Quote:From my testing on beta, the cats had their own animations.Do these have the same animations as the wolf? if they do, I'm less interested. One thing that bugs me about the wolves [and the Demon MM set] is how "busy" they are. They're constantly in motion, not to mention when I see an animal sit and scratch every ten seconds I automatically think "where's that Advantage I had in the kitchen drawer, is it still there...."
Real animals are not nearly that busy, and I'd like to see in-game pet animation cycles slowed by at least 50%. AND, AND! Demon noises greatly reduced, but that is an old issue. Which it would be great to see actually addressed!
And I remember thinking that the animations were very well done. The licking of their paw and rubbing it on their face was a very nice touch and was animated quite well.
Whether or not you'd like them, I can't say. I do recall there really only being two idle animations, so the rotation through them gets a little old quickly... but the ones they did have were some nice, fluid work. -

Quote:Hahaha...*sighs*
dug, it's my birthday. Couldn't you just let me enjoy the idea for at least an hour before reminding me it's already been done? (And I've only been awake for about 30 minutes anyway...)
Well, I think it'd be pretty cool as PvE stuff, to be honest. Maybe both?
I'd rather have a solo trial, from the cell beneath the arena, to fighting hordes of gladiators to fighting giant beasts and monsters...
I'm in!!
And Happy Birthday! -
Quote:Knock knock...I watched about 15 minutes of Napoleon Dynamite before turning it off because I couldn't take any more. And I don't mean that in a good way. I love stupid movies. One of my all-time favorites is Airplane!. (The exclamation point is part of its title, like the game show Jeopardy!.) Count UHF up there, too. I even moderately liked movies like Clerks. But Napoleon Dynamite was so boring and unfunny I just couldn't stand it. I have a friend who thinks it's hilarious. He thinks I don't "get it." I do get it, it's just as funny to me as an old knock knock joke. (It's not.)
(by the way, I share your perspective on the above movies) -
Quote:And, if those dates are accurate, people should be happy if Staff Fighting comes out in April instead of May!they're following a trend of sorts
9/27 - Time Manipulation and Beam Rifle (i21)
10/4 - Street Fighting
12/6 - Titan Weapons
3/2 - Darkness Control/Assault/Affinity (i22)
3/20 - Beast Mastery
4/?? - Staff Fighting
Not to say that I wasn't surprised when War Witch's letter was suggesting BM would be coming out first.
I hear the complaints over that, but... c'mon, this is old news.
Once it didn't come out right away... and once we saw the list in her letter... We're lucky if they release it so soon as this month. -
Quote:It's certainly not that they don't want to do it. Customizing callable NPCs is another one of those major hurdles with how the game has been coded.Too bad they don't seem to want customizable pets ..
Would make sense if you could choose between having both pets male or female. Wonder if that would be possible?
It is likely possible, but how much work and whether they'll ever deem it feasible... I honestly don't know.
I do know that, while I've always wanted for some customization with pets (even just multiple choices for us to pick from... which is still a large coding task), I've never wanted it more than I have since Beast Mastery was introduced.
I think this set just really makes the desire much more apparent, as so many people seem to have different (and strong) opinions about what should be available for animal henchmen.
I really hope that they can do this and get it going sometime somewhat soonish... But, I really have no idea if they will at all. -
-
Strictly opinion here, I am certainly not a fan of this version of a Liger and where it came from...
That just gets an Oh well from me.
Now... something like Bubastis would have been cool (although, likely less manageable legally, heh). -
Bill, it's nice to see someone else saying basically what I've been saying about the "all the animals" complaints as well.
Since they can't be customized, I hope they keep dishing out a lot of these things (or come up with a way to customize them, which I find highly unlikely any time soon, if ever). -
Quote:This is also why I am all for more and more and many more vanity pets... because, sadly, they cannot be customized.A costume is customizable and you can wear it everywhere. You can't customize pets and you're certainly not going to have them out in trials. I can see it for character concepts but it fits to such a limited concept and some people may THINK it fits their character concept when they're just trying to force a way to impliment their character to every new thing that comes out.
Sure, I'd like to see them make a whole bunch of options and release it as one pack (short of the ability to customize!), but, either way, it makes no difference to me... so long as they do get around to a lot more options with these pets.
They are the same as costume pieces, only they can't be customized, so we need a release for as many options as they can kick out.
And (not targeted at any one particular poster) people should really lay off of the "abusing the new rig to death" bashing. It's fine if someone wants something else, but they shouldn't lump their frustrations of not getting their shiny onto others getting their shiny. -
Quote:Photoshopped... Ligers don't have manes! Or it could be a Tigon, but I don't think they have full manes like that either.Quote:Egads, you're right. I guess I didn't realize there would be anything faked on the Internet.
Let me try again...
Yeah, I was searching around to make sure my thoughts of the first photo being fake were likely correct...
Also, as an expert witness for the court, I will state for the record that this last image is not entirely accurate. Thankyouandgoodday. -

Zwill, how about the Legendary Black beast of Arrrghhh?
-
I'd like to offer my opinion on something else...
I highly recommend not basing things quite so much on any misconceptions being blurted around about "focusing too much on melee sets" or even "too many four-legged rig things".
Do what you guys do, because it is awesome.
If you start listening to the ridiculous criticisms, you're going to go (*more) insane and you're likely going to start messing up the awesomeness that you can deliver on.
We have qualified forum posters to quell the irrational posts about false claims, trends and mistakes by you guys.
Don't try to please the crazies... they are crazy. They are pleased and they are angry and they are crazy... they will never NOT be pleased, angry and crazy... you will only start making yourselves and reasonable customers angry and crazy if the angry and crazy people start swaying things to their ways!! -
Just a helpful mentioning to be ignored...
I'm thinking that last month was nicer on people because a certain witch of war provided a pretty accurate chronological expectation of market releases.
Add that to some people's boiling-over-impatience for the awesomeness that is Staff Fighting and we can see why there has been somewhat of an explosion (albeit, not that large of one at all).
I, personally, understood that Staff Fighting wouldn't be coming out for a while, when we found out BM was coming out first. And I have little problem exhibiting patience.
I have been told that I am not altogether normal, though. -
Quote:Have you seen any of those nature shows? Lions are lazy gits that make the lionesses do most of the work ... which works perfectly for a non-combat pet actually.Quote:...
I quite like that the vanity pet Lion would be non-combat compared to the Lionesses, it mimics real life nicely, which provides a great contrast to the movie reference.
And, you know... if lionesses were the better fighters, they'd be the ones sittin' pretty while the males were out hunting.
In all seriousness, I do understand why people say this, when discussing the choice for Beast Master pets (and I'm not making a complaint about the choice), but I wish people would keep in mind the above points and not take the stance that it is the right answer to only have lionesses.
The natural order of things is not the point. Lionesses and wolves and dire wolves following a master to fight their foes is not a part of the natural order of how lions go about their daily lives in Africa.
And not all male lions are in the great position that people bring up. -

I'm calling for a white name to respond to my suggestions for domestic cats and dogs bundle packs!
-
Quote:Please, drop it.Simple enough. Proof. Where are all these people who want that set? Hm? All you're doing right now is flapping your gums, being insulting, and not proving a thing. Again, you want the set? Make it apparent here on the forums that there is a real call for it, and not your pointless "There are tons of people!" posts.
You don't know any more than the people you are asking to prove it.
Just leave it at that.
A powerset does not always have to be widely asked for to come into being. The developers are the ones who make the decisions and pretty much anything that they serve up (that is of the quality that they are known for) will be accepted, bought, played and enjoyed.
A Clown Summoning MM set isn't just a joke... it's just a customization theme for henchmen that definitely has as much background and inspiration as most any other powerset within the game.
I'm not saying that they will ever make such a set... and I am certainly not saying that they never will make such a set.
Really, neither should you. People have lots of requests. This one, at least, is not ridiculous.
And... count me as someone who would like to see them add it in some day (even though I don't request it enough to show up on doubters' radars).
-
Also, I don't think Posi has a huge fear of clowns. He may truly have a small issue with them, but (even if that is so) it has been greatly exaggerated for humorous reasons and... apparently... for false forum "knowledge".
-
Anyone saying that vanity pets are a waste are just being foolish.
They may be of no interest to yourself, but (sorry to break it to you) you're not the center of the universe and your disinterest does not make something a waste.
People also say that they are overkilling the pet releases... While I think that is entirely untrue and won't be true until they cover a wide variety of options.
You see, this game has basically been founded on variety and customization (from powers to appearances) and the type of pets that a player may want for their characters is no different.
That out of the way... I do think, with these pets' limited nature (noncombat, only one at a time and zero customization), a great approach would be to create some more domestic pets in packs, with a variety of skin/texture/coloring options.
The House Cat Pack could have a tabby, a black, a white, an orange, a grey cat... all a toggle power of their own, so that the player can select what they want.
And a similar option for Dogs would be great.
Obviously the first waves would focus around using the same model and just applying different colors and textures. Maybe, eventually, if they deem it worthwhile, they'd get to other shapes and models (whether it be poodles or rottweilers... a St. Bernard would be great, hehe).
So, paragon Studios... please don't stop... keep going... and maybe trying and circumvent the inability to customize them with a greater variety... and feel free to include them together and charge accordingly.
As for the Liger... I'm pleased to see something different... although, a different name may have been best (movie reference notwithstanding). -
Muhahaha... I block your feeble double post powers!!
-
Thanks for the pics, Zwill.

I happened to think that Aneko's comment about the name and the comment was quite funny and worthy of saying.
Classifying it as an attack is... almost as bad as getting upset about clown henchmen being used as part of the April Fools joke.
Seems everyone here could use a nice cold seltzer in the face.
(And, for the record, I would absolutely like to see a clownish MM option. I think there's enough precedence for such a thing and it could be a worthwhile approach [although, I think MM's big problem is lack of customization and more niche options like this might not be the right direction]... but I didn't take them joking about it as anything but funny).
