Assuming Indigo's premonitions come from mutant powers, we would know that the Knives recruited a mutant into their ranks (perhaps unwittingly). We also know that Malta Operatives work with the Knives often, and Malta are known to not have any particular fondness to metahumans or supers in general. Logically, Knives containing supers or mutants would cause a schism between them and the Malta, hurting their working relationship, thus the question.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Malta don't have a problem with supers per se, just uncontrolled supers, such as our characters. The group was formed by intelligence agents in charge of meta-human operations, after the Might for Right act was overturned. So they're used to supers working for them.

Being a member of the Knives might count as "under control." Then again, we are never told why Indigo left, iirc.

Edit: According to ParagonWiki, Indigo is a mutation origin contact. Eeeeenteresting.

Of course any list such as the above is going to have plenty of troublesome characters: I'm not sure where Storm or Professor X fits, since they are incredibly powerful but about as vulnerable as a normal person.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well they're squishies. In CoH, squishies are far more vulnerable than a "normal person"
  3. I liked the extra bodies too. Although if you replaced them with battles that would get the point across just as well.

The only thing I really didn't like from a design standpoint was all the hostages saying the same thing. It reduced them from "people in need of rescue" to "plot device to get the player to the right place at the right time," IMO.
  4. I agree with 45th, and one for around the two-year mark as well. Then one around the 6-year mark, when that rolls around.

That way you get one or two, but nothing crazy.
  5. In the left-hand Salvage tab of the market interface it's sorted by level. There are six types of tech and six arcane in each level bracket for each rarity type.

After defeating someone like Frostfire, the Hellions don’t hold a lot of challenge for a hero and it’s time to move up to greater threats.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You meant to say Outcasts instead of Hellions, correct? Also, any chance of the Hellions actually getting their own AV/EB at any point in the future? And the Skulls too? It seems like just about every other group has some big-wig calling the shots except them (I'm not remembering every group right now, there's probably others without AV/EBs too, and I wouldn't be against them getting their own as well). Vahzilok have Dr. Vahzilok, Clockwork have the Clockwork King, CoT have quite a few, Outcasts have Frostfire, all of the higher level groups have at least one AV. Even if the Hellions and Skulls are just rival gangs in a never-ending turf war, it seems that there should be more than just a few named bosses running the show.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hellions have 3K Kelvin, and Supposedly have a leader, and the Skulls have Brothers that lead it, The Hellion Leader is likely just a Fire/Fire Insert AT here, and the Skull leaders are probably a Dark/Dark corr and a Dark/Dark Brute.

    [/ QUOTE ]

3K Kelvin is a long way from the Hellions' main turf.

You actually took the time to type a reply that made a lot of sense and actually helped me see the other side of the view point in a way that was easily understandable WITHOUT being sarcastic, rude or just plain not helping.

If you ever stepped foot in the WoW forums, you'd be torn to SHREDS. We're a LOT kinder and more jovial than even the nicest in that lot.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Seriously... or the Penny-Arcade forums or the CTRL-ALT-DEL forums, or... well, any other forum, especially a "left-leaning" one. I'm afraid Mr_Mechano would be torn limb from limb.

The CoH forums is like the kindergarten of the net.

    [/ QUOTE ]

More like the rest of the net is kindergarten. Most "discussions" on the WoW forums and their ilk essentially boil down to "I know you are but what am I?"
  8. [ QUOTE ]
Sorry but that is too easy and makes way too much sense.

They want to sell those slots for like 10 bucks anyway...you really think they care about the free ones you get for being able to spell and make an interesting story?

    Good luck

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hall of Fame is supposed to be for the players as much as the authors. Having that flag on an arc is supposed to say "your fellow players consider this arc to be one of the best." We all know that popular =/= good, but that isn't the point here. HoF will always be a popularity contest. What it shouldn't be, and what it currently is, is an unauthorized form of PvP.
  9. And providing both vet rewards and paid options would alienate new players how???

As opposed to offering only a paid options, which alienates people who are getting sick of micro-transactions.
  10. While it would be nice to be able to look at a newly-voted in HoF arc and express your opinion if you don't feel it's worthy of the honor, the sheer amount of griefing makes locking in HoF status somehow the only really viable option I can see.

As a comparison of dev-created content to MA farms....fail.

[/ QUOTE ]The arc is terribly written, with a terrible premise and terrible execution. The only reason I run it on every character I have is because it gives a grotesquely inflated XP reward.

Same basic premise as a farm, from where I sit.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well then I guess we just disagree on whether the xp reward is worth all the boring running around and slogging through CoT, whose tendency to spawn ghosts is directly proportionate to how much smash/lethal damage you do.

    [ QUOTE ]
Er, so what you're saying is someone copied the villainside "Origin of Power" badge mission and changed the last mission to be a farm?

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, he's doing a review of the actual Dev-created Origin of Power arc to, I guess, "make a point."

    [/ QUOTE ]

Er, isn't the final mission just CoT though? It's been a while, but I thought it was, and if they give bonus xp that's news to me. And it's not like there's any advantage to having excessive glowies in a dev-created mission, aside from the laughably small inf bonus they give.

So, yeah. As a review of horrid writing, yes. As a comparison of dev-created content to MA farms....fail.
  13. Er, so what you're saying is someone copied the villainside "Origin of Power" badge mission and changed the last mission to be a farm?

  15. Well you CAN solo the Kronos, as a downgraded AV in the World Wide Red arc.

The thing with the Kronos, it's really expensive to make, that's why Malta doesn't rule the world. If they could manufacture enough giant robots, even half-Kronos size, to keep a bunch of level 50 heroes happy, that would be bad, because Malta is scary. Involving them in zone events just makes them overexposed and less scary for it, and we have enough of that with them calling out every up-and-coming Supervillain who sets foot in Grandville.
  16. I am starting to complain about having to buy new costume pieces, yes, since the free ones we are getting in i15 are lame, but the magic pack ones that we have to pay for are cool.

Also, there are about 50 zillion costume combinations you can make with existing, free costume pieces. There are a grand total of THREE arcs we can publish without paying.
  17. Um, I didn't wish for microtransactions. Paying real money being the only way to get more slots was the last thing I wanted.

What I wish for, actually is more slots to people who make good missions. Hall of Fame and Dev's Choice...work in theory.

What I also wish for, is more slots to people who actually use the Architect to play others' missions. You play stuff that's good, you get a better idea of what makes a good arc. You find something that's bad, you get some idea of what not to do. Too bad there's no way to implement this that wouldn't encourage farming.
  18. Scaled down EBs should have exactly the same status protection as regular EBs. Doms and Controllers solo too.
  19. Yeah, figures. So, so tired of the best stuff being handled exclusively through micro-transactions....Server transfers, renames, the good costumes....and now letting people continue to fully experience the cool new feature a lot of people love.

    <QR>

If you want to go toe to toe with a signature character set your diff to level 4 and solo it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

In a lot of cases, that doesn't work anymore. Newer AVs are significantly more of a threat to many solo characters than older ones like the Praetorians.

    [ QUOTE ]

Most of the Team vs AV fights I've been involved in have been extremely one sided, especially at the higher levels. The number of buffs and debuffs, and the sheer firepower a team can aim at a single opponent means that unless you're very unlucky, or the AV gets the drop on you before you're ready, you'll win. Make those AVs into EBs and we'd smack them aside so fast they'd lose all credibility.

It's a game mechanic to create some level of challenge to a team. I'd like to see the Strike Force AVs scale down to EBs, but only so I could try soloing them

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree. Something other than giving everything higher damage, nastier debuffs, and tier 9s. This just increases the level of challenge to a soloer, while not being significantly more difficult for a well-built team.

Most of the Strike Force AVs do scale down in the Mission Architect. You can solo them there.
  21. Neither of those would work anyway. I tried. Allies and Escorts can't have allied guards, my snipers totally ignored the unguarded escort, even after I went and picked him up, and captives with guards set to "ally" and "single" will start out hostile but turn friendly as soon as you walk up to them.

Now I'm curious too. Also curious how you got a guy who didn't fight back.
  22. The AV could have been a required ally or escort, with the guards set to "ally" and "single?" In order for something not to fight back, it would have to be an ally or escort, I think, and if the guards are allied then the guy they're guarding is hostile. There is usually a bit of a delay between failing a mission and getting kicked out, time enough to grab a blinky.

Or clicking the blinky triggered an escort of an unguarded Rikti monkey in a room full of snipers?
  23. Hm, I can kinda see the point. The AV scaling down to EB mechanic has always bothered me, from an in-character perspective. I fight BaB solo, he's an EB, but then I join a team doing the same mission, and he's an AV. Besides which, they are everywhere in high-end villain content, so playing on Invincible becomes more of a PITA than it's worth, as you're turning down your difficulty every other mission.

Now if they were all EBs most of the time, and scaled up to AVs for stuff like the RSF, I'm sure they could come up with some justification to hand-wave away the upgrade. After all, I fought a much wussier BaB and Mynx in the 30s, with no explanation. Besides, most AV fights aren't that challenging anyway. Once you've cleared away the spawn with the AV, you've won.

I'd like to see them do more things with the signature characters' minions. Add ambushes. Up the boss-counts in the EB spawn for bigger teams. It's would make these encounters far more challenging, interesting, and less annoying than just giving all the sig characters massive debuffs, tier 9s, or insanely high damage. Also from an in-character perspective, it would mean they're not that much tougher than us, they've just been around longer, are better-known, and therefore have more backup available. Which makes sense.

Besides, wouldn't it be cool for one of the Freedom Phalanx to admit they can't fight you alone and send a task force after you? Then you could fight a bunch of random heroes like in the STF? Now THAT would make a villain feel important.

    Confuseing Error

If it is something trademarked, the error message will say something like "contains profane or copyrighted text: [some word that likely is neither]" From the sounds of the error message, you may be trying to use the name of an in-game entity? I'd try unlocking everything, just to see if it helps.
  25. There are several of those in the AE I believe, lumped in with the regular CoT maps. The jail maps aren't unique or special or anything, they can come up in a random map selection. You have to figure out what the jail room looks like on the mini-map, in order to find them.
