Ok we're back as Rogues Radio and the EU channel is being closed off
  2. Good news! Rogues Radio has had the Rogues Radio global channel passed back to us, so we're moving from Rogues Radio EU to Rogues Radio proper! If you have us in your global channels - and if not why not? - quit the EU one and join the RR one.

In other news we will be having our broadcast streams moved on Saturday 12 June. On Saturday, you can head over to the Rogues Radio website at http://www.roguesradio.com and download the new streams OR, if you feel confident enough, add/edit the URLs in your media player:

    Stream 1 - http://sc12.shoutcaststreaming.us:8052
    Stream 2 - http://sc12.shoutcaststreaming.us:8054

Once they are there, you can tune in to the return of DJ Coin's Rock Zone, back on the air now that his period of mourning is over after that cup final! They say third time is the charrm, so next time Manchester United will beat Barcelona. Maybe.
  3. This Saturday, 28 May 2011, DJ Coin will be having the night off and the Rock Zone will be covered by...

    ROSIE!

Yes, it's Rosie's Rock Zone from 10pm UK time so tune in to the Rock Goddess as she shows Coin that she can rock out way better than he can!

Coin may not be able to tune in, as he'll be either hiding under his bed and crying or running naked through the streets of Hull waving his Manchester United scarf in the air, apparently.
  4. And so another Premiership season draws to a close and with the fantasy football, it came and went all so quickly. But who won what? It's time to reveal the winners!

    The Rogues Gallery

This was a straight race - the person with the most points wins it and I can reveal that the league ended up, in descending order...

    11, Chipsticles F.C, Oliver Buck, 1353
    10, Gavels Handprint, Neil D, 1518
9, Rogues United, Steve Ducker, 1597
8, Notty FC, Thomas Mineur, 1624
7, San Tokyo, Giles Negus, 1690
    6, Yeomen, Richard Steele, 1718
5, Kay FC, Alex Breach, 1779
    4, London's Finest XI, Yummy Eggs, 1823
3, The Escalusians, David Wheatley, 1860
2, Fort Hades FC, Stuart Cameron, 1862
    1, Your Nan's Athletic, Steve Marsh, 1932

It's been a long and hard fought year, with Your Nan's Athletic being the overall winners so congrats to Steve Marsh, who will win a Rogues Radio Cup (a mug with Rogues Radio on it!) - he may not have topped the points scoring every month, but he was the most consistent and he came away a worthy winner.

However, to give everyone an even chance, so that those who didn't have quite as much time on their hands to tweak their teams, the non 'experts' shall we say, there was also a second league.

    The League of Rogues

The League of Rogues was more... nail biting. This was a league where two members were pitted against each other and the person with the most points on a gameweek got 3 league points, a draw got 1 and losers got 0. It was all about doing better that week than another person, so it came down to a bit of skill and a lot of luck! To be fair we didn't get as many entrants in to this league, but it was no less intense!

The league placement was decided on whoever won the most league points and in the event of two teams having the same number of league points, the placement was then on game points. So how did this one go? Again, in descending order...

    #, Team, W, D, L, Game Points, League Points
    6, Pisced United, 12, 1, 25, 1381, 37
    5, Rogues United, 16, 2, 20, 1597, 50
    4, Fort Hades FC, 19, 2, 17, 1862, 59
    3, San Tokyo, 20, 1, 17, 1690, 61
    2, London's Finest XI, 20, 1, 17, 1823, 61
    1, The Escalusians, 23, 1, 14, 1860, 70

And the winner is The Escalusians! Yay me! I also win a RR cup!

In the official City of Heroes League, which worked the same way as the League of Rogues, we had a few entries in there. There were 13 players, and to even the number up the odd man out was pitted against the average score of the week from all players. So, out of 14, mentionining only our players, and the average...

    #, Team, W, D, L, Game Points, League Points
    1, The Untouchables, 25, 0, 13, 2063, 75
    2, London's Finest XI, 23, 1, 14, 1823, 70
    3, The Escalusians, 23, 0, 15, 1860, 69
    4, Yeomen, 22, 3, 13, 1718, 69
    5, Average, 21, 1, 16, 1714, 64
    12, Rogues United, 14, 0, 24, 1597, 42
    13, Gavels Handprint, 12, 1, 25, 1518, 37

Yeah The Untouchables weren't in our league, but they were the overall CoX winners, but congratulations to Yummy Eggs who came second overall with London's Finest XI as our highest placed Rogues Radio entrant.

It's been a great run, a fantastic season, and just think - in three months it starts all over again. If you renew your team next year it will be automatically entered in to the leagues, and we will let you know nearer the time.

  6. Just a quick note to say that the Rogues Radio global chat channel is now the Rogues Radio EU global chat channel.

Yes there is another one US side, and when the servers went back on it had 2 members. A few of us have joined it and now it's at 5 members!!

  12. I see a fair few very vocal people out there saying they don't like the endgame because:
    • they hate the storyline
    • it doesn't fit their character concepts
    • it's too grindy and you have to do content repeatedly to get anything
They have have their reasons for these points, which I disagree with and to each their own, because I think it fit's my character completely.

The current bio of my main alt is:

In what he thought was a dream, a mysterious green knight appeared to David Drake and bequeathed him, Escalus, the Sword of Kings. The sword was forged by the First King Escalus, and can only be held by the Chosen Heir of the King. On taking the sword, the power of the First King flooded in to him and made him the newest incarnation of Escalus.

On waking, Drake found the sword by his bed, and on taking hold, he was transformed in to Escalus, with a inate knowledge of his new powers and abilities, and he knew this was his destiny and his life was forever changed. Using his powers for the betterment of humanity, he upholds the legacy of those that came before him, maintaining the legend of Escalus, the First King.

During the Second Ritiki War, the Sword was broken during a battle with the Honoree, however on claiming the sword of the Honoree, the power of the First King became embued within the new weapon and Escalus learned the power was now within himself and not the sword.

The whole Rikti war bit was added to the original bio, and I did that because I started getting access to loads of different broadswords in the costume creator which I wanted to justify in my vision of the character's development and he'd been a 50 for a while by then. Escalus has now been 'spotted' by the Well who thinks he could be a good champion (or whatever it has planned) and is giving him further access to greater power and saying 'every bit of power you've gained to now has been kind of down to me' which I think fits the curve of the character development quite nicely.

What about the Praetorian invasion? It's the first 'test' of the Well, to see who are worthy. There is more to come and while some people would like to skip a few chapters to something they like, this is what we have and I am enjoying it.

Is it a grind? Yes. I'm used to it though. I've enjoyed most of the story arcs, and it gets repetetive doing the same thing sometimes. I don't do the ITF every day, or something similar as I have other things to do and if some people want to get through the new content in record time, so be it. You know what keeps it getting too grindy? Playing with new people. I'm enjoying the ride, savouring the experience, and liking the challenges it throws up. The fact it fits my idea of the character's progress is a bonus.

I like what's been done so far, and if I'm in a minority (or silent majority!) so be it. Everyone has their opinion to which they are entitled, mine is 'keep up the good work and thank you'.
  13. Did you know that Rogues Radio has a global channel, where you can make requests, find out who's on each night via the message of the day, and just generally chat, discuss music, make fun of each other, and just generally hang out and have a laugh?

Apparently there's a few people who don't, so I thought we should mention it again! Rogues Radio is a public channel and you can find it by searching, or if you know someone who wants an invite let us know. Most people hang out in the events channels, such as Sal's Badgehunters and Defiant Events and while we can tell you when we're on, it's not fair to flood those channels with non events requests, which is why we have the Rogues Radio channel, so you can flood that one instead!

We're pretty liberal - the only thing we ask is you don't swear in channel, as it is against the EULA, but other than that almost anything goes. Granted all you get some nights is CHOOON followed by CHOOOON with more CHOOON but there is banter as well.

The Rogues Radio Global Channel - for good chat to accompany great music.
  14. Give a proper welcome to DJ Donut, who is now a DJ proper and not one of our trial DJs. Want to be a DJ on Rogues Radio? Talk to Coin and he'll be happy to help out.

30th April is our one year anniversary, so keep your eyes peeled for some special things happening around that time!

The first thing is a special tribute set. As you might be aware, Rogues Radio was set up by Coin and Rosie, and they have put blood, sweat and tears in to keeping it going. While Rosie isn't station manager these days, preferring to leave that kind of stress to Coin, without her Coin wouldn't be half as good at this as he is. So, on the 28th April, in a change from my usual show, I'll be doing a tribute to Coin and Rosie to thank them for everything. If you'd like me to a tribute on your behalf go to http://roguesradio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=960 and leave a message and/or track request. Let's make it a night to remember for them both! (In the nicest possible way)
  15. I'm in the minority here - I'm more than likely going to be affected and my reaction is 'fair enough, what's next?'.

When we had the forum merger, there was an Escalus out there and if they're still about they didn't reply faster than I did to get the name made in to their own. If they have that as their global, I'm going to be renamed to Escalu or Escal or however far back it does end up going and I'll get a rename for my global.

The 'but people know me as...' argument may seem valid, but they're still going to know you as that. Is it so hard to rename yourself to something similar for example 'EscalusRex'. Do I want to change my global name? Not really. Does it bother me? No - these things happen. A small minority are affected and some are making mountains out of molehills. At what point have ragequits/protests/stamping your feet and going 'wah!' worked?
  16. Escalus

    iPad 2

But will it run the SAM broadcaster?
  17. A few changes at Rogues Radio:

Mrs ? has stood down as a DJ and we're sorry to see her go, but give her time and she may be back.

Coin hasn't been slacking though and in her spot on a Monday we have a new trial DJ, Donut, known in game as @New Strange Friend and her first trial set is Monday 28 February at 8pm UK time.

Speaking of trial DJs, The Sarge and Big Jay have been promoted to full DJ status and are now permanent additions to the RR team.

And, finally, Kiko returns 18th March! He's had a break from the station but he'll be back in a few weeks time.

The more things change, the more they stay the same!
  18. Escalus

    Defiant Events.

I was on last night - DE was dead, got a nice ITF over on DE2 and then logged out presumably before it all kicked off.... (no pun intended)

Guess I know which channels to use to plug my show tonight!
  19. Escalus

    Defiant Events.

    Wait... what?

I know he kicked the mods the other day, but now he's kicked everyone? Wasn't there about 1,000 members of the channel (not all active, I grant you). I'm hoping I've interpreted that wrongly, because otherwise...

Heh, I like to do my part for the station, though speaking of cover, after Fish does his set from 8pm until 10 he was supposed to be followed by Big Jay and his first trial set, however Big Jay is working and can't start this week. He will be doing his first trial next week, and he'll be doing his first set on Saturday covering for DJ Notty. It also means you have the pleasure of my company again tonight from 10 until whatever time I finish!

Irony of it all is, Coin just updated the schedule on the RR website and it's completely different for this week!
  21. New developments @ Rogues Radio!

Firstly, welcome back to Mrs ? who has reclaimed her Monday slot at 8pm UK time. She's had a good break and is back and better than ever. She's also arranging a competition which begins on 24th January. Check out http://roguesradio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=808 for further details and the rules. A big thanks to Avatea for helping with the prizes!

Secondly, we have 2 new trial DJs! Sgt M P Lawrence - the Sarge - starts his trial sets this Sunday at 9pm, and we have Big Jay, who some of you may have heard of from Music World Radio who will be on Wednesdays from 10pm. He's not to be confused with 'I don't have a nickname, I just play cool music' Jay who is on Thursdays and just completed a fabulous series on David Bowie!

Thirdly, we have so say 'see ya' to DJ Kiko who is taking a short break from his Sunday sets, but he will return in a few months. In the meantime, DJ EJ will be going from 6 until 9, and the Sarge will covered 9 until midnight until Kiko comes back.

New year, new DJs, even more great music!
  22. Happy New Year from all of us at Rogues Radio!! Hope you've had a great holiday break (those of you not working!) and Santa and the sales got you all you wanted!

What do we have in mind for 2011? Well....

Jay, who does the Thursday slot from 7pm has three special sets planned for January. I'll let him tell you!

    Part Three - 1989 - 2003
Taking tracks from Tin Machine, Tin Machine II, Black Tie White Noise, The Buddha Of Suburbia, Outside, Earthling, "Hours...", Heathen and Reality.

I have excluded live releases from this list but may play some things from various live albums and the recent "retro" releases will be put into the relevant time period and if you have any requests please post them on the Rogues Radio forums.
    Part One Thursday 6th January 2011 @ 7pm
Then, on Thursday 13th January @ 10pm, I'll be doing a special set in memory of people we have lost. It won't be the most upbeat of sets, but if you have any dedications in memoriam of someone, please let me know. You don't have to let me know publically if you don't want, PMs here and on the Rogues Radio forums are fine.

We also have the Rosie and Coin Show coming up - the date has yet to be confirmed by Virtue who bid £250 in the Real World Hero auction, but we are all looking forward to that show! Believe me, when we have a date for that we will all be shouting it as loud as we can (apart from Coin!!)

And, of course, the rest of the DJs at Rogues will be doing what we do best - playing an eclectic mix of tracks every evening! Start times vary, so please check the Rogues Radio website for the full schedule.

We may even get Hal the auto-DJ going again for times when there is no DJ available, but since Hal hijacked the station over Christmas, he's currently undergoing repairs. It's amazing what technical problems can be solved by hitting something with a hammer...
  23. I bought it for me last night - I prepurchased GR so I could have dual pistols, but never got around to getting the items that came with the official release, but since this has an extra month of gameplay and the items for less than what I normally pay on a month... bargain!!
  24. Update on RealWorldHero.

The winning bid came from Virtue who plays on Defiant and is a member of the GRRR Supergroup and she bid (and we're still all 'woah' about it) £250 on Coin and Rosie.

Yes, that's right, 2 5 0. Not a typo. If you see her in game, I think a very well done is the least to say, because damn... Very well done indeed. I believe it was the highest bid on anything in the auction.

The only downside is Coin can't leave the house due to the size of his head at the moment!!!
