me to turn on my central A/C.
Tonight, my system was running a steady 40 deg C on the CPU and 47 deg C on the system itself. This is about 8-10 deg C higher than it HAS been running, but I attribute it to simply the change in the overall environmental temperature.
So what's too hot for a system? Am I cooking things? Should I run an actual external fan to just move the air volume around the case better, or is it time to go ahead and fire up the A/C? Thoughts? Thanks! -
Shameless bump:
KILL EVERYTHING, MEGA-DAMAGE MANTICORE TF, TOMORROW (WEDNESDAY, 4/7/10) AT 7 PM CENTRAL!!!!!
That is all. As you were. ;^) -
Sadly, I have a work obligation until 1400 Central time that day...so I can't make it. Wish I could, it's going to be a lot more fun than a pre-medical advisor's meeting that lasts 6 hours!
-
Yay us, wewt wewt, we did it!
Well, sort of. Our first attempt met with Epic Phail. Poor Ultratroll just could NOT stay alive, we took forever to figure out how to attack the tentacles and live, and we ended up quitting with 18 mins left to reform and give it another go.
On the 2nd go around, however, we changed up the team makeup a bit, picked up an 8th person, and generally did MUCH better. I want to thank the original people for hanging in there, and the second team addition people for helping make that run so much more successful.
On to littler and easier things-we've been bashing our heads in a bit the last few weeks...2 part Doc Q's, Sewer Trials, Eden Trials, Cavern Trials. Next Wednesday, 4/7/10, I propose we do a MEGADAMAGE MANTICORE.
What's a megadamage manticore, you ask? Easy. You are only allowed to bring a damage dealer. Basically, anything that kills...everything. Might be a fire/kin, might be a spines/wp scrap, might be a fire/fire blaster. We are looking to get sheer damage overkill in every conceivable way. We don't need no steenkin' support, hombre! I think it could be fun, and a good stress reliever over the last couple of weeks' tougher hauls. So come on out and KILL EVERYTHING! -
Shameless bump-still doing this tonight, we'll attempt to use Vent to coordinate the activities at each of the shield generators.
So, c'mon out and have some fun smacking aliens and transdimensional blobs! 7 pm Central time! -
I agree on the coordination thing for the Sewer Trial. I goofed on coordination of the Cavern Trial, but we could overcome it and still get through it. Not sure we could do the same on the Sewer one.
I'm up for trying to use Vent-I'm generally not good at comms while gaming, but I'd be willing to give it a go. Might just need everyone to be a little patient with me at the start while we get it up and going.
But I think it could be fun-I've been reading the Wiki on it to refresh my memory of the correct tactics to use. Sounds like a team of 8 is really pretty necessary, as well as some strong damage dealers to take the shield generators down quickly in unison. I can provide a damage dealer, and I bet MikeyD can, too. A couple of support toons that can port/rez would probably be useful, if anyone has them.
So holler out if you can be there, and what you plan on bringing to the paaaaaaar-tay! :^) -
So we had a pretty straightforward Eden trial. It went nice and smooth-so smooth, that we decided to run a Cavern Trial afterwards.
Uh, here's where I showed my inner doofus.
First, I managed to exclude Magenta from the team. I truly, truly didn't mean to-I get all sorts of confuzzled in this game with globals vs. individual toon names. That, and trying to handle text chat messages while I was also on Skype, and I just plain blew it. I'm really, really, REALLY sorry, Magenta!
Then, while we were on the trial, I managed to forget that the batches of guys respawn. We were happily killing away, killing killing killing, when someone mentions "Oh, they're probably going to respawn." I kind of went 'buh? They respawn?' </e facepalm>
So, we rallied, finished it up without TOO much difficulty. Our only problem was poor Maya Redhand's character-she took the brunt a few times down one hallway, and died valiantly. But we did finish.
So then-next Wednesday....what should we run? I'm thinking we go for the Sewer Trial to see if we can hack it. I'll check on the wiki to see if a 50 can start it, though-I didn't realize until yesterday that there was a bug with that for the Eden trial. Anyway, why don't we plan on a Sewer Trial next Wednesday, 3/31/10, at 7 pm Central. C'mon out and watch me be a doofus! :^) -
Shameless bump-still planning on running the Eden trial tonight at 7 pm Central time. Hope to see y'all out there!
-
Next Wednesday, 3/24/10, Eden Trial (not SpeEden, just having fun and taking it as it goes). 7 pm Central time, be there or...well, or don't be there, but you'll miss out on some fun. :^)
-
We managed to complete the Doc Q-ready for it? Wait for it...
In 99h59m59s! Wewt for us! :^)
We hit a couple of hiccups in the 2nd half. Our 2 fire/kins weren't around (although one of them did come back for the last 1/4 of it, which was very helpful), and 1 scrapper (my buddy Mikey from Philly) was out due to his girl needing to go to the ER. Nothing TOO serious, just something managed to get in her eye (insert crass joke here) and she had to go get it looked at.
So, for about half of the 2nd half, we were a 5 man group with zero support and not much damage, attempting to hit groups of Rularuu and Nemesis that were set for 8. Eep!
But hey, we got it done-then a bunch of us went off to take part in UltraTroll's St. Patty's Moonfire Race (which we had delayed considerably while we finished Doc Q-sorry, UT!).
Overall, it went...okay. Not horrible, but I do think splitting it may have been a mistake. I think I'll try to stick to tf's for the next couple of weeks that can be done in one reasonable sitting (see next post for next tf!). -
We'll hustle the Doc Q Part 2 up ASAFP, but I imagine it may take about an hour more time. Maybe we could do a second fast Moonfire right afterwards? Either way, I'll be green, drunk, and happy to join in the festivities in some way! :^)
-
So we've got our Doc Q going...we managed to get 8 people, and we'll wrap it up next Wednesday (3/17/10) at 7 pm Central time.
We got fairly far along in it in just 2h5m of time...we paused at the 2nd mission back in Paragon. I believe we'll be able to complete in a combined time under 4 hours with minimal difficulty.
Thanks to all who showed up, and mark your calendars for the 2nd half! -
Thought the old one was getting a little stale and old, so I'd start a new one:
First tf coming up, Dr. Q. Date is going to be split across Wednesday 3/10/10, and Wednesday 3/17/10 (St. Patty's Day!). Meet up time for both dates will be 7 pm Central time.
We'll split it up so we don't all go insane, but it does mean you'll have to pick a character you don't mind parking for a week. I've done it in 3.5 hours before without too much trouble, but that might be a lot for some people to do all at once.
So, if you've never done it, or if you just want to do it again-come on out for the party! -
Have I missed something? I want to preorder GR so I can have my dual pistols this 2x weekend...but I have no idea where to go to do it. Did I just miss it completely somewhere? Thanks!
-
Okay, I know things have been a little scattered the past few weeks-I blame:
1. Dual pistols beta.
2. My class schedule.
3. The grant I had to submit.
4. The fact that I've started dating someone and she's pretty cool, causing me to spend less time in game and more with her. :^)
5. The fact the my buddy Mikey (most of you know him as Johnny Screwball) is moving this week, and won't have interwebz conekshun until the following week.
However, I propose we plan ahead now for a Dr. Q task force, extending across 2 Wednesday nights. PLan here and now (if you want to come along for it) for Wednesday, 3/10/10 and 3/17/10. We'll need 8 to get it going, and at least 4 to stay on for completion. Damage heavy is nice, as well as damage resistant types. Support is also always welcome.
Chime in if you're interested and are definitely a go for this! :^) -
That link is awesome. I wholeheartedely approve of the 'For Pony!' battlecry. :^)
-
Just to add something obvious-if you want to play a brute or tank, you can't do Regen. Other than that, I agree with everything else that was said above. However, I wouldn't have minded having the opportunity to roll a regen brute. I don't think it would really work on tanks, but I'm not sure why we don't have the option on brutes.
Either is fun, though. :^) -
Yeah, I just now got back from work, 2000 Central time. So I'm only 3 hours late! :^P
I had to read some results from an immunofluorescence experiment today on my department's confocal scanning laser microscope. A person I work with needs the results NAO, so it took precedence over the game. What are you gonna do, y'know?
Next week, though! Did y'all run the respec tonight anyway? -
Quote:If it hasn't already been said, my money is on a 'mirror image of yourself' sort of setup. I bet the AI reads your powerset combination, and you are 'mirrored' and fighting yourself. The quote they put in along with it seems to indicate something like that, as well as their comment about 'matching your character blow for blow.'Neat info release! The new Dark Mirror enemy is what sparks my curiousity most, have to wait and see what that's all about, but the name is certainly interesting. Also really happy (being an SG of one) to see that I'll now be able to just email some cash from the rich K5K to my lesser toons who actually need the money. Brilliant.
But yeah, the QoL stuff in this issue is stuff that should have been done LONG ago. Emailing money? Check. Thank GOD! This they should've done when they bumped the amount of influence you could transfer in one sitting up from 100k. 7 missions? I want to be sure that you can open more than 3 arcs at a time, but if that goes along with it, then this is a definite plus. Although, it could lead to a lot more OLD missions hanging around in your queue. But overall, I'm excited, and hope that they'll continue to add in content to go along with the QoL stuff.
