Hello all.
I have a major addiction to scrappers but I'd like to get back into blasting for a bit. I need a melee break.
I've had an NRG blaster sitting at lvl 30 for almost a year now and I think it's time to dust him off and get him back into the game.
I really just want to focus on being a ranged beast that can drop enemies before they have a chance to get in melee range so I'm not concerned with blapping at all. My concern is what kind of defense to build for. I looked through various threads and the opinions seemed to favor building for ranged def (which makes sense to me) but some argue against it.
I'm also conerned with KB. Not sure it I should take acrobatics or if I should just take tough and slot it with a steadfast and kb protection...which would also give me a little end recov boost I think. Although, I'm wondering if I should even take tough and/or weave at all. I saw another thread about this but I didn't walk away with a solid answer.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!

Hi there. The build isn't bad at all for your first go but there are a few things.
I must warn you that by NO means am I an expert and there are MANY others here that are much more qualified to be assisting you...BUT, I am also working on a Kat/SR so I thought I would try to help a bit at least.
First off, I want to make sure that you are aware of "the rule of 5". You can only have the same set bonus (no matter what set it's from) up to 5 times. Anything more than that is a complete waste. To check this in MIDS, click on "Window" at the top and then "Sets and Bonuses." Look on the right at the "Effect Breakdown" section. If you see something that says "cap" in red print, you know that you have exceeded the rule of 5 somewhere. Scroll down to find the culprit.
You have exceeded your +5% to recharge. Others may disagree with me but I think one of the best things about having a Kat/SR is that you don't have to rely on Divine Avalanche to achieve the softcap. I would recommend dropping it entirely. You would also lose that set of Crushing Impacts in there which are providing your extra (and useless) +5% to recharge.
Second...you are overslotted on Practiced Brawler. Its duration is 120 seconds and its initial recharge time is 200 seconds. This means that it doesn't take much to get the recharge time lower than the duration of the power. You should be ok just putting one recharge in there. Or, since you'll have a high global recharge that will still have the recharge time of the power lower than the duration of the power, you could just put an end reduction in there. Practiced Brawler provides sufficient KB protection so you could lose that Blessing of the Zephyr KB reduction that you have in Combat Jumping and do something with the extra slot.
Third, I would remove the Crushing Impact Dam/Recharge IO from Gamblers Cut and replace it with an Achilles Heel proc. GC recharges really fast already and having that proc in there to debuff your enemies' defense is a wonderful thing.
I'll try to get another look later if nobody better qualified responds. I hope this helps!

Fire can also throw down some good AOE damage. Elec/ Sd has better burst AOE damage, but fire has relatively good single target damage.
Martial Arts is not very good AOE, but excellent single target.
Also both fire/sd and elec/sd are excellent farmers for IO hunting.
I have a Fire/SD and Elec/SD but I'm having a hard time getting into the Elec/SD. I'm more than sure it's just because he's only running SO's but the 3.3 second cast time on Thunder Strike and the hit/miss factor on Chain Induction have been getting on my nerves.
But ya, overall the Elec/SD is gonna be the best bet all around...especially if you wanna sink some cash into it.
Since the OP stated that they are only going to be using SO's, do you think Elec/SD would still be as powerful? I'm kind of asking for the both of us now...heh... -
I'll throw in my vote for Fire/SD as well. I'm working on an SO'd version right now and he's pretty awesome so far. I can't wait to see what he'll be like when I can afford to put some IO's in though!

Could someone help me with the slotting for HP and Regen please? I've tried a few things and I give up. I have all of the uniques (in game, not in this build) but I'm lost on the best placement for them.
Any other advice is welcome.

Cool with me...thanks! I'm trying to tweak this build and getting really frustrated cuz I just can't afford the rech and damage I want.
I've been really surprised with the survivability though! This is the first build I've ever had that could stand up to a Rikti Pylon without it laughing at me. Although, I dont' have enough recharge or damage to do much to it. Oh well...at least it's progress! -

I am probably the last person that should be GIVING build advice on this entire forum but...doesn't the LOTG+ subscribe to the rule of 5 just like everything else? If you have 7 in there then you're just wasting them.
Actually, I just opened your build and you're over the cap on a few things. Click on the "Window" tab and then "Sets and Bonuses." Then look at the set breakdown info...you'll see it.

Nah, I think I'm the one who is out of the norm here on the forums. I've never had more than 575 million on any one toon. I know that's nothing compared to most of you guys. I just haven't figured out a good money making plan and I've only received I think 3 or 4 purple drops in about 2.5 years...two of which I'm sitting on right now.

Of course, the prices for everything are in a state of flux right now since the crazy AE monkey farm and the new hero merit/tip system...of course, I guess they always are but everything just seems really expensive right now. Hopefully, prices will start going back down a bit since there should be more supply to meet the demand now that it's a bit easier to acquire some of the hard to find IO's.

I looked around before asking but didn't see the answer to my question anywhere.
Is the Alpha Slot treated just like IO's when switching between builds? In other words, do you have to do it all twice or is it special somehow?
Either way kinda makes sense to me but I would think that it would not apply to both (or I guess there's 3 now) builds.

I know this is an I18 build but my changes for I19 aren't going to impact it very much.
I've already posted this build in an older thread but I have some new questions.
I'm trying to achieve soft cap w/ one application of DA. I have DA slotted with 4 Kinetic Combats and 2 Pounding Slugfest so I can get a little 8% bonus to regen. This leaves me just short of the soft cap at 43%. Now, I know that regen should not be my main focus on a /WP but I like seeing that my regen is at 700 (is this a reasonable number?) with the small bonus that the 2 Pounding IO's provide.
My question is would I be better off switching those 2 Pounding Slugfest to some sort of defensive set so that I can hit the soft cap...or should I stay with a damage set? For instance, I tried it with 2 Serendipity IO's and lost I think 4% regen but turned my melee def into 48.4%.
Maybe I could move the Kismet +6 from IW, add another one and get the 1.5% bonus to recover while reachig the softcap? I feel like I'm overlooking a lot on this build.
If anyone has any better ideas, please share...I've been looking at this thing for too long and could use a fresh set of eyes/opinions.

Fantomas: I wouldn't call it a train wreck. Numbers-wise, it resembles my kat/WP build that I haven't been playing much of, but she held her own in the "old", pre-pylon RWZ scrapper challenge, which generally makes me happy with a toon for MY PvE needs and then some.
Oh, and your character's regen is a LOT higher than my kat/WP's -- yours is up around where my DB/WP main's regen is, but I spent more on that build too.
The only thing I don't know about -- and it's important to know that I'm saying "I honestly don't know" and NOT muttering "I disagree with" -- is what appears to be your attention to positional defense rather than typed defense. Now, this is the SAME thing I did with my DB/WP, the same thing I did with my kat/WP, the same thing I did with my BS/WP -- see a trend here?
And the people here who know such things said "but WP works better with TYPED defense. Try some Kinetic Combat sets in there instead." And I didn't listen at the time, and I was still happy with the performance. Taking out a whole spawn of level 54 Rikti, no inspies, no temp powers, and so on? Woot!
And then over the summer, I took a friend's advice, respecced my DB/WP into a typed defense build and tried THAT out. And I'm a LOT happier now!!
DA adds to melee when the going gets tough. And it ALSO adds to S/L defense. Would you be happier with a typed defense build and trying to go that route? Again, I don't know -- your mileage may vary. When i19 rolls around and I have to respec a TON of toons...I'm personally planning on trying it.

Hello all. I asked a bunch of questions about /WP recently and combined my answers with a build from Mojo's old guide. I've messed with this build a bunch today and I just can't seem to get a good one going.
I want to use up my respec before I19 hits...just 'cuz. I don't have the cash to make the build the way I really want it. I'm only looking to spend between 500 - 800 million on it. I already have a few of the sets so that helps.
Eventually, I'd like to be able to softcap w/ just one application of DA (nowhere near right now) but I don't see that happening w/out sacrificing some typed defenses (which are sorely lacking at the moment) here and there. I want as much recharge as I can get in there too.
Does the end seem to be sustainable? I think that's actually less than what I have in my current build and he never has end problems...I'd check but I'm not at home.
I took FS over SOTW because I took SOTW over FS on my Kat/SR...plus, it makes sense to have a cone for a /WP over a single target attack since I plan to be in the middle of mobs most of the time.
This toon will mostly do TF's, some solo and duo teaming. I'm not looking for the mightiest Kat/WP on the planet or anything but I do want to be able to hang w/ some of the good builds...even if I'm on a somewhat lower rung of the ladder.
I'd appreciate any suggestions/changes to the build. Is this a train-wreck of a build as is????

Greetings.
I usually play Scrappers but I feel it's time to check out the Brute.
I recently discovered the joys of massisve AOE damage and the idea of fully saturated AAO, Rage and a rising Fury bar just make me happy.
I just wanted to get some opinions on the power selections for this build. I'll mess around with IO's later...right now I'm more interested in which powers are useless and when should I take the ones that aren't.
I solo most of the time and do some teaming and TF's here and there. PVE only.
I'm not concerned with having a travel power right now but I'll probably pick up SJ when I19 comes out.
Any suggestions are welcome!
