Doh!! The datalink stopped working for whatever reason. I edited my last build post, and put the data chunk in there too.
-
I tested it, yes it takes all of the above, acc def debuff included. Hooraaayyy!!!! My build works.
-
Oh no!! I realized shield breaker is an accurate defense debuff.... well, we'll see
And yeah, I just checked my build and I'm dumb. I did 5 slot with the proc instead of confuse -
Nice, Gilia, assuming your info is correct, here's what I got from it. 190%recharge, soft capped so s/l. Shield breaker in Sleet. If it will go there. I'll have to make sure. Not to say I don't believe you. I really hope you're right. This is the best I can come up with, assuming I don't see better when I open your build in a few seconds. 3 slots left over, 2 for stamina, and 1 for health. The one thing I was really hoping for was to free up enough slots to get stamina six slotted. if anyone can take my build and adjust it to have 5 slots left over, so they'll be able to be dropped to put in inherent stamina, the build will be up to 195% recharge. For now, I'm not going to try because I have to go back to work. Good job everyone putting our heads together on this. (I think I'll play with the glad proc to see what recharge I can get after using that)

Thanks. I'll definitely take something from that, slotting decimation in the sleep if nothing else. The sleep lasts so long anyway, if you have a reason to sleep a single target, you're probably focused on either that one or one or two others, so you can hit it again pretty easily before it wears off. I haven't looked at the build yet, but from what you say, I probably won't be giving up anything in hasten or power boost. But those are options. With recharge as high as mid 190's, I'm not gonna sacrifice slots in my really important powers. I'd really love it if I was just a little less slot tight. Just one more and I could slot the confuse proc.
I'll look into defense debuff, and that could really be a huge help. I'll search and see what I can do with that, other wise I can sacrifice 12.5% rech between the purple hold and the slow sets, and gain 17.5% by putting in the purple aoe and another basilisk. :O That would free up a slot too, to put in the confuse proc, or if you really wanna be crazy, a glad proc to get to 48% defense to help with debuffs. That'd be for when I've been playing a few more years and just have nothing better to spend inf on. -
I couldn't figure out how to link it with just a word, so I'll do it the long way. I mess with both. The first started as Tylerst's and I got it to 203, but I have to figure a way to get another .6 defense out of it. And the second is Mael's, 192, softcapped. This high, there's not much you can do, without sacrificing the other. When messing with Tylerst's, I kept juggling soft cap and recharge, going from 200ish, then back down to the mid 190s as I went back to soft cap. Seems like it might not be possible to break 200 with soft cap.

Thanks for the input guys. It looks like Mael's might be a little "better" (always depends on what you're going for).
Once I compensated for i19, it looks like the two builds come out equal in recharge, 192.5 for both. Both just over 45% defense. The one thing that Maels's has at first sight is it's a little easier to slap in total dom for the 3rd i19 power because it's I dropped stamina slots and moved them somewhere else. With the knockback IO's, it tightens up the build a bit. Once again, this is first glance, and about 5 minutes of tinkering. Seems like it's easier to shift stuff around on Mael's. And Mael's is slotted for damage, which is a personal preference. And when you're tinkering on mids, there's a lot of stuff you wouldn't think to do right away. i could be wrong. 's build might actually have something to juggle that would totally work, but as far as I can see, it's hard to switch out..... hey wait, I just got it. I put decimations in the attacks and put the two extra slots I got from the kinetics and moved them to total dom with basilisks to get 197.5% recharge. Unfortunately I had to use up all the slots to do that..... no more for inherent stamina...... also, at this point...... bah, I'm narrating an in-progress tinker. How silly. I'll post when I'm done -
Yeah, I do type too well for my own good, I end up with a half a page of stuff before I have been writing for too long to stay interested. Especially when I start ranting.
This dom has gone a different direction since phailing, and I went for pure recharge. now I've got s/l capped as well as the same recharge I had. New post here.
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...=1#post3333180
Still gonna mess with the build Mael proposed. See if I can squeeze more out of it. -
Hmm, and I'd rather take advice from a guy like Mael who can humbly laugh and say "honest mistake" then someone who just finds a post with a misunderstanding and immediately attacks while saying nothing really useful. Heh. The best I was actually hoping for was that someone would point out the fact that a PVP hold actually has a very decent recharge bonus, and things like that, little tips that could help it. I didn't think Mael would totally come up with a new one. Good work Mael. But now you're going to make it hard for me to come up with a better one since you actually made a great build instead of just giving suggestions. Great. Now I gotta pick apart all the sets and even look for alternate powers and i19 ideas to make the build my own.
(Kidding of course, but I figure I didn't need to say that, since you were cool enough in the first place for not flaming me for not noticing your build. I've been on 14 hour work days 6 days a week for a while now, and it's getting hard to think once I get back here to chill.)
-
Lol, "Spitting in the eye" is a little strong. I've seen people literally presume to give advice like "If u farm ae's misshies, and get lots of monies, you can get IO's which will make you powerful". (Maybe not that bad). But I've definitely seen silly advice like that, didn't realize he had mids attached. Once I saw that the post became HUGELY useful, and I'm thanking him now.
(I thanked him for trying to give advice before, but when I thought it was a silly post, I dismissed it politely, hence "thanks for trying but that's not what I'm looking for" )
This build is great, and I'm going to use it to try to tweak this further. I've already respecced and reworked mids on this toon so many times I want to get this right on the next respec. I'll factor in i19 and attempt to put total dom in. Also, I would like to minimize set mules only if possible. I'd like to see if I can pull it off without using kick as a mule.
Great build, best I've seen yet for a dom, and better than the one I made. But I think I might be able to work something out -
True, but I'm not counting my eggs before they hatch. I think i19 is going to herald the apocalypse and we won't have time to respec a single toon before war descends on us.
-
oh dude, my bad. I didn't realize you linked a mids build. Never seen one posted that way. I thought you were just throwing something out there. I'm lookin at the build. I'll check out what you did with it.
-
Umm, thanks for trying, but that post doesn't really help much. All you said was, "Try to get 175 recharge and soft cap", without any idea how. You just suggested I take 2 defense boosts out of the build, including one for +3 defense. Appreciate you trying, but I'm seeing if anyone has any real ideas for how to pull it off. Won't just help me if it happens. Lotta people have this build, and I'll put the finished build up. Gave a build as a guideline to see if anyone could figure out something I didn't. Also, I haven't spent alot of time on it. Although I am as soon as I finish this post.
-
Here's a build I made. I'm working on 183 global recharge and capped smashing lethal. I've seen it done using these exact power choices. I just don't know which sets he used. So his is what I came up with. 167 recharge, capped to s/l. I'm short some recharge, and I needed a PVP proc to cap s/l. If I can get away with not using the proc, and I can get more recharge, it'd really be helpful.

Nice build. My second one was a tweaked a bit more than my first, but still not perfected. Yours seems to have fixed all the things mine didn't have, but still kept all the things I like in the crab sets. One thing I did do is switch to dark. The immob and the AoE sets didn't change but I take arm lash instead of the defense debuff power you put in there, I forget which power that was from the leviathan set. I could have kept defense debuff in the slots, but I slotted a multistrike for damage instead. It dropped melee and AoE to 44.4% each, but that's still pretty good. My reflex scrapper dropped down to 44.(something) after the botz nerf and still did very well. Alot of the reason for that is probably reflex's resist to defense debuff, but your crab build has nice resists to compensate. I think I'll stick with my changes. Issue 19 is coming, and I'm sure I can find something to put in there afterwards to compensate for that little bit under soft cap.
Too lazy for backspace, but I just looked, and you can put a proc in maneuvers instead of the three stat. More recharge, and your defense actually goes up from 44.4 to 44.6. Not much, but a little bit of defense that close to softcap goes a long way. And the endurance reduction loss isn't too bad.
Whoa, I just realized you don't have a travel power in this build. I guess that can work, and ninja run would work well enough. That really doesn't work for my tastes, but I think I could deal with it until i19 comes out, considering what I'd have to give up to even get a travel power. This slot is power and slot tight, and you'll be giving up quite a bit of survivability just to get even one more power. The one thing I'm not sure I can do is make up for that defense after i19. All 3 powers I choose after i19 will be one slotted, and 1 will be SS. The other will probably be Jump, just because there's not much else to take. The third I don't really know. Might just be a filler, like an unslotted pet. Assault might not be too heavy on end. Darkest night would be kind of end heavy, but I could always use it situationally. -
I very much agree with soul by the way. I have it on my brute. Oblit animates so fast you don't even notice it. It's amazing. Gloom too. Love soul. And fitting it in my crab is great.
-
Hmm..... I think I've been doing it wrong. how about this? Yep, I've been exporting them wrong.
This is also the updated build. For i19. Tired, so I didn't finish it. Put some of those fixes into affect. I dunno what would be better in Longfang. That's the best I can see for that. If I needed an extra slot or two, I could sacrifice an achilles or an IO from Aim. Maybe both. Aim isn't as important to me as survivability. That slot will likely have to go into end recovery. Maybe do better than Botz since the nerf? Still a pretty good set. Dark oblit has a purple in it, for the bigger recharge, but that's really the only noticeable bonus in rag and posi, so I'll leave it. I tend to make fantasy builds. I'll put a posi in if I can't afford it.I don't really like siphon in gloom, but it's a set mule at the moment. I could change it, but no range powers give melee bonuses. Maybe I could switch channelgun for slice, and get a melee set. Then put thunder in gloom. I'll mess with it after I sleep.

Quote:My policy tends to be, if you want to run off and solo the map, you don't get buffs, simply because I've died all too often trying to buff those people while they run around, not caring what agros anyone that attempts to help them. If you're with the team, and fight as a team, I'll do my best to buff you. And if the solo'er happens to be with the team, I might toss them something, but again I'm not going to try to follow them to offer any help.
Smart. When I'm on my scrapper, I'm cannonballing, almost exclusively. If nobody says what the tactics are, even when I ask, I'll just speed, whatever anyone else does. I usually don't even want to bring it to plows unless I'm lazy and want an easy toon to survive on, because it's all single target damage. Point is, I'm running ahead. I'm taking out cysts. I'm freeing sybils. I'm knocking out security chiefs. I'm on my own. I'll hang back and fight with the team if I'm told that's what we're doing, but I think speeds are enjoyable. Every time a kin or some other buffer runs up to me and dies, I just laugh and tell them not to try to "rescue" me. Sometimes my health hovers at 10% in the middle of a mob because I'll take an unlucky hit, and my siphon life is slowly bringing me back as I spam it. Healers and buffers who don't make the smart decision and say, "I'll TP you if you die," who come up and kill themselves "defending" me, get themselves killed, I don't have to do it for em. The same goes for buffers that try to chase after me. Don't bother. If I run away from the buffer, I don't get buffs, too bad. I have soul drain, and I don't even notice I have SB when I'm using my attack chain, that's how good my recharge is. A kin is nice, but I don't need it. So, by all means, don't bother. If you want the buff, follow the buffer. If you're a buffer, follow the tank. Or try to run around passing out buffs if you want. But as far as I'm concerned, the buffs you give probably are gonna be scattered around. helpful, but not necessary. Every high end task force, even speeds, are going to have points where the team consolodates. An EB mob. An AV. A room with huge spawns. Ambushes around Reichsman.
Guess what buffers. All those buffs you gave during the cannonball missions? Assuming the whole team is on speed toons and doesn't "need" your buffs, you probably shaved 5 minutes of the TF with your presence. Congratulations. But I'll also admit that when my scrapper stops at an AV that there's no way I could solo, and suddenly I've got 2 FS's stacked, SB, SP, Rad debuffs on the AV, and an entire team's worth of effects on it, and suddenly I can see the AV's health jumping down a little, but noticeably, every time I hit a Midnight Grasp, that's magic. Hats off to the buffers. You're great, and the ones that can stay alive in a mob and keep the buffs and debuffs coming strong. That AV we just killed in 30 seconds probably would have taken 5 scrappers 10 minutes to kill, plus the time it takes to get back to him from the teamwipe because scrappers just ain't tanks. I've been on teams that were all good toons in their own right, but we just didn't bring what we should have, and we worked on the last AV for 15 minutes. I'll be the first to admit that I'm shaky on my kin defender. But on my firekin, I'm doin just fine. It does just exactly what I'm askin it to, and mobs are definitely droppin around me. I built it how I like, and I'll play it how I like. It doesn't have inertial reduction for a reason. Because it has fireball. -
Quote:Haha, one time, when the kin was all haughty with "I will only give SB to people who ask for it", I whispered to everyone to make a macro button to say "SB PLZ" and to click repeatedly when they needed it.
Comfortable with that. If I'm busy spamming heals to keep myself or another alive, or I see a good spot for FS, I'll get to you when I get to you, but thanks for reminding me. -
It was fun. The first one was me. Finger slipped. After that we sped up a little. Got to the patrons and had another, mostly just because we weren't being completely cautious. Then we started teamwiping. Multiple times. We started chatting alot, and joking. We had fun, at least I did. It was a good attempt, and it can be done, despite what people say. Scirroco's cone can be avoided with a group of ill/rad's despite what's been said. Search for my guide on controlling AV's, and you'll see that 8 illusion controllers have more than enough confuse to handle the Patron fight in about 10 different methods. Recluse.... well, that guy will be a little trickier. I'd consider bringing a single tank to an all-illusion MSTF, and I'd feel very confident in the results. Those are the only two issues we had..... oh yeah, one other. The flier coming back before Recluse is dead can be tricky, but not too bad.

Just hit 24 and worked a mids build a bit before I respec. Don't have the time to really get in depth with it, have some paperwork to do. Figured we have freespecs coming up, and I still have my vetspec, so I'll just go with this build for now and then tweak. If I get some feedback before I finish my paperwork, that'd be cool. This is a pre i-19 build. When i19 hits I'll probably choose leadership, so that I can get the buildup proc and if I can work the slots, some more defense from the set. And then maybe invis or maneuvers for the procs. Not sure which. If maneuvers is viable, then maybe. I usually only put endgame sets in my builds, but this time I put harmonized healing in serum. Miracle is slightly better, but they're so close to the same that I didn't bother. Ruin is there for the AoE set, with a hami to make up for the mediocre stats of the set. All my defenses are overslotted, but mostly because I found the toon not to be very slot tight. If I put leadership/stealth in there, I'll probably move some sets over to that and away from overslotting. Also, if/when I put tactics/leadership in there, I'll want more slots to try to six slot that.
yes, I know I have two floating slots, not sure where I'm gonna put those
Also, I'd have to make an entirely alternate build to figure it out, but just from what I know, and from quickly looking at this build, it seems like a crab is more like a blaster in how you would slot defense than like a scrapper. And aoe blaster at that, which makes it even more tight on defense. Just throw out the fact that you have defense powers in the build, and think of the attacks. Lots of aoe = poor defense set bonuses. Is it easier to set one of these to softcap a type defense, such as S/L then to chase melee/range/aoe? I'll have to make an alt build and try that method, but I haven't done a crab, so I'm not sure. Hmm.

Omg, even my posts for recruiting turn into flames.
Mkay, well, anyway, 5 hours left till MSTF attempt. We got a great team roster, and we're only missing one. If someone else takes the spot, still try to make the reservation, and I'll put you on the backup list. Watch out in TW2.0 for when it starts, or I'll send out some /tells to look for our teammates. If someone isn't online at 5 P.M., I'll probably wait a bit, but it'll depend on the team how long we wait for ya. Hope you all can make it. Lookin forward to it.

I think so as well. I think i can, with the Vanguard medallion. But time will tell. Might even rework my build and see if I can get energy mastery without sacrificing perma PA. I'm gonna use the temps just to make it a guarantee. Actually..... if I just rolled with it and didn't worry about a death or two, and had the temps as backup, I could test it and see if it's possible without them. If it is, I might attempt it again as an actual master run. Is the Vanguard medallion blacked out as a temp? Do master runs black out accolade temps?
